  1. Thank you. It is genuinely concerning how many people are impacted and living on the fringes financially, whilst needing time to grieve. X
  2. Sharing this tragically sad story about Kyla who has left behind three children, whilst her husband struggles to stay financially secure. Even if it?s a few pennies or pounds, it would be wonderful to support Fabian at this time. Fabian is a Southwark bin man and has been for many years, so please click the just giving link below and support if you can. Thanks 😊 https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/kayla-williams-fundraiser-set-up-to-pay-for-funeral-as-bereft-husband-tells-of-his-agony-self-isolating-in-the-home-where-she-died/ https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/kaylawilliamspeckham?utm_term=aErJAdkpA
  3. Hello all, I'm proper late to the party but super keen to join the group, it was a lifesaver when I had my first almost 3 years ago. Second due October. Feeling massive as well - I swear my norks need their own postcode and it's not a good thing! I'm not sure I'll be able to make a night out much before I start Mat leave, but hugely keen to hunt out cake coffee and sanity! All the best, Jennie (Oglander road)
  4. Hello EDFers. Looking for a carpenter who can help build some understairs storage solutions for us. We have tried the online companies but it's an old house and they only offer solutions in one standard size...We kinda know we're after just need someone to make it up... Also need to get some shelves in our kitchen and a cupboard, as well as some shelving in our bedroom. Appreciate any recommendations - if you are a carpenter please can you PM me examples of any under stairs examples. Many thanks Arthur / jennie.
  5. So we're over the winter (here's hoping) and we're thinking about installing a woodburner fire in the living room which means clearing the chimney, purchasing and installation. Not sure what we're talking about cost but if anyone is willing to share indicative costs and recommendations that would be great! Cheers ATC
  6. Steve and his team did out move yesterday from ED to Peckham, not far but such a big thing to do with a 10month old and two cats and 6 years of crap to deal with! We went for the full pack / move / unpack and they made it as stress free as possible. Even having to move a massive teak wardrobe out the front window of the bedroom didn't phase them. Nikki and team came in the day before, packed up 90% of the house and when we didn't have any more space for the boxes they left - move day the guys were early, and loading the vans took a few hours as the rest of the house was packed up and all the furniture (beds / cots) disassembled. Moving in was a breeze, and done in a few hours with the kitchen and living room fully unpacked. Steve is a real gent, Nikki is a bloody good organiser. Quite suprised to hear our job was their first unpack job - would never have guessed. All in all a great team who made quite a stressful experience significantly less manic. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. When you think about all the arbitrary costs entailed in moving, like mortgage valuations, surveys, etc.... Having Steve and team do their thing is really good value. Jennie

  8. Hi Alice, there isn't much difference in replacing / refurb. Refurb involves a lot of work often and the level and time can be the same as replacing. But clearly if your windows are in reasonably good nick (ours were beyond saving) then it is nice to keep them. Our new windows all in were about ?750 per window which is really good value as this includes painting.
  9. We can also recommend Steve and team's work. They undertook full replacement sashes in 6 windows (which included a 3 window bay). The work was impeccable and the price reasonable. Highly recommended, great bunch of guys. Wish we had done it sooner! Our house is much less drafts, quieter and most of all with bloody nice new windows if I do say so myself. Jennie
  10. Another recommendation for Sam - Sam just finished sorting out our bathroom floor and made good (far better than expectations actually) some previous work someone else had screwed up. Sam was polite and did a great job. Highly recommended.
  11. Another recommendation for Brad and team. He's professional and the team did a great job of our bedroom - great finish. The chaps were super clean and tidy. Thanks for the recommendation of Aaron who plastered the ceiling. Cheers guys!
  12. Not a restaurant but Ali Baba's juices on rye lane just in the lane next to the bussey building is great - he uses the adventurous fruits (dudhi fruit anyone?)from the mkt to make delish concoctions as well as some more regular juices. http://alibabajuice.tumblr.com Ali is a super nice fella as well
