  2. Insurance quotes are ridiculous, full stop. A few years ago I did the comparison site thing, and found one of the cheapest was my current insurer - offering a good 20% lower than my renewal notice. I rang them up and the person in the callcentre sheepishly said she couldn't match the price, even though it was the same company. She advised me to buy the 'new' policy and let my old one lapse.
  3. It's been done for centuries, as anyone who has been to the Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague will know.
  4. My maths is good, but my reading skills suck. I did cross Sue's post with Seabag's. > If you use 2 as a base, and you missed a ^, (2^366 - 1) :-) I thought I'd managed to use superscript - it shows up OK on my browser.

ScabbyBadger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Three fluffer posts in the space of an hour *strokes chin* Two from long standing forumites and one from someone that's been around for about a year. What exactly are you implying, considering you only registered three weeks ago and have posted exclusively upon this thread?
  6. Grok Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > As barber is active, only on subjects that suit his own ends Except that's not true, is it? He engages with all (even the abusive, mean spirited ones) on just about any subject that comes up that involves the council. His long-running thread has been useful to many, many people. I remember he was all in favour of the CPZ that was rejected, but still engaged with the antis and provided useful information and helped get the delegation heard. Some people just have it in for him because he fails to agree with their point of view on each and every subject (a bit like they expect of every politician). Considering some of the abuse he receives on here from some people, I think he has the patience of a saint.
  7. People forget that in their rush to criticise James Barber. Agree or disagree with him on a subject, you should be pleased to have one of the few really proactive councillors around.
  8. These guys seem to suggest they still have some in stock... http://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/heritage-fairport-4-hole-bath-shower-mixer-tsc074-tsfc00.aspx
  9. pipsky2008 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is it true that 20,000 is 0.001% of 4,000,000? No, it's not. 0.001% of 4,000,000 is 40. 20000 would be 0.5% of 4,000,000.
  10. Seabag Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If I start with a ?1 where do I get to by day 365 > > I'm thinking big here That would be (2366 - 1), which is 7.5153 x 10109. Or a little over a billion googol quid.
  11. I'm more of a movies person than a series binger, so Netflix is starting to be a bit rubbish for me. Does anyone have Amazon Prime and, if so, how is it for movies? Thinking that I might swap soon.
  12. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > A white South African is not of African heritage/ethnicity. Ethnicity I could possibly agree with at a push, but heritage? Are you saying that generations from nearly four centuries of white Saffers do not have a heritage in Africa? That the generations in the 70 or so years from the Windrush do not have a heritage in the UK? How about people we would today consider 'West Indian'? Non-native US people (including, of course, blacks)? Canadians/Australians?
  13. I spent a morning in Brazil sitting on a boat in the Amazon fishing for piranha. At lunchtime we went for a swim in the same river. As long as you are not bleeding in any way, it is quite safe. They are not like in the movies at all. Crocodiles, on the other hand...
  14. Just in time for Christmas - a classic Guardian article. The comments underneath are well worth a read. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/dec/22/lego-mini-figure-disability-toy-disabled-children

  16. I suspect it is because cigarettes are known to harm health, whereas no conclusion on e-cigs have been found yet. It's not the nicotine in ciggies that causes the harm, it's all the other crap in them.
  17. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > http://www.urban75.net/ I think I just upset the Most Easily Offended person to ever step foot into East Dulwich. Made all the more funnier by their own profile description: "Definitely NOT a "5 minute clueless c***"". If the clocks on both sites are correct, it actually took 13 minutes.

There are usually quite a few in there. Rent is usually similar the to the standard rental amount you'd pay for longer periods.
  20. Given the recent gas cooker thread, "eStove"?
  21. Take out the tape, cut into 1m lengths and - hey, presto - you have some grey tinsel to decorate your Christmas tree, suitably countering all that jolly red, green and yellow stuff.

Of course, the sign doesn't have to be missing from the actual route you took. They don't know how you entered the zone. Find a missing sign and that can be your (new) entry point!

  24. beagle1 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hilarious suggestion that the drumming coinciding with last night's match came from anywhere but the > stadium. So... in other words you are guessing and dismissing the point of someone who was actually at the match who said there was no drumming. And you wonder why no one will take you seriously.
  25. Shhh, foxy, or the 'Southwark Woods' people will be all over here like a rash.
