Dulwich Hamlet FC to close down?

Bit difficult: Champion Hill's long-term future is strengthened Dulwich Hamlet's Champion Hill Stadium has become the first football ground in London to be listed as an "asset of community value." The listing follows an application made in August by the Dulwich Hamlet Supporters Trust, with help from South London football bloggers "Tales from the Pigeon Stands." The listing lasts for five years and means any owner of the property has to apply to the council before they can sell the freehold or a lease longer than 25 years. Community groups then have six weeks to decide whether they would like to express an interest in bidding for the property. If they do, the owner is not able to sell for six months, although they don't have to sell to the community group. Until spring 2012, the freehold for the stadium was owned by DHPD Ltd, which had borrowed ?1.2m to buy it from Kings College. It then went into adminstration, believed to be owing far more than the original sum borrowed. As well as being home to Dulwich Hamlet for almost a century, Champion Hill has also been used by Fisher Athletic, Millwall Lionesses and London FA representative sides. In the 1930s, the original stadium attracted crowds of more than 20,000. The continuing uncertainty and specualtion about the stadium that the admininstration caused threw a spotlight on the need to ensure that Dulwich supporters were given maximum opportunity to influence the future. Dulwich is not alone in taking this action. Manchester United's Old Trafford and Oxford United's Kassam Stadium have already been confirmed as assets of community value and there are at least 15 more nominations in process. Dulwich Hamlet Supporters Trust chairman Eddie Muraszko said the group was delighted that the council had agreed to the listing. "These powers are designed to give the community greater chance to secure the futre of community assets like this stadium," he said. "While it is only limited protection, we are pleased to have the added safeguard it does provide." Many football teams-especially non-league clubs in London-have lost their stadiums over the last 20 years after owners sold up. "Our aim is to make sure that Dulwich Hamlet Football Club is not added to this list and to ensure that, on top of the success the club is having on the field, it has a sustainable future in it's long-term home," Muraszko added. Tom Hall of Supporters Direct-the national umbrella body for supporters trusts-also welcomed the decision. "The facility, despite significant uncertainly as to its future for a number of years, has continued to provide value to its communities and the clubs that use the stadium," he said. "Wehope it is the first step in securing its future and potentially under community ownership. We congratulate Dulwich Hamlet Supporters Trust on this achievement." -

There are NO legal embellishments on private property ie not on her majesties highway. They can put a "fine" ticket on your car but there is zero legal recourse apart from civil court for trespass-not going to happen !

I love the way everyone has overlooked Renata's suggestion to "walk" ! A four letter word ? FYI, very rarely does anyone in the acting profession drive themselves to set. -
I was in there today from 3pm until 8pm as a volunteer for Dulwich festivals "Here they Come" exhibition (History of famous Dulwich residents past and present in the form of locally made Scarecrows: sub note a fascinating guided iPod tour is available free of charge !! I'm there 9am til 230pm Thursday !! ) Anyway, post school it was like a (4pm onwards) f#cking youth club. No disrespect to the staff, they did their absolute best to keep calm and in control but they couldn't. As simply there as a volunteer I wasn't allowed to get involved, boy did I want to, the disrespect shown to to a library let alone adults was fist clenching. Not wanting/wishing to make this an issue/item but they were all black early teens in school uniform. Police were called in the end. So as much as the doings have been much more nicer there is talk of security being needed

Well I applaud Laura. Why should a "family" that have never worked, lived on benefits and are none educated "get paid for sprogging" ? She's a trained Barrister so her or her family has spent ?1,000s to get her through UNI/the Bar. Ok, she has chosen to bring up her children, doesn't fucking happen with dolies. Push them out, claim, ask for bigger council house and that cycle will go on. Laura will be able to return back to the Bar(no cheap quips) when children of age but if they only have ?60,000 coming in that will be tight in ED, 2 Adults, 2 kids. Why shouldn't they get tax breaks? At least VAT on power/heating-something I'd advocate for ALL with children under 12

Uefa has charged Sir Alex Ferguson for failing to attend the press conference after Manchester United were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid at Old Trafford. Nani also faces proceedings due to the red card he received during the last-16 second leg. Rio Ferdinand is still waiting to hear if he has any possible sanctions to answer for his sarcastic applause of the referee Cuneyt Cakir at the end of the match. A statement from Uefa said: "Uefa has opened disciplinary proceedings against Manchester United FC for [the] red card of player No17 Nani [and] post-match media obligations not fulfilled [under] III 2.6 and 2.7 of the competition regulations. The case will be dealt with by the Uefa Control and Disciplinary Body on Thursday 21 March." Uefa rules state all managers must attend post-match press conferences. While Ferguson speaks to television after domestic league and cup games, the Scot refuses to be present at briefings with the print media.
