  1. I dropped a set of keys today somewhere in Grove Park. Did anyone pick them up? Please? Hoping some kind soul will see this ... The keys are on a wooden key ring with a name on it. And a loopy plastic key ring thingy too. I would be so grateful for their safe return. Thank you.
  2. Tom is brilliant. He worked all day Saturday installing new sockets all over the house and I hardly knew he was there. Quick, clean, polite, efficient. Thanks Tom, if you're reading this! Another great find on the EDF.
  3. Stephen Tozer is a brilliant carpet fitter and a really nice chap. Stephen fitted carpets in our sitting room, three bedrooms, hall, stairs and landing recently and I can't recommend him highly enough. He was so helpful; guiding us through numerous samples when we couldn't make our minds up, and remained charming and patient throughout! We are so pleased with the quality of his work, he's quick, tidy, courteous and a pleasure to do business with. I'm so glad we found him here on the EDF.
  4. Grumpydad .... your post makes me wonder why you bought a house overlooking a school?? Surely noise from children / sport was a given?
  5. Please - anyone? Can anyone tell me if it's open today (wednesday) before I set off with five kids and a heavy picnic bag ..... ?
  6. Personally I don't think drug takers will be (a) able (b) arsed to find the tunnels, crawl inside them, then shoot up. But then neither do I think there are 'dubious people' lying in wait for my children in the tunnels ..... Playgrounds in East Dulwich tend to be full of kids. And parents. And quite nice ones at that. Or am I being terribly blind / naive?
  7. Remember to take your own watch and/or clock if you're going near the library
  8. Er, did I mean navel ..? or navel ..
  9. SO after considering all the replies (I thank yew) and checking on-line 'best teas in sarf london' dot com .. i'm afraid too many were out of our price range (you classy lot) plus I had three under tens in tow, so we went to the Mudchute Kitchen on the Isle of Dogs. If you don't already know - you go to Greenwich, through the foot tunnel, through the park, up the slippery slope, cross the stables and all the way there .. and it was shut!! Crapping Crap. Bitter disappointment, so we ended up at the Old Brewery in the Navel Museum in Greenwich. Lovely place, lovely muffins, lovely beer, but not quite what I wanted. Ah well, better laid plans next year. Or maybe a Hummingbird Bakery will open in the old launderette site by the Plough, off the Lane, near the Icleand, etc etc .. Happy Christmas one and all x
  10. So if it was your birthday tomorrow and you wanted to go somewhere and eat Cake, where would you go?
  11. I recently saw a flyer for exactly that sort of thing. Someone is proposing to turn the old gala bingo place off Camberwell Green into a community arts place .. more info here: http://camberwellcommunitycinema.webs.com/
  12. It's going to be a Soft Claws franchise. Personal care and grooming for pets, it'll have a claw art salon for applying Soft Claws coloured claw protectors. They're huge in north London
  13. Our crappy Ford has been broken into twice in four weeks in Grove Park. No sign of entry but the glove box and other compartments open, stuff all over the place. And same has happened to neighbours - again no sign of break in. What's going on?
  14. What a dignified and eloquent post following a shocking event. I hope you're feeling slightly better now, having vented (very politely) and can rest and recover tonight. Best wishes for safe journeys in the future. Pale green car - shame on you
