  1. Hi mothercourage, I also saw this posting and enquired how long the seminar goes for. Apparently 1.5-2 hrs with Q&A, but apparently it depends on the group and can go longer of there are a lot of questions. I'm definitely interested. I'm wondering whether the room behind the Gardens cafe opposite Peckham Rye might be an option, but I think they close at 5 or 6 at night, so may only be able to do it during the day which may not suit, dependent on who is interested. Would be great to get a group together. N
  2. Alex, I think you are actually the first Winter Babies Club mum-to-be!!! N
  3. Congrats Sal on adding another baby girl to the list - there certainly seems to be more boys than girls at the mo. We haven't found out the sex of ours, but are convinced it's a boy, even more so given I can feel him kick on opposite sides of my stomach! With a husband who is 6'2", it has to be a boy right!!! Thanks Hannah for coming to the play last night, it was great to see you there and glad you enjoyed it. If anyone is at a loose end and fancies supporting some local theatre, would love to see you. Very much looking forward to seeing some of you in Nov when I can start coming to the get togethers again. Jard to believe that mothercourage will only be 4 weeks away from delivering the first Winter babies club baby by then - scary stuff. See you all soon Nicky x
  4. Sorry folks, I put the incorrect dates on my previous post, they are Monday 14th and 21st Nov!!!! I'm putting it down to baby brain!
  5. HI all, Hannah, I will definately be up for coffee during the week as I also will not be working (paid anyway!) from now until Sprout's born, so keep me posted! BB, congrats on the baby boy, that's great news! A couple of things I wanted to let everyone know about: RE: Dad's get together, my other half will probably arrange something for sometime in November as he is flat out for the rest of the month. Also, I have signed up to do hypnobirthing with Kristin Hayward (http://www.kristinhayward.com), as she will now be running a course on the evenings of Mon 17th and 24th of November. There is another 1 or 2 spots available, so if anyone is interested, I am happy to pass on any info I have gained about her, but otherwise she is best contacted by leaving a voice mail or alternatively email. Hope everyone's coping OK with added bump weight - I know I am starting to feel it a bit! Cheers cherubs Nicky xx
  6. Good evening ladies, I'm really sad to say that I am now not going to be able to make tomorrow night, and won't be free any Tues or Thurs night from now until the 3rd Nov :-( I'm really disappointed... Hope you all have a fab night at the Gowlett tomorrow night, and for the rest of the meet ups. I will be aiming to come to the Actress on Thurs 03rd, so hopefully I will see some of you there. In the meantime, congrats to all the recent scans, and good luck to all those upcoming. See you all soon Nicky xx
  7. HI all, Have a great time tonight. As I think I've mentioned before, I will be unable to do Thursday nights between now and the end of the month as I am involved in the Dulwich Players production of 'Nuts' which is rehearsing every Thursday from now until production on 19th Oct (Yes, that is an unashamed plug - check out www.dulwichplayers.org for more info). I will, however, be planning to go to the Gowlett every second Tuesday until Nov, so those who can't make it to the Actress tonight, hopefully I'll see you at the Gowlett next Tuesday. It's great to meet so many Dulwich Mums, and not feel so much of a freakazoid when I have silly questions! ANd Hannah, yes the pizza is delicious! Cheers cherubs Nicky xx
  8. HI all, Was super to see you all on Tuesday night, and it's great that there are so many of us!!! Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to make any Thursdays until the end of October, so it will only be Tuesdays for me for a little while! Have spoken to the hubby about a boy's meet up, so he will probably post something on here for the boys in the next few weeks! Nicky xx
  9. Hi all, I agree with a more regular catch up. How about the Actress as an additional option to the Gowlett, they also do pizzas as well as other menu items (salads, pub grub etc) and have quite a bit more room than Green and Blue? Also, I know my other half would be interested in meeting up with some Dads in the area. THe Autumn babies club started a Dad's meet up which seems to be have been quite successful. Would anyone else's other halves be interested in this? N
  10. Hi all, Sounds as tho we will have quite a gang next week, and I'm so pleased that my prior engagement has been postponed so I can now come as well - hurrah! Am also thrilled as I had my 22 week scan this morning and all looks well, in fact the sonographer (who was fabulous) said, 'you're far too normal for us, so we won't need to see you until 32 weeks'! Very reassuring indeed! And the staff at Kings were wonderful as usual. Was also lucky enough to get a shot in 4D which was a trip to say the least. The button nose I ordered was definately there! Hope all goes well for those of you with scans coming up and I look forward to seeing you all next week. Nic
  11. Hi again all, Mr BB - nice to see your voice!! My other half and I were talking about how great it would be for the Partners if the Winter Babies mums-to-be to have a meeting all their own. I know the Autumn Babies Club have done this and it has been a great success - funnily enough, the partners to be are meeting up more than the Mums, over a few pints for medicinal purposes if course!!! What do you think? Thanks for the tips MissMack and BB. Mooncake, would definately be interested in a hypnobirthing course!! N xx
  12. Hi MissMack, Great tip on the slings! I don't suppose you remember where the sling meeting is held or where I can find out about it? N
  13. Lovely to meet you all ladies! MissMack, am still giggling about you stretch marks in untold places story - God Forbid!!! Think I'm be able to make the 27th at this stage, and agree with Pickle that I am guilty of hardly talking to anyone down the other end of the table. Will rectify that next time!! Hope all the bumps stay well xx
  14. Hi all, Looking forward to seeing you all on Thurs. Are you signed up to the course starting on Nov 2? Also, will have a look at your thread on hypnobirthing mooncake as I am also very interested. A friend has given me a CD but no books, so I will also be looking for a good course, so will be interested to hear how everyone gets on N
  15. Thanks MissM - I think we should now run a book on what percentage of these dates will be accurate ;-)
  16. Hi espelli, I had the same thing with my due dates. I knew exactly the date of my LMP, and based on that, my due date was 27th Jan. Upon having my 12 week scan, they adjusted the due date to 23rd Jan based on the baby's growth etc. I spoke to my midwife about this this morning, and she advised that either date could be correct and that King's should not really be moving due dates if it is less than a week out, given all women ovulate at different times and can therefore conceive at different times (most LMP dates are based on average ovulation of day 14 apparently). I found it really frustrating, but the midwife said that the hospital and them (the midwives) will go off the revised due date for clarity. Closer to delivery, however, they may adjust again as they have a clearer idea of the baby's growth etc and will take the original date into consideration if the question of induction comes up if I go over term. If it helps, only about 4% of women give birth on their due date anyway apparently!!! N
  17. Hi all, After initially thinking I wasn't going to be able to make it on the 25th, I now can, which I am thrilled about! It certainly looks as though we are gathering quite a little gang! Happy to report that I had my second midwives appt this morning, and they were able to hear Sprout's heart beat loud and clear with the doppler (I am just over 17 weeks gone), which I must say is just that little more reassuring every time I hear it! The whoosh of the cord blood whipping around is also a reassuring sound. I, like many of you, have had the stretching ligament pains on and off, and find it more painful if I cough, sneeze or laugh when lying on my back, but it's to be expected I guess. I have also had the weirdest thing going on with my 'bump'. For the last 3-5 weeks, I have started the day with a fairly flattish stomach and by the end of the day I look about 6 months pregnant -it has been a little disconcerting as I didn't know how much was bloating, bump or the dreaded constipation (that never seems to be mentioned, but as I have found it, is a VERY real part of this!). Over the last few days however, I have woken up with a bump and kept it all day, although it does grow a little more by the evening, I don't look as big as I did, and am now very proud of Sprout's pouch!! The midwife checked my 'fundal' length (oh the new words we've learned!),and apparently rule of thumb is 1cm/week of pregnancy (give or take 3cm apparently) and I was right on 17cm, so normal is just fine by me! Congratulations to everyone who has had their scans etc, it certainly makes it feel real. Very much looking forward to meeting you all on the 25th. N
  18. Welcome to the group Melanie! I have to say I am glad that there is finally someone due before me! Congrats and I'm sure we are soon all going to be those groups of mums and bubs next Winter!!!
  19. Hi Ladies, Well, it appears I am the only January mum-to-be, everyone seems to be having babies in February! I don't think I am going to be able to make it on the 25th which is such a shame, because I would have loved to have met you all, however would definately be up for another meet up at some point after that. Tomo, I've just signed up for the ante-natal classes with Sofie Jacobs www.sofiejacobs.com A friend of mine had her baby in April and attended Sofie's classes (upstairs at the Mag). She is about the same price or not much more than the NCT classes I believe. I decided to go with her, as after some research, I liked her more 'rounded' approach to things, ie not just a focus on one specific option for things, but a seemingly more balanced view on a number of options available. Additionally, I liked that she spends time covering what the hell happens once the baby is home!! If you sign up for one of her courses, she is also available for email and phone call support and operates a Friday afternoon drop-in session for her clients, which my girlfriend has found invaluable. Hope this info helps. N
  20. Building on fire opposite Netto and next to Greggs bakery on Rye Lane by the looks of the footage on BBC News
  21. Congratulations Elli, Maybe we could all meet up at some point. N
  22. Thanks for the advice ladies. Any other recommendations also welcome
  23. Hi all, I have just started my second trimester of pregnancy, so can now happily start exploring more exciting exercise options than sitting on my sofa rating my nausea out of 10!!! Can anyone recommend a good pregnancy pilates or yoga class in ED. We are very fortunate to have loads of options available to us here, but was hoping for some firsthand recommendations. I would also like to know of any other pregnancy safe exercise classes that anyone can recommend. Thanks everyone
