    Where did UDT go?

You forget the famous 'And the meek have low self-esteem issues' sermon on the mount. I think that also had the 'Blessed are the Jeans Makers' bit, too.
  2. Really? Whilst he got the results, I never really saw him as an amazing captain. Hardly a Vaughan - more in the Ponting mould of being in the right place at the right time. And he was second choice after KP for the job.
  3. I am in the pro camp, but recognise that a lot of checks need to be incorporated to ensure that people aren't being guilt-tripped into suicide by relatives with dodgy motives.

Especially as England long subsumed its identity to the 'United Kingdom' project. But Tarot doesn't seem to worry about that one.

Have a look in your user manual under 'End of Programme' and it should tell you how to change the beep volume and/or turn it off completely.

I worked in a pub in 1991 and a pint of Kronenberg was ?1.65. Mind you that was not the cheapest of pubs. I think others in London were charging about ?1.40-?1.50 at the time. Out in the sticks was even cheaper.

Even back in the mid-90's you could get to Oz for ?399 (Britannia Air... oh, God... never again.). I have made the flight every year or two for the last 20-odd years and, really, the price has not really changed one iota in that time. The only time I have ever paid over a grand or even ?900 for economy is a booking for a December/Xmas journey, when all prices go silly unless you get your booking in early around January.

Actually, back around 1990 it used to cost about ?750 on average for me to to fly to Oz (which I do every year or two). It still does cost that. Pretty much zero increase in 20 years, which is a huge fall in real terms.

  11. Not winding you up at at all. E.g. I have no idea how much the last owner of my house paid in fees to their agent. I believe that, under law, I am not entitled to that information. I really cannot see the difference between a non-transparent agency fee and a non-transparent agent fee. Both are... um... non-transparent. And you keep saying it's against some statute - which statute is this??

Perhaps but the point is > that he or she doesn't have the chance to make > that decision. But the agency is already getting a 'kickback' - about 1.5% to 2% of the selling price. The particular agent who makes the sale is almost certainly on commission. Chucking another ?250 into the pot is hardly changing the selling model, is it? No buyer should ever think an agent is on their side. Though, for that matter, no seller should either. PS What statute prevents this happening? What law does it transgress?

I'm not sure I see the problem with this - how is it different to a tip, etc?

I'm 'style agnostic'. It might exist, but I don't care. Style and fashion are both very much like religions. Everyone thinks theirs is the only true way. The rest of us non-believers think they are all equally hatstand.

  18. Can't we get it moved to Nunhead? :)
  19. I am not reading all that crap. Can anyone summarise it in 20 words or less?

  23. Whooah - outstanding test match. As a neutral I was on the edge of my seat. The tails wagged more than Battersea Dogs Home and Prior had more lives than a cat. Can't say I like Prior as a person, but he's the best out there when the chips are down. I think England will be ruing the two unnecessary run outs. Big moments both of them.
