Thanks very much! I appreciate your taking the time to write all that! It's going to take me a while to get my head around it though 😂 I've still got Windows 10, and my laptop is too old to upgrade, but hopefully the steps you suggest shouldn't be too different.

I just googled. In case anybody else needs to know, it is open from 10-4 on Wednesdays (as ctovey says, for donations only). -

Hmmm, my daughter did that, the battery they put in her phone lasted about a week. She doesn't live in London and had gone home by that time, so couldn't take it back and complain. There are loads of phone shops in Rye Lane. Hopefully she was just unlucky.

I did Google first, obviously! Nothing nearby came up for light bulbs, just the Old Kent Road council recycling place, and various places like large Currys stores, none of which are very near here! Where is the one at Denmark Hill station? I've never noticed any kind of recycling bin there. Is it just for electrical items, or does it take light bulbs as well?

It has apparently already been sorted

You joined the forum in 2013, but this is the only post you have ever made. Do you have some connection with the salon? It reads like a rather over the top advert. Apologies if not, but we have seen similar posts on here before ....

I am also looking for somewhere nearby where I can recycle a light bulb.

Sat afternoon Lordship Lane.. Police incident.
Sue replied to I hammer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It must have been blocked off for a time? I was on a bus coming down towards that end of LL, and the driver was getting messages that he would probably have to divert (but he didn't know why, or where to) but then he was told that he wouldn't have to after all. I think that must have been some time around 5pm? -
Laundrette/Laundry Service Recommendations
Sue replied to kmitchell's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes, that's the dry cleaner I was thinking of. Though I believe they used to take them to the launderette in Lordship Lane on the same side as them, towards what is now the Picture House. That closed down a long time ago, so possibly after that they used the one at the end of Pellatt Road. They used to have piles of duvets in their window for all to see (the dry cleaners, not the launderette!) All gentrified now 😂 -
This has all been sorted. The council has apologised and has said that the contractor used the wrong materials and will put it right. It is only on one part of the green It actually says in the article that it is being redone, but in a throwaway sentence, because if you are a paper, why waste a good story you have already prepared, with lots of photos to whip up further outrage? Parts of pavements all over East Dulwich are being replaced with unsightly tarmac, including around and right up to trees. This has been going on for some time. I hadn't really noticed until a large patch was laid right outside my house and almost right up to a tree, replacing paving stones which had only quite recently been laid. Has anyone complained about that? I am about to. I'm wondering if it is the same contractors, but also why it has been done, because again, non permeable material has been used.

I don't know where to post this. Can anyone help with what I presume is a software issue? There seems to have been some recent Microsoft update. I have had issues for some time because since my hard drive was replaced I have had two users on my laptop instead of one. Long story. I only need one. Also. My files are backed up by Carbonite, therefore I don't need OneDrive. Someone was supposed to have removed OneDrive, but this hasn't happened and stuff is being saved to OneDrive by default. Each time I "save as" it goes to OneDrive and I have to manually change it which is a real pain. Now, as of this morning, I started my laptop to find a message from Microsoft asking me to set something up. Which I said "later" to. Now when I save a file I can't necessarily find it again, because they seem to be going all over the place. 😭 I am scared to try to sort this out myself in case I make things worse. I am going to see if Carbonite can help, but meantime does anybody know what might be going on? All I want is for all my files to be saved in the same place, where I can find them 😭

I have fond memories of getting bacon rolls and coffee there at (what seemed like) crack of dawn for us and the crew building the stage for the live music on Goose Green for Dulwich Festival Fair. Didn't use it much otherwise, but will be sorry to see it go, as it was sort of comforting to know it was there ❤️. A relic of the "old" East Dulwich. Does anybody apart from me remember the Dream Machine which used to be underneath it? I loved that place so much! It was like being a student again!

Now that you can get kettles which boil water in about a zillionth of a second (I exaggerate slightly) I can't see the point, unless You are very impatient You don't have space for a kettle You have more money than you know what to do with You can go without boiling water every time it goes wrong, because you no longer have a kettle You see it as a status symbol You don't care about the environment or about saving energy You don't need the space under your sink for anything else I'm sure there must be more reasons to have one. I briefly considered it when I got my new kitchen, but I didn't consider it for long 😂

KOKUM Indian restaurant & bar
Sue replied to Simeron Lily Patel's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes it's expensive, and so is the alcohol! Mostly wine, and cocktails such as an overpoweringly cardamom flavoured negroni. If you prefer lager, very small glasses of it. They are clearly not trying to attract the vindaloo and six pints Saturday night crowd, if those people still exist 🤣 -
I'd have thought frozen food wouldn't be accepted anywhere, because you couldn't tell if it had been thawed (and if so for how long) and then refrozen. For some things this probably wouldn't matter, except for possible loss of quality (?) but for other things it could be a health hazard.
