The group welcomes new members with open arms, even if you are just thinking about setting something up or starting out on your own, and aims to offer a friendly atmosphere in which to explore any issues or questions that members or newcomers might have that month that other members may be able to help with. We occasionally have speakers to give advice on relevant topics for half an hour or so,do come along at 8pm on Wednesday to Daisy Lets & Sales at 5 London Road SE23 3TW and catch up, meet new and existing members, have a chat and some nibbles and a glass of wine! 5. Hi I thought I'd share this invite to a social/celebration, as many self employed women, like myself, have an interest in standing up for gender equality generally, so thought it might be of interest - if anyone is interested in meeting the WEP London Assembly candidates - and finding out more about the Women's Equality Party, come along on Tuesday to this free event, there will be speakers, drinks and cake.. register interest below please so they know numbers :o). Tuesday 22nd March, 7-9.30pm The Bussey Building/CLF Art Caf? 133 Rye Lane Peckham SE15 4ST https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/women-of-south-london-a-celebration-tickets-23051999150
  6. Hi Daisylets is supporting the local voluntary Think BIG project, to inspire young women and girls into creating their own work and running their own businesses. Local female business owners give talks to girls in schools on their own path to business, which can be very varied and point out the transferable skills gained from school and earlier jobs. We aim to not only inspire girls but create peace of mind in the knowledge that the choices they make now may not set the course for the rest of their life, it's just the start of their journey! If you are a local female business owner having been running your own business for more than a year and would like to volunteer to get involved in a future event, or provide inspiration on the website, please fill out the sign up form on the website.www.thinkbigproject.uk @inspirethinkbig If you have contacts in a local school or community group and you think they would be interested in collaborating to provide a free event for their organisation, please pass on this information and/or get in touch: www.thinkbigproject.uk @inspirethinkbig Thanks everyone, we are looking to inspire the girls in all local schools, showing them real local, relatable, businesses and the stories behind the women who run them. We were very excited to hold the first event at Elmgreen School in Tulse Hill at the start of the month - it went brilliantly - 11 speakers for 6th formers/year 13 girls and we'd all like to do it again, but need help in linking up with local secondary schools & community groups. Thanks for your help :o)
  7. Anyone on the hunt for a loft company - I personally had a loft conversion with very small dormer (Dulwich Estate restrictions, bah!) done by Outlook lofts including a whole new roof and they were great, my usual roofer said the roof looked like a great job (and he'd soon tell me!) and we've had no problems a year later. Dave the owner is brilliant, an all round nice guy and willing to go the extra mile personally when needed - which says a lot :o)
  8. Mums in Business, next free meeting ~ July ? 11th 2012 - this Wednesday This month we are having a social, so come along for a drink and tell us what you've been up to and catch up on some gossip, new members welcome of course, just email me [email protected] We are a group of mums in and around East Dulwich who come together for support, networking and joint working. The group welcomes new members with open arms and aims to offer a friendly atmosphere in which to explore any issues or questions that members or newcomers might have that month that other members may be able to help with. We occasionally have speakers too to give advice on relevant topics for half an hour to an hour. The meeting is free to attend (contribution of ?2-?3 towards drinks and nibbles is appreciated as this is administered by volunteers) and is intended to be a support group for like minded mums running or wishing to start their own businesses rather than a hardcore networking meeting ? our way of networking is low key and not scary at all! This is in recognition that there are issues that mums face when trying to get businesses off the ground that others do not have to contend with ? no perfectly timed speeches required! More info here: www.mumsinbusinessdulwich.wordpress.com Please join us for a glass of wine and a nibble! Hope to see some of you at the Daisylets office at 8pm, please let me know if you are coming so I can plan nibbles ahead, thanks Claire

  10. The East Dulwich Forum...what a fabulous resource...wouldn't you know it...I was literally reading this thread when Ms Electricity key scam artist knocked on the door! This is the second time this has happened in two months - we're on Landells Road. Anyway she was stopped in her story mid sentence by the fact that we know all our neighbours and knew exactly what she was up to. The joy of turning the tables on the scammer was delicious! My partner called the police on 020 8721 2447 (which is the safer neighbourhoods team number - which was on answerphone (what is the point!) and then called 999, while i followed her up the road. She ran off and got into a car - but not before i ran after her and got a good look at the guy driving and got the car number plate. Below are their description. Let's see what happens... Her : Black, skinny, dreadlocks early 30's Him : White, bald/crew cut mid 30's Car Registration : W572UJB
  11. Beth! please bring some choc to the next MIB meeting if it's near you!!! I've been salivating at the very words on this thread .. mmmm.. lucky I'm not walking distance from the shop or you'd never get me out of there.. it'll make a change from eating the 10 zillion carrot sticks and humous I normally get through at the meetings.. I'll buy you a coffee :o)
