  2. DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just a Long past Memory:- xxxxxxxx Yeh, like the days when you got several deliveries of post a day, and might even get the first one before you left for work in the morning ..... The olden days ..... like when you could buy broken biscuits by the pound :))
  3. maxxi Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dammit... now the Thread People are on to us! > > *trailer for upcoming summer blockbuster "Return > of the Thread People"* xxxxxxx :)) Beats the Killer Rabbits or the Wasp Woman :))
  4. prdarling Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Oh. Thanks. How rubbish xxxxxx Stamps are expensive enough as it is, without paying more for them to cover the costs of employing Royal Mail staff on Sundays to collect a few letters from people who didn't get it together to post on Saturday :)) Apologies for the very long sentence :))
  5. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- "What we are looking for is what is looking" xxxxxx Very profound/true signature, Alan M :) Never noticed it on your posts before. Though I would have put an "apparently" before the first "looking". Sorry, as you were thread people :))
  6. steveo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Were you using a Brownie 127 FatherJack? :)) If he was, the tiny pix would have been in black and white - I think :))
  7. karter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What Fuschia has described is not daft, parking > enforcement officers do not play fairly. James has > targets to hit and is rude. xxxxx Erm, James was saying that the behaviour of the parking attendants was daft, not Fuchsia. Why are you saying he is rude? It is clear that he is trying to help!
  8. Thanks, I'll have a look :)
  9. Good for you, Maria. Can you give us some idea of what would be in the bags, eg at this time of year?
  10. You can also get a 35 to London Bridge from Camberwell Green.
  11. I didn't send Daisy any instructions! I just suggested she PM her mobile number rather than posting it on here :)
  12. Grotty Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hmm, i'm a gardening novice after a bit of advice > - we have a victoria plum tree, planted 18 months > ago - last year didn't do much, this year has > burst with branches and leaves but no sign of > fruit - if it is going to fruit does anyone know > when we should expect to see the first signs of > some or is it too late? Thanks xxxxxxx Sounds like a very young tree so it is probably establishing itself before producing flowers and fruit.
  13. Senor Chevalier Wrote: What I do have in abundance right now though > is snails. I round them up occasionally but can't > quite bring myself to eat them. A delicious treat > for someone a bit less squeamish than me...? xxxxxxx I think you'll find the snails in your garden are not the same variety of escargots you would be served in a restaurant :)
  14. Taking it to Barclays Bank in Lordship Lane might also avoid the person having to cancel it :) But probably by the time they've seen your post on here they'll have already cancelled it :-S
  15. Very interesting but will be moved to the lounge in a flip of a fish's tail :) PS If you're ever in Oxford, visit The Goldfish Bowl, brilliant shop, Magdalen Road is between Cowley Road and Iffley Road.
  16. Thanks, it seems to have sorted itself out now touch wood, but if it happens again I'll certainly try that.
  17. Daisy, I've PMed you re your post (your post on here, I mean ...)
  18. Tarot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > There are two lime green long tailed parrots > flying around the North cross road area, very noisy > birds. xxxxxxx There are loads of these around the whole ED area, you cannot go to Peckham Rye park without seeing several, or at least hearing them! xxxxxxx > Did hear a while back that there were some > peregrine Falcons nesting in London. xxxxxxxxx They were nesting on the chimney of Tate Modern, I don't think they are there any more. The RSPB used to have a stall at the bottom where you could look through binoculars to see them. xxxxxxx > The largest bird I saw was a giant eagle owl, a > man had on a chain in LL Lane, beautiful creature. xxxxxxxx I have a photo of a Giant Owl taken in a bird sanctuary in India, I think it was Bharatpur. Not sure of the exact species but we were told it was the largest owl in the world. It certainly looks extremely big compared to the tree :)) Very sad to hear of a wild bird chained up in Lordship Lane, though.
  19. Vince Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Could it have been a white parrot? xxxxxx Well if the parrot man has it on a lead, he would have been dangling down from the bird while it flew :))
  20. QueenMab Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I don't think you need do anything really. If you start seeing them > regularly in your garden you might think about > calling the council or put down some poison, but > otherwise I wouldn't worry xxxxxxxx Very sensible advice :)
  21. AlanM Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > A man with a parrot lives in the house opposite me > on Whateley Road. Might be the same man or maybe > there are a few of them in ED! xxxxxxx Could well have been as The Actress is not far from Whateley Road. If the man takes the parrot for a walk, of course. Can't believe I've never seen him around here before :)
  22. Jo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > To follow up my husband swears it was a buzzard, > not a kestrel. xxxxxxx Must have been a buzzard, then :)) xxxxxxx Far too big to be a kestrel, he > says. I'd believe him rather than me, given how > small I used to think badgers are. xxxxxxxx I have the opposite thing, I used to think moles were as big as badgers :))
  23. Anyone else using Plusnet had connection problems in the last week or two?
  24. Did anybody else see a man with a large white parrot on his left shoulder (no crutch, no eyepatch, no seaweed in evidence) walking up Upland Road (Crystal Palace Road end) around 1pm today? We'd only just got to the Actress so it wasn't an effect of the excellent Broadside :))
