I'm all for recycling too, but the streets round my way (terraced houses) look awful with so many bins crammed into such small spaces.

  3. :)) Didn't know NYPD had a branch in Balham :))
  4. James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Also it might set a precidence > for a permanent hoarding xxxxxxx Yes, my thoughts exactly
  5. first mate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > More fox calls/vocalisations > xxxxxxxx Beautiful pictures of foxes on this too, thanks for that :)
  6. Just hearing screeching noises at the moment and it deffo sounds like foxes rather than cats to me ......
  7. pablogrande Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I forgot supergrass - I should coco > > And of course - the best of the Beatles xxxxx Best of the Beatles? How can that have been a debut album?! Please Please Me wasn't it?? ETA: Memo to self: Get off this thread :))

  9. YAY! FATHER TED!! :)-D
  10. DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Are we even allowed to call them Christmas Lights. > xxxxxxx There's no other festival around that time, is there? Diwali (festival of lights) is much earlier I think. So can't see why calling them Christmas lights would offend.

I still feel a little thrill every time I raise the lid - hadn't realised quite what a sad sad life I must lead :))

Safety mesh is a totally different thing to some huge and hideous advertising billboard on two sides of a prominent building in East Dulwich's main street. As somebody already said, we're surrounded by enough f*****g advertising in public places already. And we don't as yet know how "temporary" it will be.
  14. It's quite exciting putting teabags and onion skins into a little brown bin :))
  15. Are we sure this is just going to be temporary? And that it will actually disappear once the refurbishment is completed? If so I'm less inclined to be (6) but I cynically suspect that once people have got used to it being there it could become a permanent feature .....
  16. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Do you mean the gents toilet Sue or are you > sticking with 'gents'? xxxxxxx Good point :)) Not wishing to upset any former customers of the Foresters, I'll go with the toilet option :))
  17. Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You are right Moos - they should stick together. :)) Took me a while to get that, duh.
  18. cidered Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Foresters arms? is the bishop no more? xxxxxx The Bishop was previously called the Foresters Arms - and a very vile pub it was too :)) Unless you like the kind of place where you squelch over the squirly carpet and can smell the gents from wherever you're sitting :))
  19. StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >> > Is it worse than scaffolding? > > I doubt it's a permanent fixture xxxxxxx Surely they wouldn't need planning permission if it was temporary. I guess they will make money out of it by renting the site. And yes, much much worse than scaffolding imo. It's illuminated, ffs (6) Will loom over Lordship Lane like a big looming thing.
  20. Pia has started a thread in the Trades section of the forum
  21. The person who runs Jeannie Avent in North Cross Road (corner of Lacon Road) may have their contact details, as I think the Skip Sisters rented it for a while around Christmas a while ago.
  22. They could be crab apples - some varieties are small and bright red. Do they look like this? BTW I had to throw all my hazelnuts away - none of them appeared to actually have any nuts inside :-S

I don't want a brown wheelie bin sitting outside all year in my tiny front garden just for the few weeks when I actually fill it. The fold-up bags plus smaller brown food waste box are much more convenient.
