I had a local person who regularly dumped rubbish on the corner of my street. Each time I opened the bag and had a look for a name and address of something included in the rubbish. The fourth or fifth time I found a name of a guy round the corner. I went round with his rubbish, banged on his door and told him to stop dumping rubbish in my street. Weirdly, he had an immaculate green bin - totally spotless inside. It hasn't happened since. Charlie

Planning regulations say that any development within five meters of a boundary require planning permission. Therefore it doesn't matter about the 3m building under PD as you will need to get permission. I'm not referring to height or distance from walls. It sounds like the OP is building up to the boundary with the neighbour's property, so planning permission will be required. Charlie

"1. development where the development is within 5m of a boundary of the curtilage of the premises" Means because you are building within 5 metres of the boundary then you will need planning permission, so you do not meet the criteria for permitted development. Assuming that you are building up to the border with your neighbour of course. Charlie

You'll need to get planning permission as you will be extending your property up to the boundary. As you will need an architect to do the plans you can submit these plans as part of the planning application. Charlie

First steps montessori nursery on Upland road by Goodrich School is fantastic although as you say the waitlists are exceptionally long but go and have a look. Our 2.5 year old son has been there since September and thrived. And they have a great back garden with a huge enclosed trampoline. Can never get him to come home

I am thinking of starting a small short story writing group. The idea is that budding short story authors get together monthly to encourage and critique each others short stories. The aim is to encourage those of us (like me) that are keen to write but need a nudge to get started, and to provide a friendly group to provide feedback and support. I think I would try to keep the group to around five and aim to meet in each other's houses for a few hours in the evening once a month. Ate there last night. Great restaurant with a nice vibe and great atmosphere - loads of locals, service good, drinks cold etc. Food was OK but the pizzas we had weren't as good as Pizza Express, arancini were stodgy and rock hard on the outside - not as good as the ones that Pizza Express used to do. Bruschetta was served on some seriously weighty bread and was OK. All in all we liked it but the food was a bit short of the quality that we expected. The more serious mains look like a good option and it's nice that you can get a wide variety of food there. Charlie

It's perfectly normal for trendy bars to refuse entry to the wrong type of punter. That's why you have door staff. It's hardly fascist behaviour. And yes Sue, they should only let in young trendy good looking people. Charlie
