  1. Our builders did a neat job of shifting our oven, dishwasher, fridge / freezer and washing machine into our dining room while our works have been taking place. Didn't take them long and it's been a really way of reducing the disruption. We got one of these portable induction jobs (which run off a normal mains socket) too, which has been really helpful: https://www.aldi.co.uk/ambiano-double-induction-hob/p/802950435939400 Good luck with your works!
  2. Hello everyone, Tulse Hill Juniors FC are looking to recruit more players into our Under 12s football team for the 2020/21 season. This would be for players moving into Year 7 this coming September. We train on Saturday mornings in Dulwich Park and play matches on Sundays (usually mornings) between September-May. We've been with the club for two years now and found it very friendly, our sons have learned lots, and the club is very accommodating if there are school team matches which clash with training. If you are interested and would like to find out more, please call or leave a message with our Head Coach Jarrad on 07947657922. (The club also has teams at other ages for boys and girls. You can find out more about the other age groups here: https://www.tulsehilljfc.co.uk)
  3. Do be careful with the performance data. Schools are complex things and boiling them down to a few stats doesn?t really tell the full picture. I?d really recommend visiting to get a proper feel for the school and getting feedback from parents who already have children at the school is also really valuable. It?s some years since we were looking at primary schools for our application, but I was impressed by Bessemer when we looked there. And parents whose children are there now seem positive about the school.
  4. Does this help at all? https://www.hyperoptic.com/press/posts/southwark-council-and-hyperoptic-partner-to-deliver-gigabit-enabled-broadband/
  5. I?m very happy to echo this recommendation. We?ve had Steve and Nichola sand floorboards for us at our old house and they?ve just done the bedrooms at our new place. The results are great and I?m still surprised at how they?ve managed to avoid any dust and mess in the rest of the house. Thoroughly recommended!
  6. Hi @alice, if it's not possible to find that using those then it's probably a Freedom of Information request.
  7. Oh, a bit of further clarification that might be useful. Maintenance and staff costs etc will be revenue budget (essentially paid for from the council's current account) and major works to the fabric of the park will be from the capital budget. There are strict rules about what councils can spend revenue and capital on, which can restrict the choices they can make.
  8. Hi @alice, their budget books are here: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/key-documents/budget-book and details of the council's spending is here: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/open-data.
  9. From a quick look at Southwark's budget book they've had to find ?1,230,000 in savings from the parks & open spaces budget over the last two years (c 18.5% of the total budget they had in 2016/17): * 2017/18: ?410,000 (https://www.southwark.gov.uk/assets/attach/4421/Environment%20and%20Social%20Regeneration%20Budget%20Book%202017-18.pdf - p32) * 2018/19: ?820,000 (https://www.southwark.gov.uk/assets/attach/6432/Budget%20book%202018-19%20-%20Environment%20and%20Social%20Regeneration.pdf - p33) Some context on the general picture across local authorities here in case it's of interest: https://www.local.gov.uk/about/news/council-funding-be-further-cut-half-over-next-two-years-lga-warns.
  10. Sounds like you've got exciting plans Jay & Gosia, all the best of luck! I was very pleased to be able to pop by and pick up my loaf this morning, thanks for keeping us provided for at this end of ED. :)
  11. There's a Civil Aviation Authority consultation on aviation noise impact here: https://consultations.caa.co.uk/policy-development/aviation-noise-impacts/. I've filled that in and have also written to Helen Hayes to ask whether she is working with other MPs in areas affected by flight paths to lobby government about this. I'm strongly of the view that the noise from flights into Heathrow and City has become much worse in recent years. Apart from the occasional week when Easterly winds mean the flightpath reverses, the flights are incessant (I took this set of photos in a ten minute period a few weeks ago: http://bit.ly/toomanyplanes). I think that the concentration of the flightpath (so aircraft are flying on a tighter route) might be part of the issue. Maybe it depends on individuals' sensitivity to noise or how close your home is to the flightpath, but personally I find the persistence really annoying. While I understand that the planes do need to land, I'm not clear why the flightpath can't be varied from week to week to provide some respite... :(
  12. Hi @Sue, my understanding is that the people who own Barry also own the shop next door where Jade is (I think they've owned it since the newsagent sold up). As per @Artful's post, following Jade's decision to close the Barry people are going to be continuing to sell bread etc there (still getting the bread from Jade I think), so I've got my fingers crossed that it'll all work out OK...
  13. Blimey, we appear to have a pavement again... The novelty of an unobstructed walk down to Lordship Lane for the first time in 20 months is a bit overwhelming. (Thanks for helping to put the pressure on them James.)
  14. Response from Cosmur (Old Police Station developers) to my latest moaning email. ---- *Their first reply* Thank you for your email, we are doing our utmost to open the pavement as soon as possible. The pavement works were inspected by the Local Authority on Friday and passed, so are now working to clean up, before we can re-open, which will be in due course. *Their reply to my follow up email asking whether 'due course' will be within my lifetime* Yes, I can confirm that we are definitely aiming to re-open the payment before 2017. ---- So, the pavement may well be back soon. Which would be good news, but obviously doesn't the issue of why the Planning folk let them occupy it for nearly two years in the first place........
  15. Hi James, thanks for keeping the pressure on re: the Old Police Station. They really are so frustrating! I've sent the developer another stroppy note this evening (cc you - sent before I saw your update). I appreciate your efforts on this. Rob
  16. Thanks for continuing to follow that up James. Much appreciated. Rob
  17. Hi Pipsky, re: the Old Police Station, James flagged that the actual development is in Peckham Rye ward (http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,336529,1741692#msg-1741692). But as we live in East Dulwich ward he's our Councillor so I'm glad he's put the case to the developer and Council officers. The joy of ward boundaries... Rob
  18. Hi James, just checking in re: the Old Police Station. Are the Council officers lined up to enforce the expiry of the licence on Tuesday? I'm looking forward to the pavement being back in public use next week... Long overdue. 19. Thanks for the update James and for following up. Let's hope they force the developer to reopen the pavement in a few weeks then...!
  20. Thanks James. To be honest though, I'd have thought that the planning officers should be insisting on construction and traffic management plans as standard for developments like this. I really struggle to see how they ever thought it would be acceptable (or maybe they just didn't ask?). It's good to have Councillors looking out for the local impact, but this should be taken care of as part of the normal process...
  21. James Barber's responded to the question on his thread about this and has said that he'll follow up with Council officers... I've had a reply from the developers to the email I sent at the weekend asking when it will end. I've posted that on James' thread here: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,336529,1741508,page=168#msg-1741508. Not sure I'm very confident we'll have the path back by Christmas...
  22. Update from the Old Police Station developers following my email to them over the weekend: ---- As soon as the Utility companies have completed all the necessary works, which will hopefully be within the next three to four weeks, we will then endeavour to reinstate the footpath. The overall target completion date for this project is December. As always we would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused. ---- *makes diary note to chase in three weeks' time...*
  23. Thanks James, much appreciated. They've gone well beyond any reasonable timescale for the level of disruption they're causing...
  24. Just a note to echo the Artful post above. James -- the Old Police Station development has been going on for quite long enough. Is there anything you can do to get our footpath back?
  25. I've just checked back and reminded myself how long this has been going on for... (I had a ranty email conversation with the developers nearly a year ago and included James Barber in that - and it had been going on forever by then already). It really is beyond... I wonder what could be done to force some resolution to this?
