People putting cones out to reserve parking spots
DJKillaQueen replied to Otto's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I agree...I think most people understand why a business regularly needing to park a van to load might want to do that....whereas the residential occupier is just highjacking the public highway for himself. But all praise from me to the person who has challenged your neighbours cones lmao....wonder if they are an EDF follower. ;-) -

I don't care either lol...but if someone wanted to park there they can move the cones and park. He wouldn't be able to stop them. -

I never use Chris Petty's services and nor do the vast majority of local residents no doubt...so yes of course he should have a special privilege because a few people say so...that's like me saying my local newsagent should cone off the road outside his shop because he privides me with a service......he has NO automatic RIGHT to cone off the Road and I really can't understand why anyone thinks differently. -

But why should he have special dispensation, from the 'community' of all people who don't own the highway either? What if every shop/ business put cones outside their premises preventing anyone else from parking somewhere they are legally allowed to park?.... If he wants a private parking space he has to pay for it, just like everybody else. -

LOL 2sheds....I think it costs more than a few hundred to have the curb dropped but yes a white line means no parking. Not the same as putting cones onto the road though :) -

No-one has said anything to suggest disliking the 'look' of someone is reason to ask them to move. However many burglars will sit outside a property and watch it before actually burgling it so perhaps a healthy interest in just who is sitting outside your home is no bad thing.

People putting cones out to reserve parking spots

They still have no right to do it and if they want a reserved space they can pay the council for one. I've moved cones before to park. There's nothing the cone owner can do about it. -
Rosie, no one is talking about people stopping to have a chat on a pavement. We are talking about anti-social people who are either leaning on private property or causing a disturbance. I regularly ask people playing loud music in cars with their windows open parked outside my home to turn it down. The law is clear about noise nuisance along with anti-social behaviour and indeed tresspass. And most people are reasonable when asked not to lean on a fence or to turn music down. These youths that started this thread obviously have no other intention in life than to do as they please and show antagonism to people, and one day they'll antagonise the wrong person and I for one won't have an ounce of compassion for them. SCSB79....if they are smoking weed (which is an illegal drug after all), just call the Police.......they'll never know who called and they'll park somewhere else in future.

I would like to say that FHF has been very open to comments about the script and is realistic about what can be done. He is committed to getting the script right.

Yeah wonder what all those people who regularly have to suffer the noise of anti-social people congregating outside their homes would say to being told to move...why on earth should they (many of them can't anyway)? If I want to drink outdoors I do it on my OWN doorstep not someone elses. And I wouldn't think twice about asking anyone to move away from my front door.

Hmm see I've had many instances where I've bought something at a supermarket with a ticket price on the shelf only to find the till price different. It was usually the case that the shelf price was an offer that had expired but the supermarket have always told me they have to honour the shelf price. On one ocassion I found a leg of lamb in the fridge with the wrong price printed on it (of just ?1.10). Again the manager said he had to sell me it at the misprinted price.

Easyrider is the only kind of movie that can be done on the hoof but contrary to myth it did have skeleton script and a budget. The thing that blows me away about Easy Rider though is that it was made the same year as The Sound of Music. Now that's what I call revolution!

Agreed KPC - there were just too many fouls for Webb to do anything else. FIFA rules are clear and referees are expected to adhere to them. You can not allow play to continue (to see what happens) after a serious tackle. Referees are instructed to stop the game immediately....so Webb had absolutely no choice. The Dutch should be ashamed of themselves. Their only gameplan was to stop Spain playing (whatever it took) rather than playing their own game. They walked onto that pitch having already decided they were likely to lose. All of the nonsense that has followed in their criticisms of Webb is a smokescreen for their own shameful performance. What should have been a compelling final was nothing more than a display of the kind of thuggery usually only found in the Sunday League and the only people to blame are the players themselves. Not Webb or anyone else.

ooh make sure it's nice and rusty Rosie!

Totally agree.. these kind of youths need standing up to. All the police will do is tell them to move on - where they'll be equally troublesome to whomever has the misfortune to cross their paths. They must be local though and will pop up again no doubt.

Posted by: matthew123 Today, 09:21AM Thought the Ref was poor last night and spoiled the game, whether because of his reputation from the Premiership I don't know but he had no authority on the game. It's a World Cup final and there will be late tackles early in the match but instead of using his discretion he continually nipped the flow of the game. What is a referee supposed to do in a game that is as bad tempered as the Dutch were? He had no choice but to issue the number of yellow cards he did. And a game will be stop start when that many fouls are being committed? I'd say he had total authority over the game but the Dutch didn't care. And despite Dutch protestations the linesman was spot of the goal. The high boot into the chest tackle would have been a straight red for me but it could also argued that it was 'an attempt to get the ball (as opposed to the player) with dangerous play' which is probably why Webb only gave a yellow. Had it not been a final I'm sure Webb would have sent off more Dutch players with second yellow cards but if anything he tried to keep the game credible as opposed to reducing it to a red card farce. Webb also refereed the Champions League final. There is no doubt that he is a very good international referee.

hmm intelligence imo is the ability to understand information and to then reinterpret it. Genius is the ability to rewrite it and the ability to commmunicate it is just well...good communication skills. But seeing as we live in a world where having a big pair of bristols will earn you more having a first class maths degree then who really gives a f*ck. >:D<
