  1. Has anybody had multi-focal lenses inserted following cataracts? If so, what pros and cons did you find, were they vastly expensive, did you still have to wear glasses for some things, and would they have to be replaced at some point? I'm very short sighted and presently have varifocal glasses and multi-focal daily contact lenses for occasional wear, but I'm getting cataracts and beginning to look at options.

Surely the delivery driver is supposed to wait and make sure the parcels are collected, and if they aren't to try a neighbour/leave a card to say they've done that, or take them away again to redeliver? Were they just left outside? In that case, I would complain to Amazon.

  4. Sending hugs, NewWave. Does the shop where you work not ask customers to wear masks?
  5. I'm pretty sure it wasn't added to mine!
  6. I'd have been up for that, but I've had both mine too.
  7. I have a vague memory that there was a big sign up when I went for a blood test saying something about an HIV test. I have a vague memory that it was completely optional. I'm pretty sure that a GP would not request an HIV test directly unless there was a clinical reason for it which would have been discussed with the patient. I may be wrong, in which case surely this should be taken up with the GP and the relevant authorities as a matter of urgency?
  8. I had a tour of the Tower by the Ravenmaster a few years back, we were lucky as it isn't always him who does them. He was excellent. Surely he could only be sure she'd crossed the bridge if they had found a body?

  10. Not being funny, but is there any reason you thought they hadn't been left there by their owners?
  11. We should have a zero tolerance policy. Like New York did. Maybe.
  12. Brilliant! Lovely to have some good news!
  13. Poor fox! I'm not fond of magpies. They have nasty big pointy beaks and they seem to terrorise other birds 😶 In my garden anyway!

This article is > about possible reduction in 'cover' from Covid-19 > infection or severity, and not about any side > effects of taking a mRNA vaccine. Yes, that's just the abstract. The comment about the low dosage may or may not be correct but it was based on what somebody had written who had read the whole paper, as was the comment about Prednisolone. No it wasn't research about side effects. However given that (I believe) side effects relate to one's immune system reacting to the vaccine, lack of side effects could imply that it didn't, which would make sense if you have a compromised immune system due to taking steroids. I don't think it is the severity of the CID which is important - it is the dosage of steroids. But, as I said, preliminary research.
  15. Some very worrying preliminary (I stress preliminary) research has been done which suggests that even very low doses of a steroid such as Prednisolone can reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine. I think it was done with the Pfizer vaccine so it may not apply to other vaccines. Just a heads up that if you are on steroids you may not be as protected as you had hoped after your two jabs 😭 https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.04.05.21254656v1
  16. BBC Arts piece about the continuing project in the House of Dreams (in Melbourne Road) over lockdown. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=724558998211878
  17. I got two items today, both sent first class, one on 23 March and the other on 25 March. They were both financially related. It's still pretty poor service, isn't it? I'm in Ulverscroft Road.
  18. Now that has made me want a cup of lapsang, which I haven't tasted for decades. Long long ago there was a place on Lordship Lane (was it Le Chandelier?) which had a huge variety of teas to drink there. Can't remember if they sold the leaves to take away, though.
  19. Surely they are non essential shops so 12 April?
  20. I had my second jab at St Thomas's today. I hadn't noticed from the texts that my vaccination centre was a different one to last time, but it was on the same site, so no big deal. No queue at all outside, and only a ten minute wait when inside (plus the fifteen minute wait after, which is apparently only if you are having the Pfizer jab). So very much quicker than my first time, and seemingly quicker than yours, ianr? The person who gave me the jab said it had been a very steep learning curve for everybody but that they were now much more organised, which indeed seemed to be the case! In fact the worst wait was on the number 12 on the way there stuck in the traffic jam round the back of the Peckham shops, grrrrr.
  21. Mine are painted all white including the handrail 🙂
  22. Fantastic pic 😮
