  1. I've not been to the one on DKH since before lockdown but the large superstore at Bell Green in Sydenham is really well stocked and not too long to get in as well
  2. Hi All. We live in Nunhead and I came down with C-19 symptoms on Monday, had a rough week but have turned a corner now. I'm in quarantine in the spare bedroom whilst my wife and Son are self isolating too. We're not able to get out the house for another 10 days and were wondering if any bakery's local are delivering? Luca on NCR or Ayres in Nunhead?
  3. Seems like smaller local shops are better than supermarkets at present. Thankful that this area of London still has community highstreets that have butchers bakers etc rather than mobile phone repair and vape shops
  4. Question: My mother is 80, she is house bound as well as now on lockdown, lives in Essex 1hr drive away. How am I supposed to get food for her?
  5. This madness is everywhere but seems to be worse around here than many places. Popped to see my 80 year old mother in Essex today and the local Tesco's was fairly well stocked. They had brought measures in to limit the amount people were buying. Only 1x loaf of bread, 1x pain killers, 1x loo roll, 1x UHT milk and x3 packs of rice per person. Sainsburys DKH has been suffering with stock for a few weeks now, you'd expect this to be controlled. FYI if you want Loo roll or pain killers a tip is petrol stations the morons haven't thought of going there yet
  6. if you are panic buying please don't forget your condiments
  7. All changed a while back in Nunhead. Now when our curtains are closed it looks like dawn at 3am.

  9. over in Nunhead SE15 we had no Virgin Media broadband Saturday > Sunday morning. On calling 'customer service' I was informed that there was an area fault that will effect speeds and connection. This fault is due to be fixed... December the 25th! Maybe Santa's red suit means he works for Virgin. Apparently this 'fault' which is due to 'high demand' was reported in April. Thats a good 8 months to sort it out. A joke of a company with useless customer service
  10. many houses suffered last summer with the long period of dry weather, internal plaster cracks tended to close up a lot earlier this year but are opening up again now even more with the hot spell. One of the joys of living in south east London
  11. I'd recommend taking any unwanted toys to Kings Hospital. We've dropped several bags loads over the past few years to the children's A&E dept and they are happy to take them. Having had to take our child there a few times, having some toys to take their mind off other things when they're in discomfort is a real benefit. FYI they will not take soft toys like teddies.
  12. I'd contest it, clearly has a dashed line near the traffic light allowing cars to go left
  13. Maybe reconsider how you post your views. Whilst trying to raise awareness of an issue you've witnessed, your tone is pompous and derogatory, causing offence to many people. My Dad was a cockney and proud of it, born in the sound of bow bells at Barts. I too have a broad London accent as I was born and brought up in this great City. My whole adult life I've had to put up with people making assumptions of who I am based on their prejudice of my regional accent. Good to see this stereotyping is alive and well in East Dulwich.
  14. Fact is nobody really cares about the 20mph limit as the police never enforce it. If you drive at 20mph anywhere in London including Southwark you have cars inches from the rear trying to pressure you into going faster. EVERY bus that goes past our house - 343 484 P12 goes way in excess of 30mph down tight residential streets completely ignoring the speed limit. I've been on buses and asked the driver to slow down only to be arrogantly dismissed. If TFL are to introduce this limit London wide then hopefully they'll put limiters on their buses.
  15. This is a classic EDF post. A lot of irate people on here. Well calculated by Southwark to start this scheme during the summer when flora are growing fast and need continual cutting. FYI a lot of other London boroughs are already charging for garden waste collection, some have been mentioned by others on here. IMO the additional charge is not too bad, Havering where my mother lives charges ?70 P/A which is a bit steep especially as they make no reduction for low income or elderly households. If you're worried about others using your brown bin and you have a back garden maybe keep it there. If you've already paid welldone for being proactive. Enjoy the summer
  16. @TheArtfulDogger I'm curious do you always post clickbait ?
  17. @blinkylilyput it is crazy. Obviously I paid it as I was there with an excited child but the price is madness especially as you're just there to accompany the child. Its a similar approach when you take them to softplay @Gambado Beckenham, the price of an adult is about ?12 which is madness.
  18. @penguin68 @minitonka I agree, as mentioned in my original post it was my first time at EDPH and I thought it was a really nice place - clean, friendly, with a good food choice which I didn't expect (I brought sandwiches for my lad but he'd have loved the mac&cheese) it was just the cost of an adult ticket for a kids show. I'm sure I'll return, we don't go the cinema much so it was a nice treat, and I'll also check out peckplex at some point too, love a cheap dive lol.
  19. @El Presidente - you're missing the point of the original post. I paid the entry fee, I was at the cinema with my Son. I was enquiring if there were cheaper alternatives locally, as the fee for an adult to accompany a child for what is a toddlers film is excessive. Maybe unless you have constructive comments don't reply. It's not complicated.
  20. Thanks for the tip, will try PeckPlex next time. I was captured yesterday though being at the till with my lad, him excited and me not wanting to disappoint
  21. Just sharing my experience of crazy pricing structure at Dulwich Picture House. I took my toddler Son to watch the Peppa Pig film there and was shocked that for the two of us it cost +?22. They have children priced at ?8.30 and adults at ?14.50! How on earth can they justify ?14.50 for an adult to accompany a child to watch Peppa Pig? This was the first time I'd taken him to a cinema and my first trip to DPH which was a lovely environment, but is this standard practice for children's film to charge so much? Is it cheaper to go to a standard multiplex?
  22. Is the mass of the potato relative to the overall weight? Does the size of the saucepan matter?
