  1. I found Greg after reading his recommendations on here last week, and I'm so glad I did! We needed some urgent decorating to be done and a few odd jobs to be completed by Friday, and they did it, and to a very high standard. The decorating involved filling a lot of hairline cracks in the walls, which was very fiddly and quite a task in the time scale. Greg arranged for Jacob to do the work as he was working elsewhere, and Jacob was great - very diligent and efficient, and a pleasure to have around. The results are far better than we hoped. Greg even came round on Sunday to fit a curtain rail that had fallen off the wall - it's clear he goes above and beyond for his clients, and is very helpful, honest and reliable with an impressive and professional work ethic. Thank you Greg & Jacob!
  2. I love Claire Tomson's, the 5 o'clock apron. Really yummy, interesting food (but accessible) for familes..She's a mum of 3 and chef..http://5oclockapron.com/
  3. thanks Rosie for this recommendation, I've just got in touch with Marvin for the work needed to our house and he seems very pleasant
  4. Hello I need to find a builder who will quote to replace joists affected by dry rot, resolve a problem we have with our ventillation in our subfloor, and replace with floorboards. If anyone knows a great and trustworthy builder who could help, I'd be ever so grateful for their details! Many thanks
  5. I'd also like to highly recommend Patryk. He's done an excellent job of our garden - we now have lovely new turf, he's fixed a very heavy double gate with new hinges and made it functional again, fitted us a new single entry gate which gives us access to the road behind our house, as well as laying a shady part of our garden with artificial 'easigrass', and building my husband a chin up bar! I really appreciated his honest approach when chatting through our ideas - I thought we'd need a really heavy duty secure gate, but he said that makes people wonder what's behind there - when actually the wooden gate we now have looks non-descript and doesn't draw unwanted attention. Made total sense, and much cheaper too. He's very hard working, tidy, polite, and a pleasure to work with - I'm sure our patio has been jetwashed too, just as an added bonus. It's transformed our space and made it much more functional and it looks 100 times better.
  6. Yes we love tiny gym too, much more to keep them entertained and set up changes each week. Much prefer the environment to toddler world, haven't been back there which says something!. Sometimes the earlier weekday sessions get full, so I'd just arrive 5-10 mins before. they do toddler swimming there too if you really want to wear them out!
  7. Yes - it's ok, but bit of a funny set up - find it too hot as it's in the same building as the pool. But there's a bouncy castle, and plenty of things for them to play with for an hr or so, and the park is lovely.. Hope that helps!
  8. Thank you! Really helpful - I was hoping to hear good things about any of these 3 as they're the closest to us! Plan to visit them all and see what's available. Much appreciated
  9. Hello If anyone has any Montessori nursery recommendations in the area for my 20 month old daughter, I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance!
  10. Could not speak more highly of Hollie at London Hypnobirthing and her course - she's fantastic, I think Hypnobirthing is such a positive thing to do, helps you feel very relaxed and prepared, and it all makes so much sense. Great course for both me and my husband, and I have no doubt that it helped our birth experience hugely, I went from feeling pretty nervous about birth to feeling calm, confident and looking forward to it - she prepares you really well, and in such a positive way.
  11. Hello, Again, I want to recommend my cleaner of 4.5 years. She has a space available on Wednesday's for anyone living within 10-15 mins of Peckham Rye station, or near Underhill Road (as she's already working in those areas that day), and would be available to start as of next week. Just to reiterate from my previous posts - I've recommended her in the past on here, and everyone's been really happy. I've recommended her to friends, my sister, and neighbours and they're thrilled with her too. She is Bulgarian and while her english is limited, you can still have conversation, but she is lovely, incredibly polite, reliable and is such a hard worker, and consistently leaves the house sparkling and her standards have never slipped. I have a 5 bed house and have her for 4 hours each week (used to have her for 3hrs for 3 bed before loft conversion), and she is so reliable, she does ironing, folds clothes incredibly neatly, and finds extra tasks to do that I don't expect - I'm not sure how she fits so much in. If you're interested, it would be very helpful if you could please PM me your road name/postcode, how many hours you want her to work for, and any questions, and I'll double check with her if it's possible and pass on her number if she can do it. Think this is the easiest way as she only has one spot available it might get complicated if she's inundated with calls! If you want to chat to me I'll happily provide a reference over the phone. Thanks Rachael
  12. I would also recommend Rick and his team. I called him this morning (07721060037) with 2 seperate issues - a leaking kitchen sink and a blocked saniflow and his colleagues were round a couple of hours later. Very friendly, helpful and efficient and got things fixed in no time. Thankfully they could clear the blockage saving me several hundred pounds and lots of hassle for a new saniflow system. Will definitely use again if we have further plumbing troubles!
  13. Steve and his team from Sundial have just finished repairing and painting our sash windows, door step, and front gate/railings (involving painstakingly stripping off old chipped paint and re-doing with primer and top coat), and I would also highly recommend them. They've done a fantastic job, the finish is impeccable and they were really nice to work with. Everything was done to a high level of attention to detail and they were very tidy, always cleaning up after themselves. Steve was also very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Very happy with the end result. Thanks Steve, David and Eric! sundialps.co.uk
  14. I also want to recommend Darren. He and his colleague came round yesterday morning to fit 4 ceiling lights, and remove two plug sockets from the walls. They were friendly, efficient and thorough, checking everything for safety and was working, and went out to get the correct light bulbs that I'd failed to get myself! Would definitely use him again, they were great! Highly recommend. Darren's number is : 07989 908341
  15. Hi Shannon Ideally she needs them to be be se15 and a close walk from peckham rye station..but I know she has one job in denmark hill. How far are you from denmark hill station and I can ask.. feel free to pm me. I pay her ?12.50 (recently increased from ?10/hr), but that was my choice to increase her pay as she's been helping me for so long. Many thanks Rachael
  16. Hiya Again, I want to recommend my cleaner of 4 years, and she's just finished a long term job where she was working 3 days a week for one family, so she has 3 spots (2-4hr) in her weekly schedule for anyone living within 10-15 mins of Peckham Rye station, and would be available to start next week. I've recommended her in the past on here, and everyone's been really happy. I've recommended her to a friend, and neighbour and they're thrilled with her too. She is Bulgarian and while her english is limited, you can still have conversation, but she is lovely, incredibly polite, reliable and is such a hard worker, and consistently leaves the house sparkling and her standards have never slipped. I have a 5 bed house and have her for 4 hours each week (used to have her for 3hrs for 3 bed before loft conversion), and she is so reliable, she does ironing and finds extra tasks to do that I don't expect - I'm not sure how she fits so much in. If you're interested, it would be very helpful if you could please send me your road name/postcode, how many hours you want her to work for, and any questions. I'm a recent new mum, so providing this info helps me to pass on details to her easily, so she can work out her schedule. I'll get back in touch asap. She's been so helpful to me, so I just try and help her get work when she needs it. If you want to chat to me about her I'll happily provide a reference over the phone. Thanks Rachael
  17. We've also had a great experience with loft life- we have 2 new bedrooms and a shower room and it all looks great - the team we had (Steve, Ryan and Neil) were wonderful and a pleasure to have around the house - and their attention to detail was fantastic. They had a lot of pride in their work, and made sure we got just what we wanted with big / small details, communicating all the way. They made a potentially stressful situation (I was heavily pregnant, and then with a newborn during the course of the build) stress free, and quite enjoyable in fact! Spencer the owner I think has about 15 teams that work for him, but again he was very knowledgeable and helped move things through as quickly as possible. Highly recommend, it looks excellent.
  18. Hiya Again, I want to recommend my cleaner of 4 years, and she's got a spot that has become available in her weekly schedule on a tuesday for 3 hours as someone she works for is moving out of London. She really is a gem to snap up! She has one weekly space every on Tuesdays in the Peckham rye area to start immediately. (preferably within 10 minutes walk of the station as she has 2 other jobs that day) I've recommended her in the past on here, and everyone's been really happy. I've recommended her to a friend, and neighbour and they're thrilled with her too. She is Bulgarian and while her english is limited, you can still have conversation, but she is lovely, incredibly polite, reliable and is such a hard worker, and consistently leaves the house sparkling and spotless each week. I have a 3 bed house and have her for 3 hours each week, and she is so reliable, she does ironing and finds extra tasks to do that I don't expect - I'm not sure how she fits so much in. If you want to chat to me about her I'll happily provide a reference over the phone. Just send me a PM with your road name/postcode, how many hours you want her to work for, and any questions and I'll put you in touch asap. Thanks Rachael
  19. Hi again My cleaner is still available for someone who needs a cleaner 3 hrs/week every tuesday, preferably close to peckham rye station (easy bus ride or walk) as she's got another 2 jobs in the area that day. Thanks

I'm sorry that I missed the replies to this thread before (I've just seen them - so sorry!) - I hadn't checked the box to notify me via email, or please PM me. I've amended this so I'll get back to messages asap (I've got a young baby so bear with me!) I've recommended her to a friend, and neighbour and they're thrilled with her too. 21. Highly recommend Steve. His service is excellent, I've used him twice for our washing machine that had things trapped in it nd it was making an awful noise, and he was quick to come round on the same day, and fix the problem in no time at all, and is a lovely chap too. He took the time to tell me what to do if it happens again, which was very helpful. Very efficient and wouldn't hesitate to use his services again! Thanks Steve!
  22. Hi I just wanted to recommend my cleaner of 3.5 years, and she's got a couple of spots that have become available in her weekly schedule again. She really is a gem to snap up! She has one space every fortnight on Tuesdays in the ED / Peckham rye area Or every Friday in the W dulwich area (or ED / Peckham rye) I've recommended her in the past on here, and everyone's been really happy. I've also recommended her to a friend, and neighbour and they're thrilled with her too. She is Bulgarian and while her english is limited, you can still have conversation, but she is lovely, incredibly polite, reliable and is such a hard worker, and consistently leaves the house sparkling and spotless each week. I pay her ?10 / hr, and it's very good value for money. If you want to chat to me about her I'll happily provide a reference over the phone. Just send me a PM with your location and any questions. Rachael
  23. Hiya Has anyone found a good team of painters / decorators who work quickly and won't break the bank? I've followed up a few recommendations on here, but I'm after a couple of other recommendations as the people I've contacted either haven't been available for our timings(or the quotes have been higher than I expected) We're under some time pressure with a baby on the way, so we need a team to come and and basically blitz the whole house. Thanks in advance for your help!
  24. Also currently using loft life - and while it's early days they've been great so far! Keeps us informed on what's happening and seem careful and considerate - really lovely guys working on our house. They won our business as they offered the best price (compared with prestige lofts and south london lofts), but also took the time to really explain the process for our house. So we have high hopes for our finished loft. They have great reviews on check a trade too which I also found reassuring : http://www.checkatrade.com/LoftLife/Reviews.aspx Will update once job is finished!
