I watched it and I was really enjoying it and then, at the end, this clip popped up. I was watching that clip and I suddenly realised that I was at this gig.... so long ago... but I was there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxFuxp1WyGY&feature=related Early 80s, Albert Hall. Clapton, Beck, Jimmy Page, Andy Fairweather Low, Ray Cooper, Bill Wyman. Even Charles and Diana were there that night and it was in the days they were still speaking to each other (yes, that long ago). and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93ubRaUm2J0&NR=1
  2. Kim's Watermelon Gun - The Flaming Lips
  3. Man! I Feel Like A Woman! - Shania Twain
  4. Ondine - have you been to Lisdoonvarna? I accidentally pulled a mad Irish bastard there years ago. It's the matchmaking town. Who knew? Not me. I couldn't get out of dodge fast enough.
  5. Piano for a Stripper - Stereophonics
  6. Sorry to hear that Ondine. It's gone 12.00; have a wee drop - go on.
  7. A lap dance is so much better when the stripper is cryin' - Bloodhound Gang
  8. Rock 'n' Roll Nigger - Patti Smith
  9. Words - Neil Young
  10. Oh dear God - I actually have a tear in my eye. Glad she's home.
  11. I went to see the B52s in Camden last week and now I've taken to listening to them in the mornings. I'm definitely a lot perkier when I leave the house.
  12. I do have many issues with TV (lowest-common-denominator programming being pretty high up there) but really the main thing is that I ditched TV when it went face first into the reality-TV trough. Reality TV is part and parcel of this awful celebrity-culture cult that is sucking the life out of culture today. I don?t want Jordan and Peter Andre in my living room and I am sad that so many people obviously DO want them. If you switch on a TV, even just to watch the news, you are exposed to the inanities of BB/ X factor / Shagging Island / I?m a Celebrity (says who?) Get Me Out Of Here etc ? there just isn?t any escaping them once the box is switched on. I?m not good at blocking these things out. Bob ? I?m sure you?re spot on about BBC4's viewing figures. That?s something else to be depressed about! I?m not wearing a badge of honour; I just truly did vote with my feet and ditched the box. I still watch DVDs.
  13. You Oughta Know - Alanis Morissette
  14. Tie Your Mother Down - Queen
  15. Menier Chocolate Factory is a fantastic venue - and easy access for South London / ED.
  16. Yes I do agree. A few years ago the "business" was manufacturing boy and girl bands right left and centre. They were easy to spot; you could see them coming and get out of the way. Right now there are so many manufactured (to my mind) indie bands. One band is interchangeable with another. Instantly forgettable.
  17. Excuse me. Are you the Judean People's Front? F*ck off! We're the People's Front of Judea
  18. My problem with TV is that it?s dumbed right down to lowest-common-denominator level. If there is anything on there which might be deemed ?good? then it goes to DVD and I do watch the occasional DVD on my laptop.
  19. The RSC's Hamlet (David Tennant - Hamlet and Patrick Stewart - Claudius), in London this December, has 99% sold out already to RSC members and doesn't go to public booking until 12 September. There are only a handful of nosebleed seats left but if anyone on the Forum really wants to see this and doesn't mind sitting in crap seats then PM me and I'll help if I can. http://www.rsc.org.uk/buyonline/booktickets/tickets/production.aspx?PerformanceNumber=7121
  20. L'amour Looks Something Like You - Kate Bush
  21. Yes I'm highly selective about what I listen to, what I read etc. TV is more intrusive. For example, if you watch something on C4 you get plugs for Big Brother in all the ad breaks whether you want them or not. You don't just get what you want; you get the ad breaks and the trailers and the plugs. Whereas, if you buy an Elbow CD you just get Elbow.
  22. Let's not forget Danny. My favourite moment in the whole film is when he takes of his sunglasses. I don't advise a haircut, man. All hairdressers are in the employment of the government. Hairs are your aerials. They pick up signals from the cosmos, and transmit them directly into the brain. This is the reason bald-headed men are uptight.
  23. I daresay that there might possibly be 10 hours decent viewing in a week. But the prospect of trawling through all the dross to find it is enough to make me want to open up a vein. Truly.
  24. Bruce walks on water and can do whatever he wants. I've just come back from a week in New York. Don't even get me started on American TV. OK then - "infomercials" - WTF?
  25. I spent last Thursday night in a hotel and I had a little tour of the telly with the remote whilst I was there. Granted I was drunk at the time but I saw nothing but 57 channels and nothin' on.
