  1. I found Dave Nichols from Pegasus on this forum and have used him before. He came to look at my oven in early January but now seems to have disappeared. Has anyone been in touch with him recently? In the current climate I'm concerned that perhaps something has happened. Please PM me if you know anything. I'll need to find another solution for my oven soon but would rather use him as I've been very happy with his service in the past.
  2. A few years ago I used a company called Leasehold Solutions to extend a lease. Very straightforward, they explained the process clearly and were responsive to my questions. Of course you pay for their service. I just couldn?t face wading through the legalities myself. leaseholdsolutions.com
  3. I sold a property in New Cross in March and paid 1.25% inc vat. Initially both agents I had round to do valuations quoted 1.5% plus vat. The market is very quiet and they?re keen to get new properties if you price it realistically. I suggest negotiating on whatever they offer. If it hasn?t sold, try another agent. Mine didn?t sell for 4 months, switched and it went in three weeks. Good luck.
  4. I can also add how completely satisfied I was with the service from Pavel and his colleague when they moved me last week. Friendly, polite and professional and everything was moved with care. It was completely stress-free, thank you Pavel.
  5. If those earplugs don?t work I can recommend Howard Leight Max Lite ones (green colour). You can buy a big bag on Amazon cheaply and they?re the best I?ve ever tried - I?ve tried most! I think they might be used in industry. The brand makes ear defenders etc.
  6. The jeweller/watch repair place inside Rye Lane Market in Peckham fitted a new clasp on a silver bracelet for me for a good price. It?s the only time I?ve needed to use them but I?d use them again, they did a good job.
  7. Hi I can recommend Kevin Reid at City Damp Specialists. Reasonably priced and he?ll give an independent report. Has no links to damp proofing companies.
  8. My lovely hairdresser of 10+ years who I found on this forum (Hairy Jayne)is leaving. Can anyone recommend a hairdresser to cut straight fine hair which in a bob?
  9. Which of the three artist(s) won? The website doesn't say.
  10. I'm trying to sell in New Cross Gate and having the same experience. I'm looking to buy too and properties I viewed three months ago when I put mine up for sale are still on the market. I thought the problem might be mine is a one-bed flat and the likely buyers are first-time buyers (who can't because they can't get the deposit together) or investors (for whom it's now far less lucrative to do buy to let). You say yours is a house though so maybe it's the whole market in the doldrums... Good luck!
  11. If you don't mind travelling down to Brixton, try Blue Peacock. Jayne has cut my hair for years, before she even worked there (you might find her on this forum under 'Hairy Jayne'. If it's colour you're after, Jayne only does basic colour work like a tint all over. So I've also had Carlos do highlights for me. I was delighted with the result.
  12. Hi does it have to be local solicitor? I used McClure Solicitors in Covent Garden as part of Will Aid month last November. Solicitors offer their services for free and you make a donation to charity. Last year Will Aid's recommended donation was ?95 for a basic single will and ?150 for mirror wills. A lot cheaper than I was quoted by local solicitors outside of the Will Aid scheme. McClure do these 'free' wills all year round.
  13. Mason and Green in Herne Hill - though may be too late now. I hope you might already have found them on this forum, lots of recommendations on here.
  14. Hi I haven't been on one of their a walks yet but I'd heard about Blackheath Ramblers. You can sign up to a email with details of their upcoming walks, details of the length of time and difficulty etc: http://www.blackheathramblers.org.uk/
  15. Hi I would be interested but wouldn't be able to provide water meter readings because my block of flats is on one communal meter that I don't have access to. Would that be a problem?
