  1. It's a loss to the lady who runs it, who put her time and effort in it, and those who do like to shop there! Some people who visit there, have a routine around it e.g coming to get the weekly news from their local area or getting yummy fresh baked bread! :( :(
  2. I got it too and completed it. The only good thing is that you were able to say the doctors were good but the practice itself isn't. Do they really have 12,000 patients, or was that a typo?
  3. Oh that is sad news, was thinking earlier that I'd be able to pop in tomorrow as off work. Will definitely go in now :(
  4. Hi Margot, I had warfarin prescribed for 6 months after finding a DVT. I was looked after in Kings and the treatment was exemplary. I ended up having blood tests about three times a week minimum, as my INR was difficult to manage (I had other conditions that needed managing, one in particular affected how I interacted with Warfarin). The main point was to not to vary lifestyle whilst on it, even to have an alcoholic drink meant I had to ring in to let the clinic know (it would throw my INR out), but I only did that once over the time. Diet can have an influence so certain foods were to be avoided. I did have a couple of occasions regarding bleeding, but again because of another condition, I was able to handle that myself - I wouldn't advise that for other people, my case was different. All in all, the treatment at Kings was superb and I felt that they took the whole thing really seriously, which overwhelmed me at the time as I didn't have a clue about this new ailment or treatment. I would say, which medics deny, that I felt Warfarin affected the way I thought and my memory - it was a muggy time for me, but that could be to do blood levels. I hope this helps and that your father in law won't have to be on it for two long.
  5. I received an email on the 10th about this, unfortunately had interview so couldnt attend. But the email addres that it came from is "[email protected]", if anyone wants to ask to go on the mailing list!! Hello, Are you a member of our PPG (Patient Participation Group)? You are welcome to join our PPG and attend our meetings, where we will update you with changes going on in the practice, changes in National Health Service, changes that effect you and the practice. 6. These were probably the same guys on Underhill Road on Friday or Saturday, I can't remember. They were doing wheelies and making aggressive noise with their engines. They moved further up Underhill Road after a short while (or a street off it, I couldn't see), but I could still hear them. I'd definitely not be able to approach them - I'd be had for dinner! Same ol' thing, its crap you can't even walk down your street without feeling intimidated. The other week some kids followed me for a cigarette off the bus, I could sense them approaching me from behind, so I turned around to face them (not in a brave fashion I must add). Its just so intimidating, no mind ill mannered.
  7. Mr Ben - would you mind telling me which private GP you go to? Last year I paid for a private medical as I wasn't getting the right checks I wanted at local GPs. If there was a private GP I could go to, that would be excellent, and ?60 is far cheaper than the circa ?300 I piad for the full medical. I know whats wrong me, if that makes sense :) Can they do prescriptions? Another issue at the moment for me :(
  8. Sorry, am confused :) Did you take the payout and pre written reference from your previous employer, or did you not? I've taken redundancy and agreed reference, but my previous employer will provide a complete reference requests if required from future employers - references don't tend to give any information these days except dates of employment, job title etc., just basic information.

    BAFTAs

I thought it was funny that some of Stephen Frys humour was lost on some of the audience. Tom Hanks was positively confused at least twice.
  10. Thank you all for this :) I can definitely donate blankets etc., and can definitely look into offering a temporary roof over some little pets head(s) if it was needed!! Ill contact the charities!! ClareC that's so sad, it's great that you were in a position to help though. Have you got any animals yet? Let us know how they are, it would be nice to hear.
  11. I would also like to add my recommendation for Richard :) I found his details on here via all the recommendations on the forum. He was great, punctual, tidy, helpful, reasonably priced, excellent work and I was able to leave my keys with him :) So pleased with what he did, and would whole heartedly recommend him.
  12. I'm just wondering does anyone know anything about pets during the floods? I know there was something on Sky but I can't find the article - I've been googling, but can't find much really (the phone is rubbish to google on). Just wondering do people need temporary homes for their pets? I don't know how I could really help because i don't have a pet at the moment, as I may not be here enough for it with work etc.. Although I do occasionally babysit cats for friends/neighbours, so maybe I could do that! I'm sure it's a concern that those affected about the floods have.
  13. Always had fantastic care in Kings and if the waiting times are up and/or people are going there because they shouldn't (e.g. not been able to get an appt at their GP), then the statistics is not representative! Like Louisa said too, they do support a high density population also, so really they do a great job, and can only prioritize as best they can with the resources they have. I hope they get the support they need!
  14. Hi Sem, do you have availability this weekend for some treatments? This evening would be fabulous, but it may be a bit short notice for you? Thank you :)
  15. Who's the market research for?
  16. I don't know anything except there was a notice about an accident at the start of the 40 bus route at Aldgate, to say diversions etc! I really hope anyone involved is okay.
  17. What about an Irish contingency?? Think this is a great idea by Becks!
  18. I suppose actually it doesn't matter if it is day or night, I just reminded myself, that twice, both during rush hour in the morning I've been what people would call, sexually attacked. Once on my way to West Dulwich station when I lived there at the time. The second time (which I put a thread about at the time to warn people) was when I moved here, on my way to work again. (Please don't think I was dressed proactively or anything, both times I was going to work in town etc.). I wasn't writing the above to detract from what happened to little h's husband, but more to say it can be day or night - and actually highlight that these people have no shame, they'll do it even if there is a chance they may be seen. So vigilance is key, but still think it's crap that we can't even pop out for a pint of milk without having to be concerned about what may happen.
  19. Louisa - I rarely go out at night now either! I'm constantly suspicious of people when I'm walking home from bus after work in evenings. And I'm certain that I'm not been fair on innocent people, which really is crappy.
  20. It is indeed a complete farce if there is no repercussions for the person who carried out any wrong doing on another. When the damage is beyond the physical, it may be never rectified, and this is completely wrong. I hate intensely that people cannot walk around without having to be aware of their surroundings, who's walking behind them or towards them, or who might be around the next corner. Why should anyone invade the space of another in any capacity and be allowed to get away with it? Why do those who do it, feel that it is their right to do so? If they had any heart, they'd consider their actions - but as they commit the crimes, they don't care about anyone but themselves. I will never understand it, and I totally agree with KidKruger - I don't care what background anyone comes from, the bottom line is, no-one has any right to invade anyone elses space. I just hope that you find that there is justice in this case, and Dulwich Fox, I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you - its simply not nice at all.
  21. Im really sorry to hear this, it must have been dreadful beyond describing. I hope those people are caught and thanks for letting us know. People can be so horrible, it makes me feel sick to the core....
  22. Did he complete a P46? This would help solve this also.
  23. I'd suggest that he rings the HMRC and ask to receive a tax code. Assuming this is his only employment since 6th April, he can be put on a cumulative basis. When this is applied to his payroll, assuming his earnings are below the threshold, he won't pay any tax between now and the end of the tax year. If the HMRC put him on a month 1 basis or leave him on BR, he will need to complete a return. With RTI, the HMRC should pick up that his tax code needs to be amended, but I'd still advise ringing them. In the mean time, just to super organised for now/future, he can look to register on the Government Gateway, so he can do a tax return if needed. I'd suggest doing it now, because the HMRC will need to generate an Unique Tax Reference number for him, if he doesn't hold one already. When he rings the HMRC, they might ask him for his NI number and his employers tax reference number. I hope this helps.
  24. Only caught the end if this thread, need to read more of it. But just thought I'd say to be aware that when you do a PET (the 7 year thing for IHT purposes), that if it is a home, the person who transfers the property, and if they remain living in it, will have a reservation of benefit. Therefore subject to tax based on what would have been gained if the property was rented out for instance. Sorry, if it's written badly, my eyes are shutting with tiredness :) But that's it on a high level.
  25. I'm sorry to hear you got locked out of your house, but why would anyone want to do it? I don't get it - is it a prank or am I missing something about how your home could be burgled (sorry if I sound thick)!
