  1. Yes Drxyster I remember 'Heathers', full of haberdashery type things...buttons and ribbons...I bought a few yards of ribbon for my hair there as a youngster! :) Drxyster Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Could well be dbboy. 2. "Unwins" Off Licence was robbed and held up and closed shortly after.
  3. - As a child I always thought that the man that owned Jonathans was like a Sergeant Major type! Jonathans was named after his eldest son (he also had a daughter called Rebecca who was an iceskater)and often I would go in there to buy my sweets from the jars behind the counter that were sold by the quarter. - I remember the Indian sweet shop also, they were always very friendly. - The family greengrocers that is now the Turkish shop was owned by a man called 'Gordon' - Lastly the butchers was a traditional butchers with sawdust on the floor:) My memories of living along that stretch for many many happy years! Edited to say correct name Gorton not Gordon!
  4. Or the N9 nightbus runs from Trafalgar Square all the way to Heathrow...quiet roads & quick journey
  5. I agree the staff in Iceland are AMAZING! Especially one guy who bought a shopping basket over to me when he thought I was struggling. It's nice to see good old-fashioned customer service with a smile.
  6. Thank you Ridgley for your sympathy and advice and thank you Huguenot for your knowledge, very welcome advice from both of you.
  7. What would you do...if you had been suffering from Migraines and eyestrain for a 3 years at work which have been getting more and more regular. Then 6 months ago your work KINDLY fitted an anti glare screen for you. However you recently noticed that your 'so called' anti glare screen is in fact a privacy screen which they have fitted by mistake. I'm angry as my eyes have been getting worse and now I realise why!!!!
  8. Hi Sheraz It may be cheaper to first try 'Vanish Oxi Action Carpet & Upholstery Stain Remover' (Sainsburys sell it). I recommended it to someone on a previous thread and it worked wonders for them as well as for me : http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?28,372588,374719#msg-374719
  9. Hello Rachel Are you sure your post isn't related to this thread? http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,612201,612938#msg-612938
  10. I and two other people have had our cars broke into (via the back quarter window). We are just off Underhill Road. Any suggestions as to what can be done ? (ie is it worth getting carwatch type posters printed)?
  11. I shall keep my eyes open for her. I hope she's ok.
  12. No thanks! A Sainsbury's Superstore, an Iceland, a Co-Op, a Tesco's and an array of independent shops is more than enough for our lovely East Dulwich. I wouldn't want to see Lordship Lane change into a mainstream looking high street and to lose its originality and it's distinct character.
  13. Are any buses getting as far as Lordship Lane and is the 363 still terminating at Peckham Rye?

  18. :) oh dear how embarrassing Sue !
  19. Yes I know what you mean about Nunhead Cemetery, it's a historic cemetery with lots of walkers enjoying the history and nature of it, but Camberwell Old Cemetery is largely still in use, which is mainly where all the dogs are walked. Do you think you would feel differently if you were paying respects to someone buried there?
  20. Are you a regular visitor to Camberwell Old Cemetery? I always find it disrespectful when I go to a relatives grave to pay my respects and see dogs running all over the graves. Especially when there are so many parks and open areas nearby. What do you think?
  21. Good on you edcitizen. There is no room for this sort of behaviour in ED or anywhere else!
  22. Thanks for that computedshorty! My Great Aunt was shopping in the Co-op shop just a few minutes before the V1 bomb hit it and destroyed so many lives. Luckily she managed to run home to the air raid shelter to safety.
  23. ....and how long have you lived in ED sallyw? I bet Iceland has been here for longer than you have? Not everyone can afford M & S and Waitrose, so leave Iceland alone!
