  1. Thanks Ultra. Just curious. I went to a newly reopened restaurant in ED yesterday which serves food of a particular nation and was shocked to find that the "authentic" ingredients used were more reminiscent of a Sunday Roast at the C&G. Perhaps that's how they keep costs down for the less poncey EDers like me!
  2. Are there any local/indie shops locals would recommend to steer clear of?
  3. That's the explanation I got when I asked why the No.40 was late
  4. James remind me what the assumption was again? For the record I spent over 20 years in the ad biz working from the despatch dept upwards so I have much experience with middle-class creative types (are you?) but being essentially from a working class background probably empathise more with bus drivers, though not the particular one in question. I don't think I've ever bought clothes in East Dulwich, though I did see a TU T-shirt that caught my eye in Sainsburys the other day. Being a creative and driving a bus have more in common than you'd think at first: Both spend the day going round in circles Both get crapped on by clients on a regular basis Both stop and start all day long One dreams of Cannes the other dreams of a can or two at the end of the day.
  5. Fair point Sean however try getting a nice cushy bus ride in most of the developing world and compare their horrific safety record with ours. I've witnessed some tragic public transport accidents that make me appreciate our system despite some of its flaws.
  6. Do you mean the 12yr old girl hand stitching the sole on the cool trainers your Creative Director bought?
  7. A lot of insurers won't insure in SE22 because it is a known subsidence area. Others will insure for silly amounts using subsidence as the excuse. Last year when searching for a good deal I came across ING's online insurance page. To my pleasant surprise the premium came to about half of what I was paying for a previous smaller property. I punched in the figures again. Same result. Just to make sure I called them and they quoted me a higher premium. I explained the on-line quote and they suggested I use that. I have. Let's see what happens with the renewal.
  8. there aren't any house facades fronting onto the road?
  9. I've visited someone there once. I think the address was Cyrena but the entrance was around the corner.
  10. The DV end of LL seems to be notorious for petty car crime. I used to keep parking change in the car but after 3 break-ins (2 different cars) I've given up. Police never turned up, only issued a crime No. for Insurance. Recently there was a spate of attacks where somebody went round smashing car windows throughout The Village, mostly 4X4's and even a bus. Not sure if he/she/them were ever caught. I disagree with fitting an alarm since most people ignore alarms and they certainly didn't deter the crims in my case. Unfortunately all you can do is empty the car of anything nickable. These crimes are perpetrated by a small minority and they'll soon get the message. PS spadetownboy I'm also proud to be lowering the tone 'round 'ere, y'naw mean!
  11. There is a Vegan Thai in Dulwich. Well almost, Dulwich Hill Australia! BTW SMBS great shop, what ED is all about.
  12. It's a disgrace that a parking fine was issued just for parking in a disabled bay. Car should have been towed and crushed!
  13. The flat market is certainly starting to look iffy. I know a couple of buy to letter's in the area having problems with disposal.Track falling property prices
