  1. Although SuperManny may have upset some, please don't dismiss the book suggestion http://www.amazon.co.uk/Talk-Kids-Will-Listen-Child/dp/1853407054

I've a 3 year old boy and have read this book numerous times and can truly say we are all much calmer and reasonable when we follow it's suggestions.

Yes it's hard in the heat of the moment but I guess if something is practised enough it eventually becomes second nature.

And surely if http://www.amazon.co.uk/Talk-Kids-Will-Listen-Child/dp/1853407054 suggest it to their mentors reading list it must make some sense as they deal with some very difficult situations. :)

  2. All kids are different and don't think you can always encourage them to play with what are typically classed as gender specific toys. I added a doll to my boys selection of toys when he was about 2 and he refused to play with it - wouldn't even hold it! It eventually went to his niece. He does however have lots of teddies and will create tea parties for them. Neither my husband nor I have any interest in cars but he's infatuated with them and loves to watch F1 racing! Also his first word was wheel. On the flip side he's extremely sensitive and pre school have commented on his concern for other children when they're upset. So I guess if he isn't interested in playing dolls then his caring side can be nurtured in other ways and it doesn't mean he won't have a sensitive nature.
  3. I agree the price does seem to have increased quite quickly & the cut isn't always the greatest, however in their defence they didn't charge me a few weeks ago when my 2 year old only let the lady cut one half of his hair and then when I convinced him to go back a week or so later the lady who successfully managed to cut his hair double checked with me that I hadn't been charged the last time.
  4. Think it all depends on personality of child. My boy loves Tumble Tots, it's taught him to climb safely and be adventurous yet safe on park equipment that's possibly for kids above his age. Yet a friend's boy who was much more in to climbing than mine at a younger age found it all too easy and therefore wasn't all that interested.
  5. My boy's the same age and hasn't had nappies at night since January, 8 months on he sleeps through some nights and others he wakes us up for a wee. On the very odd occasion he wakes up having wet himself. I've heard being dry at night has a lot to due with a hormone called vasopressin?? I guess what I'm saying is that it can vary from week to week, month to month. Sounds like your girl is doing great so far. :)
