    10 veg a day

Sorry to poop the vegetable-dissing party, but the fact is that our digestive systems were made for us to exist on a diet primarily made up of fruit and vegetables. We don't eat nearly enough - the so called "5 a day is laughable". Worse, lots of supermarket produce is imported so it's picked before it's ripe so that it doesn't rot on the journey. I picked up a bag of lettuce the other day and it had come from the US! What are we doing importing lettuce from America - that should be coming from English growers. It's not a matter of patriotism; you source your fruit and veg as close to home as possible so that it doesn't have so far to travel and has maximum nutrients. If you really can't stomach eating vegetables, then buy a decent blender, make a green smoothie and knock it back quick. Fact is, as a nation we're over-fed and mal-nourished.
  2. Sad loss. The Donny Osmond poster was a step back in time.
  3. For those of us who are technically challenged, is it possible to post a direct link? Thanks.
  4. I have CCTV at my property, which was installed by CCTV Camera Europe. Excellent service so I would like to recommend them, but my reason for posting here is that I had this rather unusual email this morning about them looking for people who want to tackle unusual problems using CCTV and appear on TV. I'm posting in case it is of interest to anyone. "I have been approached by Channel 4 (CCTV in Britain) and Channel 5 (Caught on Camera) looking to film how CCTV can effectively deter and solve problems. The bigger / more unusual the problem, the better, so if you are experiencing something like continual antisocial behaviour or siginifcant theft, then you could be suitable. I'm prepared to install FREE HD CCTV upgrades, so final CCTV Installation will be seriously impressive and it is a WIN WIN situation for everyone. If you or your business are interested in appearing on TV and want to tackle a problem using CCTV, please let me know? Kate Bush

Running up that bill..... Still plenty of seats available on Eventim but you'll need to throw some serious time at it. Tickets will trickle back on and you'll need to be on the site at the right time, hitting your F5 button so that you can pick them up. If you haven't already figured it out, hit the "Event" button on the left hand side so that it separates the VIP tickets from the ordinary tickets. Like this: http://www.eventim.co.uk/kate-bush-tickets.html?affiliate=EUK&doc=erdetaila&fun=erdetail&action=tickets&erid=1168640&index_ytix=0&jumpIn=yTix&sort_by_ytix=event_name1&sort_direction_ytix=asc&scrollToAnchor=ticketTable If you don't have any luck then I suggest you try again between midnight and 1am tonight. She's not really for me but good luck to anyone who wants tickets. Persistence will pay off. I was lucky enough to see her perform live twice, both times with David Gilmour, and she was great.
  6. Hi midivydale - if you really need to spring clean your appearance then you'll need to use a face cream which has active ingredients. Most products available in the shops have few active ingredients, although they often have huge marketing budgets! Given that you're also struggling with roseacea, you might like to consider going to a dermatologist. Try googling Tretinoin or Obagi. These are the types of creams that a dermatologist or medical practitioner would sell. You use tiny tiny amounts of these products, at bedtime. Sometimes a first-time user displays signs of dryness, but this is usually temporary. To be clear, nothing you buy over the counter will change your skin; for that you need retinals/retinoids. Obagi is very powerful and effective and you must buy it from a reputable source. People actually sell this on ebay but you should stay well clear. If you go to the website you can find legitimate places to buy. http://obagi.uk.com/ Feel free to PM me if you want to know where to get it. Personally, I use Tretinoin (0.025% proof) a couple of times a week at bedtime. If your current condition is caused by sun-damage then consider laser treatment. Nothing is more ageing than sun-damaged skin and to redress the damage you need to take drastic action - like a laser peel. The rest of the time I use ordinary moisturisers, as it is important to keep the skin hydrated. I have used lot of different products but the range I keep coming back to is Eminence, which is a range of organic natural products that have been around for over 50 years. Buy here http://theskinsmith.co.uk/ I particularly recommend the Lavender Night Eye Cream and the Sun Defence Mineral Powder (SPF 30). I am also fond of Trilogy's Rosehip Oil when I need a moisture surge! http://www.trilogyproducts.com/products/range/rosehip-oil?gclid=CIn50q7Dj70CFVKWtAoddGoAcA Aside from all this, I'm a firm believer that you are what you eat, so pay attention to your diet. It's a cliche that everyone bangs on about drinking a lot of water - but it is true. If I don't drink 2 litres a day minimum, my skin feels less hydrated. For make-up, keep it simple and don't buy too many products which will clutter up your make-up bag and you won't use. At the moment I'm using a lot from the Charlotte Tilbury range, which you can get from Selfridges. It really comes down to personal choice. http://www.charlottetilbury.com/ Your daytime moisturiser/foundation should always have minimum of 30SPF, even in winter, but use a product with no SPF if you're getting your photo taken as otherwise the flash will bounce off the SPF and make you look like a ghost (e.g. it's a disaster for a bride to wear an SPF on her wedding day. Oh, and get your eyebrows professionally shaped - that's a very cheap face-lift.
  7. I understood about 15% of that SJ. But it like it.
  8. Never been on this thread before. You're a lively lot. So I need a PS3 then? So I can play GTA5? I'm looking to form my own posse so I can hold up convenience stores and cause mayhem (in my spare time)
  9. Is there any point getting a PS4? It doesn't seem to have any good games. Why can't you play GTAV on PS4? Or can you?
  10. Misi - false economy and you're making the process more stressful for yourselves. Go with No Flies, local firm, local knowledge, flat fee of ?3k regardless of how much your house sells for. http://no-flies.co.uk/
  11. A while back there were some very bad reviews of the Leisure Centre. I seem to remember that one of the main problems was that it was difficult to get into the classes. Are there any current members who can say what the situation is now? I am thinking of joining but if I can't get access to the classes then there is no point and I can do without the frustration. Thank you.
  12. Yes, very well done at the Royal Court. Outstanding. If you book your tickets for the West End play via the Royal Court, you get a better deal. Here's a link http://www.royalcourttheatre.com/whats-on/let-the-right-one-in-west-end?dm_i=1P0Z,27JWS,9M60DD,7ZXU3,1
  13. Let The Right One In, which I saw at the Royal Court before Christmas and is transferring to the West End. I can recommend it highly but it is scary. I saw 1984 at the Almeida last week. Very well done but a bit grim (obviously). Next week me and Hibbs are going to see the lovely and talented Lesley Sharp in A Taste of Honey. It is getting good reviews.
  14. Seven pages and still running. I just came across this safety light for cyclists. Good idea or not? https://www.blaze.cc/product/lights/laserlight

    BAFTAs

To be honest I keep my head down during the awards season because there are too many of them. BAFTAs, Golden Globes, Oscars, Grammys, Brits and on and on and on. It's the time of year when hardly a week goes by without celebs getting awards for something or other. It's very unreal and feeds the celebrity culture. I like looking at the dresses but I don't care who wins. Px
  16. Katanita - most sensible post I've read in a long time - well done. Px
  17. The Rivoli Ballroom is a magical place but I wouldn't go and see Damon Albarn if he was doing a free gig in the EDF - I am not a fan. This is a paperless event and tickets are not being touted on Seatwave or anywhere else. It's lovely to see live music in small venues and it's always going to be a problem when demand outstrips supply. If he played the O2 would that make people happier? When big artists play small venues it is normal for the event to be paperless (as this one is), so I really don't understand the problem. Seetickets is a joke of a website and it throws up all kinds of error messages when tickets go on-sale. Keep hitting F5 until the tickets load (which they will) and you get to a buying screen.
  18. My best time is today, this morning having my coffee and listening to long-forgotten hits. You've got to live in the now. I'm not liking the title of this thread, which suggests that the best has gone. I don't think that's what Otta intended though and, that said, there are some nice memories on here. Px
  19. *Bob* Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Looks like The Hudson is one to avoid. > > http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g60763-d > 223023-Reviews-Hudson_New_York_Hotel-New_York_City > _New_York.html Public areas are fabulous but the rooms are so small they're beyond a joke. There is a glass partition between the minute bathroom and the bedroom. WTF! When I am in the bathroom I want to be surrounded by solid walls. Privacy! You can go get take-away and bring it back and eat it in say, the outside courtyard area, which is really lovely. The bars can get busy in the evenings, which is annoying if you're just trying to get a drink at your hotel. I had an OK stay at the Hudson but I wouldn't rush back. Like Jeremy has said - it's more interesting to be downtown in Chelsea/Meatpacking/East Village etc.
  20. I had the same problem and the only way ahead, for me, was to raise my roof and get my neighbour to raise theirs too. In the end I decided not to go ahead. I didn't get as far as applying for planning permission. I used Prestige Build who work mainly in SE22 (their vans are becoming ubiquitous). They have many recommendations on this forum. Not cheap but they do top work.
  21. Hudson Hotel is very nice (have also stayed there), but it really isn't near Times Square. Unless there is a specific reason why you need to be near Times Square I'd avoid it like the plague - it's a dump. The Hudson is at Columbia Circus, Central Park. Very nice public areas but the rooms are tiny and the bathrooms aren't that private (worth considering if you're sharing a room). There is always some trendy new hotel opening in NYC and Trip Advisor is always helpful http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotels-g60763-New_York_City_New_York-Hotels.html Have stayed at many New York Hotels and I don't have a favourite. The Library Hotel always gets good reviews and I mean to try it some time but it hasn't happened yet. I've stayed at the Andaz and it was nice. Last trip I stayed at the Gansevoort. Very spacious rooms and nice staff. Kim Kardshian was living there at the time. The whole bloody pantomime every time she walked through the lobby was hilarious. If you're on a tight budget then consider staying at the Chelsea Lodge. I've stayed here to keep the costs down when I've needed to be in the city for more than a week. http://www.chelsealodge.com/Suites.html I stayed in a garden suite which was lovely. Hope this helps. Do go and see Sleep No More, which is fabulous: http://www.sleepnomore.com/
  22. Well done NickT I also have CCTV but I have no DIY skills so my CCTV was installed and is maintained by Camera Europe, who I can highly recommend (they also do the Ivy House). http://www.cctv-installers-london.com/
  23. Why - because jamescpr90 registered on the forum just this morning and has so far made two snide posts.
  24. Were they the wrong type of leaves?
  25. I'm very loyal to St Christopher's.
