  1. Hi all. This is slightly off topic, so Admin, please move this thread if need be. I just want to ask if any mums can recommend a clinic for thread vein removal. I've had two babies and I've got lots of thread veins all over my legs. The treatment I'm after is microsclerotherapy rather than laser. Anyone have any experience of this?? Thanks
  2. Hi. I've used Brad and his team from All Round Renovations. Great at what they do, honest and lovely to have around. Only problem is they're probably booked up, but it's worth giving brad a call, you might be lucky. There are others with recommendations on here, as you've seen, but it's tricky to get any of them at short notice. Good luck! Brad Round: 07980 662456 (Google: "all round renovations" - they have a website)
  3. I bought the Philips Avent in 2012 and it's excellent. Works perfectly in our old terraced house and maintains signal over long distances. Not a video monitor but great reception.
  4. Shanie from the mani pedi wax club will go to your place and wax you in the comfort of your own home! I think she works til quite late most days. Her number is 07890 681445
  5. Jims number is 07901 834901
  6. Hi there. Re the commute, I think it's fine. I'm lucky to live near the station, and as a PP said, since part of ED is a fair old walk away, you should take that into account if short commuting time is a priority. It takes me 30 mins to get to Westminster (train to London Bridge, then tube for 3 stops). Canary Wharf would be slightly more going from ED as opposed to Peckham Rye, which has more connections. Trains from ED aren't that busy until you get close to 8am. I always get the 07:30 or 07:40 and there are lots of seats to be had. Coming back around 5pm is also totally fine. We don't have train problems too often, but when we do there are other nearby stations like Denmark Hill, Forest Hill etc. so you're never totally scuppered. We've lived here for 3 yrs or so (we have 2 small children) and we love it here. I'm sure it'd be easy to make friends through this forum and by going to the various kids activities that take place weekly. There's quite a lot going on most of the time.
  7. Jim Cox. You'll find him if you search the forum, but PM me for his number if you don't find it. He is good and very reasonably priced, and friendly too.
  8. Shanie (mani pedi wax club) came round yesterday and gave me a great bikini and eyebrow wax while my 4-yr old skulked around asking questions. I was impressed with the results. My skin didn't even have the redness I usually get after a wax. Brilliant service in the comfort of home, and reasonably priced. Shanie obviously knows her stuff. I'll definitely be booking her for another treatment. Her number is 07890 681445.
  9. Can I have a price list too please?!
  10. Brilliant, thanks all for your recommendations.
  11. Hi all. I found a couple of old threads on football for younger kids, but many posts referred to indoor sessions, or sessions which were running a couple of years ago... Does anyone know of any Saturday or Sunday morning football sessions for children aged around 4? My son is desperate to "play real football"... Thanks everyone.
  12. Hither Green oven clean. I can't remember the man's name but he was really nice and did a great job. The oven looked practically new. I think the website is just www.hithergreenovenclean.co.uk. But if not, just google it and it'll come up. I got the recommendation from the ED forum originally.
  13. Please do more. You're hilarious.
  14. I saw the lady on Northcross Rd at the weekend. There's a problem with the power supply which she's hoping will get fixed this week, and then she can come back.
  15. I called Steve on the basis of this thread. He came round the next evening to quote and did the job the next day, fitting it in around other work. The job he did for me was small and I think many others might have turned it down. Steve was polite, honest and did a good job. Very easy to deal with. I'd use him again.
  16. Hi all. Just want to add a recommendation for Niko. I called him today (Saturday) and he came straight round to fix a leaky radiator. He was friendly and knowledgable and solved the problem quickly, for a reasonable price. Will definitely use him again.
  17. Hi all. Can anyone recommend a dentist who's good with children? My 3.5 yr old needs his first dentist's appointment. Don't mind paying for private dentist... Any advice much appreciated.
  18. It would I suppose. I'd support a 20mph limit on top of making it one-way. I think speed restriction would only become relevant on Melbourne if the traffic were flowing freely. In the current circumstances, whilst I wouldn't oppose a speed restriction (mainly because 20mph is reasonable for any residential street like Melbourne), I think it'd make very little difference.
  19. Speed isn't a big issue on Melbourne in my opinion. I agree with what other posters have said: cars can't pick up much speed because they're always having to stop to let oncoming traffic through. which brings me to the more serious issue on Melbourne: the fact that it's a two-way street. With cars parked all the way along, on both sides, two-way traffic is a nightmare. Almost always pretty busy, being the rat run that it is, and often totally snarled up. Forget 20mph. It should be one-way.
  20. I spoke to them today and was told they hadn't set any dates yet and I should call back in a couple of weeks.
  21. Jim Cox. Haven't got his number on me but if you do a search on the forum, you'll find it. Otherwise PM me and I'll find it for you
  22. Not able to recommend anyone, but I just thought I'd share this: the excellent wood floor sander who restored our floorboards to their former glory told me that he has never seen active woodworm in all his 30 years experience of restoring (mainly) Victorian floorboards. And that any evidence of inactive woodworm that he has seen has never been anywhere near enough to threaten the integrity of the wood. He advised us very strongly against having our floors treated in any way. Good luck with house sale.
  23. Hi My eldest did this to the point where he did get a bit poorly, so we stopped potty training. Clearly, although he understood what the potty was for etc., he just didn't want to use it. He's very independent and wants everything to have been his idea, so we just waited. Shortly after he turned 3, he decided he wanted to use the toilet/potty, so he did. We've hardly had any accidents and now he takes himself to the toilet without being reminded. He's 3 yrs 5 months. If I were you, I'd just put her back in nappies for the time being.
