  1. I used to quite like Bright Eyes (tha Conor Oberst band, not the Art Garfunkel song, though I have a soft spot for it, loving Watership Down as a kid) until I went to a live concert. His fans were singularly the least humoured most self regarding bunch of mopes ever and Coner, far from being the witty ironic satirist i though he was, was just as much of a self regarding, humourless mope. It was about eight years before I was able to put on any of his songs again. I occasionally indulge these days; a twonk he may be but he does write a good song now and again.
  2. Louisa sneers with contempt at the dogs on goose green as she goes daffodil picking in the dead of night. http://www.collectablesltd.com/shop/images/27285?240,240,-1337760025
  3. A conspiracy is a plan of or for unlawful action. A theory explains something as a plan for the above. From your three examples I can only conclude that if you can't even understand basic concepts you are in no position to be meting out advice on complex issues. Or to put it into words you can understand, you're an idiot. Seriously, you did the forum a favour when you retired your last persona, do us all a similar favour and kindly fuck off will you.
  4. Plastic leaves...... Hojas etc
  5. I read a number of British news sources and a number of spanish ones everyday. They correlate and the loony stuff doesn't tally. Of course that could be because 'they' control both but if anyone thinks that I genuinely despair I also read loads of blogs from all over. Those that are intelligent and articulate tend to be savaged as stooges by conspiracy types in their comments. The loons (for it's always interesting to keep an eye on marginalia) just big each other up. Conspiracy M.O. Is to discount sheer weight of evidence and give unreasonable weight to dubious minutiae. Not so much can't see the wood for the trees, as can't see the trees for plastic leaf they found in the forest that proves real trees don't exist.
  6. Remember the tedious hacking mini game in bioshock though, now that was annoying. I loved on review of DE:he where the chap said that though the AI of the notoriously short sighted guards in the first game has been vastly improved upon, that their lack of inquisitiveness was a new flaw. His favoured hacking method was to build a little camp from boxes every time the guards back is turned and then sit inside and do the hacking unseen once it's complete out of their line of sight, but you mightbhave thought they ought to be suspicious.
  7. I've embarked on Deus Ex Human Revolution. So far so good, and it feels really deus exy which is the most important thing. Dark, brooding, conspiracy laden, neon drenched cyberpunk stuff, but prettier this time round and with better acting.
  8. I think, size of stadium depending, gate receipts still account for about 40-60 percent of income as a rough rule of thumb.
  9. A poster on here who shall remain unnamed, informed me that My Name is Earl is made by Scientologists and is basically a propaganda vehicle for their philosophy/religion/twaddle. I literally cannot watch it any more, which is a pity as it's quite funny. It was Strafer Jack by the way.
  10. From what I've seen in the two 'marches' they really are a loony fringe rubbish bunch. This sort of behaviour just validates them. Ignoring them (obviously with enough policing to prevent trouble) and not giving them the media space is far and away the best approach. Thank god silly season ends soon.
  11. ...New Nexus is doing a pretty fine job of managing this.
  12. I guess she's using the recent riots and the potential for civil disobedience as a smokescreen for singling out the EDL 'march' (i saw them do it through pimlico when I worked there as I was heading to Chimes for a cider fuelled lunch once, it definitely wasn't a march unless marching involves ineffectually hanging on to a brutish looking pug whilst drunkenly urinating against a wall) which could look like slipping down a slippery civil rights slope. Or something.
  13. I thought beckham was booed because of his idiotic sending off, not for being utd. Or was it the penchant for skirts ;)
  14. Has this beaten the fois gras thread yet btw?
  15. Yes, that's exactly what I said *rolls eyes upwards*, but yes, I should know better than to bring class into it, just lazy stereotyping on my part. I liked the 'Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?' paraphrasing though. I think most people refrain from posting on here because it's a)tedious b)pointless and c)err....that's it. I do it because either a)I'm an idiot b)I'm a masochist or c) a & b
  16. You're right, regulators turned a blind eye too often to high risk trading practices, falling for the same false hope that risk analysis had defeated risk rather than merely being "an airbag that works all the time, except when you have a car accident." Finally I see the light, rapture will happen imminently, can you buy assault rifles from Amazon or do I need to do a bit of a shopping spree in downtowm Misrata?
  17. there is, but it won't play uploads that that wouldnt play in the browser. some do some don't, just as in the browser. I guess some use flash some use other mechanisms. I've never stopped to think too deeply about it.
  18. no YOU'RE a smelly poo. Touched you last.
  19. You can do iplayer, but you can't do 4OD, most youtube clips and, well, anything flash. As ratty says there is an iplayer app, though I've found it extremely flaky. I like my ipad, but given the choice now I'd probably go galaxy as I much prefer my galaxy S2 phone over my old iphone!
  20. alwaysFN's trolling < AFN's trolling
  21. Does anyone else feel sorry for snorky's wife?
  22. I can practically hear the crazies in their mountain retreats locking and loading their AR-14s and scanning the horizon for black helicopters as a result!!
  23. Nice utopian middle class pipe dream; to quote one of my favourite cinematic characters: "Shiiit, you gotta be rich in the first place to think like that."
  24. I think nexus has an inconsistent attempt at persona going on with the poor gammar, in a sort of snorky-richardbach fashion.
  25. Quite NN http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,729998,735065#msg-735065 http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,729998,735224#msg-735224 At which point, huguenot, you thought it was UDT, but your attribution was wrong. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,729998,735240#msg-735240 So I'm going with my instincts on this. UDTs words mean may be going back to my original gut instinct about who he is, despite some claims elsewhere to the contrary. Oooooh, this is all so coded and cliquey. You see NN & UDT, this is all it takes to be in the clique, just a bit of forum eerience, there never was any illuminati apron or trowel thing going on.
