  1. I have used Barn Glass who were excellent. Not very expensive either. Recommended by an architect/builder friend http://www.barnglass.co.uk/
  2. And you can now buy wood burning stoves that are DEFRA approved and legal.
  3. Hi I want to return to floorboards and need someone to help remove the carpet in my living room. The work will involve moving furniture (sofa, chairs etc)to remove the carpet. Ideally I would like it cut into sections so I can transport it to the dump. It 'should' be a couple of hours work?
  4. There has been a camera there for years to my knowledge. I speak as one who got a fine many moons ago. Never driven in a bus lane since!
  5. I am also concerned that the suspected site of the poisoning is so close to the children's playground. Does anyone know whether the park staff will be investigating? I say this as a parent of a 23-year old who used to play there frequently. And the owner of two dogs who walk near there every day.
  6. Hi- I was so pleased with Aston's work previously (see above) that I arranged for him to come back to do more. He installed the dryer vent, cut and fitted a wood worktop, hung some curtain rails ( a tricky job as I didn't realise the plaster had blown) and hung a mirror. Very very thorough and hard working. Will be preparing another list of small jobs for him to do. Highly recommmended
  7. Need two men to move a large pine cupboard from first floor to ground and also to move a dresser from back bedroom to front bedroom. Both are quite quick jobs - would pay an hourly rate PM me if you can help Many thanks
  8. HI Nigello I agree with you. You can now get ones approved for burning in London which is what I plan to do. They have to be approved by DEFRA and there seem to be quite a few that qualify. So - to use all the acronyms - it will be DEFRA approved and HETAS installed!
  9. Has anyone had one installed and who did they use? Looking for advice and recommendations. It is to replace an ugly gas fire Thanks
  10. I use Premier Clean - http://www.premier-clean.com/- and have done for years. You can pay online. Single bin clean rates are 3 Bin cleans at ?10 6 Bin Cleans at ?20 12 Bin Cleans at ?40
  11. HI. I would like to join those who have recommended Aston. He fitted a dog flap and hung some lights for me and did an excellent job. He's a lovely person too! I am preparing a list of things for him to come back and do for me.
  12. I am moving next week with Harradines. I met with another local company who were very unimpressive. Harradines seem very good (they will pack and move me). Will let you know how it goes
  13. Hi James - Thanks for getting back. I have been premature in my criticism. Lindford called me this evening (!) and told me that all other days were taken and the only one free was Saturday so I will have to stick with that. Thanks for offering to help though
  14. Hi James I'm hoping you can help. I booked a bulky waste collection (paying ?16) as I am moving next weekend and need some stuff removed. On the website when you book, it asks when you would like the collection. I asked for Wed next week. I have had a reply from the department saying my collection is booked for this Saturday anytime from 6am - completely ignoring my request for Wednesday. I need the weekend to get someone to help me put the stuff outside as it is quite large and I work full-time. They won't deal with this over the phone so my only option is to cancel the collection - losing my ?16 - and try and book again. Surely it should be possible to have the time you request? Why bother asking if it is not an option?
  15. Adding to the thanks to the gardeners. I walk there every day with my dogs and it is such a sanctuary! Beautifully maintained which I am sure is a challenge in these times.
  16. I am currently using Peter Russell of Meaby & Co. Very pleased with the service and they have been super quick!
  17. This seems worthy of support, if not extra hands to help. Thought I would put a note on here to see if anyone can contribute http://www.pecan.org.uk/holiday-club
  18. So glad you found him - when you told me what had happened this morning, I was very sad. Glad to hear it is good news
  19. I am looking to buy and have had real problems trying to view anything listed by Purple Bricks. It is all done through the website (obviously) and when I suggest a time, they come back with another one that doesn't work for me. There is nowhere to say "I am busy that day, can I do another day" so in the end I gave up.
  20. I used this company when I had a rat (shudder....) and they were excellent..http://www.kandopestcontrol.co.uk/. You can find him recommended on the forum as well.
  21. Another recommendation for Brad and his team. I'm getting them back in a couple of weeks to paint my kitchen so it is nice for Christmas! They do a great job and are always amazingly tidy.
  22. See tweet with photo. The dog is walked every morning by a woman and her daughter but I don't know their names :(. In case anyone recognises it
  23. About 20-25 of them racing around Overhill/Underhill Road. Driving very fast, all masked and doing wheelies etc. Extremely noisy and a bit scary. Though it is Halloween
