  1. Tomorrow's show features a builder that worked a lot in East Dulwich. The couple who feature in it live in Lewisham but made contact with his other victims through the Forum. We all are trying to make sure he is not able to damage other people's lives - so watch the show! His company is Andrea Build and Design. And when they filmed late last year I understand he was still working as a builder though no longer in East Dulwich.
  2. This junction is a nightmare and lots of people with children and dogs (and both) struggle to get across it. I'm almost tempted to drive and park to take the path up to the woods - and I only live around the corner. I think we should put pressure on to get a green man installed.
  3. Any news on trains home tonight? Are there trains from Victoria? The National Rail website appears to say yes....
  4. For those who have PCs at home, I wanted to warn you about a new scam. You receive a phone call from an Indian call centre that claims to be Microsoft and they claim they have had a report that your machine is infected. They will then ask you to log onto your home machine, allow them to connect to it, ask for your credit card details and install some software on your machine to ?clean? it. In fact what they want is your banking and credit card details. It has happened to a friend of mine who has had to change all her details and have her PC wiped. They have called me twice and I said I wasn?t interested. They then quite abusive towards me and I had to threaten to call the police before they hung up. Here is a link from an Australian web site ? they are obviously moving onto the UK now http://apcmag.com/phone-con-no-that-is-not-microsoft-calling.htm and here is a general warning from Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/protect/fraud/phishing/msname.aspx
  5. We had a similar thread about Dulwich Park which operates on the 8am opening as well. I think all park users should put pressure on the council to open parks earlier so people can jog etc. Especially now they have put the outdoor exercise machines in Dulwich as well as Peckham
  6. Spot on First Mate - that is the dog. Next time I will get a picture of the owner too!
  7. I know this man and avoid him when I see him in the park. He can't control his dog. But he is obviously avoiding the park at the moment - I saw him this morning about 8.15 near the Barcelona tapas bar, walking his dog on a lead.
  8. Thanks James. There is a precedent in Lambeth, where one park is opened earlier than the others (Ruskin). Don't know the history, but I presume there is a demand for it? We know that Quadron staff arrive early and they often do leave the gates opened, but some of the early morning users were told this would have to stop. If they are there, all we are asking is that they aren't told they have to lock the gates behind them. Dulwich park is slightly unusual in that lots of school kids and commuters go through it. If it is locked till 8, they have to go all the way around. Maybe that could help the decision??? :)
  9. We have support from Toby Eckersley, a Southwark councillor, who writes (in an email) " Subject to resource/organisational constraints I would support in principle an earlier opening of the park than 8am, even in winter." So - email your councillor and see what we can do!
  10. Those have always been the opening hours, but in fact the main gate was opened earlier for deliveries to the cafe and the Court Lane gate has been open earlier (that is where most of the staff come through). As we understand it, the proposal is for them to not permit early morning deliveries (bread to be left at the main gates) and to lock court lane as they come through then come around again and open it at 8.
  11. It is for a couple of weeks about now but soon starts to get light again. I've been using it for years at this time and there is quite a crowd of people who walk their dogs and jog. It is just recently they have decided not to allow it to be open until 8. To our knowledge, there has never been any incident.
  12. The park is used by lots of dog walkers, cyclists and joggers early in the morning. They now want to keep it locked until 8am. By that time, those who work will be heading in. Please help us by sending the following to your local councillor(s)http://www.southwark.gov.uk/Public/Councillor.aspx We are writing to request that earlier opening and wider accessibility of the park be incorporated in the current proposed changes to the park opening arrangements. As daily early morning users of Dulwich Park for exercise and dog walking for many years, we, and many others have enjoyed the park between 7 and 8am ? the majority of us work and will be unable to use it at all if it is not open until 8am. We would very much like an earlier opening to be considered so that access to the park can be maximised for the benefit and enjoyment of all local residents. Many thanks!
