We were actually thinking of getting a few black plastic wheely bins from the local flats, dressing them up as Corbyn, Khan and Starmer etc, and burning them on the fire with a bit of petrol.
  2. I bought absolutely loads for Bonfire night and NYE, so got plenty left over (we were so pissed on NYE we actually stopped letting them off as it was getting a little dangerous!). Also found some dumped pallets down Brixton way which we have dried out, ready to burn on Saturday night. Now all we need is the weather to hold out- fingers crossed!
  3. Hi all, Its my birthday on Sunday, so I was thinking about having a big bonfire with some fireworks on Dawson Hill on Saturday night, with some friends*. I was wondering, are we likely to be disturbed by any busybodies, who don't like fireworks? Or any dog owners who think their dog is more important than God so no one should let fireworks off, in case it is scared? I appreciate that bonfires might not e legal in this area, but with everything else closed- how else am i expected to celebrate my birthday? *We'll all have taken a covid test earlier in the day, and we are outside anyway so covid will be non transmissible.
  4. I often drink on the streets too, but will just grab a couple from the fridge and head out to meet people to socialise and get drunk around the East Dulwich area. Its great that the Palmerston is closed again, as we can just sit on the benches outside it boozing, and not pay their hideous pint prices. Shame about the weather meaning that sitting outside for more than say half an hour is rarely feasible.
  5. I tend to make good use of these services, even though i am not vulnerable, shielding, old and decrepit etc. I use them to order large volumes of beers when on special offer, because frankly i cant be arsed to carry them from the shop across the car park into my car and then unload them again at home. I'd far rather the shop done the hard work and effort, seeing as the customer is king.
  6. Like i said to you before, just say you live in Lambeth and go to one of the 3 testing sites, including Brockwell park, where you get your results in 30 minutes. I went yesterday and it is a great service.
  7. The menu looks hilariously overpriced. Still, if you can source and serve Kingfisher Strong, then once we can again, ill pop down for a drink.
  8. There is plenty of wealthy and pretentious areas like East Dulwich outside of London- although unlike the Champagne Socialists round here, you'll find most of them will vote Tory and be quite right wing.

Perhaps I am not getting your weird sense > of humour:-( Im encouraging lying here because you would have to slightly bend the geographical truth in order to have access to an NHS service that should be available to all. As far as i know though, Southwark have not yet pulled their finger out and set this up. Im sure you wouldnt mind being treated in an hospital in Lambeth if an ambulance took you there. I also fly tip because again it is linked to paid for services, this time council based. I dont feel i get value for money from my council tax payments so i make sure they are put to work for something, such as collecting my dumped Christmas tree.

You are very boring, and no doubt even more so in person, as you always write this when a different response to one you would like is posted. No one is particularly impressed. Now hurry along- theres some curtain twitching to be done and neighbour watch notes to be typed.
  11. You might as well go to Brockwell park, as there is an asymptomatic test centre that has just been set up. Just lie and say you live in Lambeth.

With the attitude and the unwavering sense of entitlement of folk round here, thats not too difficult.
  13. Its a shame they do not burn very easily- with all the pubs etc closed, it wouldnt be the worst idea in the world, for social activity, to collect lots of them up and have a big bonfire in the garden, inviting some friends round for food and drinks etc. You have to make your own fun in lockdown!
  14. If you want really cheap, the security in M&S is really lax- you can easily nick whatever you please from there. The only partial exception is stuff like steaks and pricey booze, which have security tags attached- although normally its just some old woman standing by the exit door (security guard at the entrance) so you can tell her to get lost if the alarm goes off and stroll on out.
  15. I dumped mine on the pavement the next road along, so it doesnt clog up my own pavement on my street. Its a large specimen and i can see its still there- does anyone now when they are taken away?
  16. The folk of East Dulwich are indeed very fortunate- the million pound homes and fancy M&S food only interrupted to huge disdain when someone jogs too close to them on a path or a dog is off its lead on Peckham Rye Common. Its a tough life in SE22.

They sift through both to spot > saleable items. The young chaps who seem to have taken over the running of the shop (as opposed to the older women) for most of this year, also sift through the donations and keep the best stuff for themselves, i reckon. That place used to a goldmine, now all the decent clobber seems to be worn by the lads that hang around at the till!

  19. I managed to get a free one this year- there is a charitable cafe place on Acre Lane in Brixton, one rainy day when the staff were mostly hovering inside, i waited until their backs were turned, and made off with decent sized one. They cant have noticed as no one gave chase.

Yes, the Nigerian takeaway opposite Lidl in Peckham had scores of men gathering all throughout the first lockdown too, moving apart every time they heard a siren. Its a pity the Police never turned off the high street and gave these people what for. Pretty shameful, and then people wonder why certain communities are hit harder with coronavirus (see the ridiculous program on channel 4 Monday night).
  21. Debonair folk can have parties too you know. In fact, sometimes they are the best ones, particularly special occasions such as NYE.
  22. Sounds like an awful idea. Dress warmly and cheering the new year with mulled wine in flasks? What will you do after that? Go inside and sing Auld Lang Syne and eat gingerbread? This aint downtown abbey. Ill be having a large, debauched party at mine with a hired soundsystem and lighting rig that will go on until at least midday the next day. Lets get rotten to see off this year of chaos!
  23. as i said earlier in the thread- if you just dump it on a street corner or in someones driveway, the council have to come and clear away anyway, so that's always a good idea.
  24. If you arent into flytipping, maybe you should just burn it tonight or over the weekend on the bonfire? Tis bonfire night after all. No one is really gona want your old second hand mattress. Thats why dumping them for the council to clear away is so common.
