  1. My little one would like to take up sewing, does anyone know if there are any children's classes near by?
  2. Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the plans are for the empty shop on Maxted Road, near Ganapati?s take away?
  3. Hello, Can anyone tell me if there is somewhere local that sells lace/pearl fabric trim or ribbon? I would like to add a bit of detail to my daughters dress. Thanks
  4. Dear Lindsey<3 and jennyh, Thank you both for your feedback. I have been speaking to others locally and it appears there may be some interest in this sort of thing. Thanks again Charlee
  5. Hello all, I have been offered the opportunity to take over the running of a small family business providing soft play / play equipment hire for young children. The equipment would be hired to keep children entertained at events such as children's birthday parties, weddings, family events etc. Included in the hire package would be a range of soft play shapes, rockers, ride-ons etc. all suitable of under 5's and would be available for hire either at home (inside or in the garden), or at venues/hall.... I'm looking into the practicalities, but before I commit myself, I wanted some feedback from parents - would there be any interest in this sort of thing locally? I am not sure if it current success is due to the area it is located in and what is available locally for parents/children up there. Any comments & feedback would be welcome Thanks Charlee
  6. How about a Karate Party http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?25,1144871

  8. Hello all, I bought a lovely book at my little one?s school fair which I wanted to share with you all, it?s called ?The Mummy Shop? (some of you may have come across it already). It?s such a nice fun story proving each child?s mum is the perfect one for them. This book has quite quickly replaced our regular bedtime story to become a firm favourite. The blurb is below: Does your mummy tell you off for jumping on your bed? Does she make you eat vegetables when you don't want to? Then call The Mummy Shop, and we will help you find the perfect new mummy. 100% satisfaction guaranteed! When a little boy grows tired of his mummy, he calls The Mummy Shop for help. But after a number of mishaps and misunderstandings, he starts to think he may have made a big mistake.. A laugh-out-loud tale of one boy's quest to find the perfect mummy... his own!
  9. Many thanks Ginster and kristymac1, I have pm'd you both.
  10. You could try the Honor Oak Community Centre. It?s not too far from Ivydale Road and has a large hall and kitchen as well as a smaller room/cr?che space (nice for younger children? parties) and a garden. From what I can remember the price is around ?25.
  11. Good afternoon all, I have been tasked with making two cakes for my Godchildren this weekend, and wondered if anyone had had a set of alphabet letter cutters that I could borrow for a few days (such as the those attached)? I have tried cutting the letters freehand and let?s just say it has been a COMPLETE disaster and time is running out. I am hoping someone on the EDF will come to my rescue! Many thanks Charlee
  12. Thank you so much for your feedback. After 100+ views and no comments I was beginning to think may be this was a terrible idea. Saffron, I completely agree with you about including other areas. I thought I would focus on forum users first as my test market - although I know many are not based in Dulwich. I would say most parties happen between 12-4pm on a Saturday, so I would think I could possibly do approx 3 parties maybe 4 at a push each Saturday?? You all raised very helpful and valued points regarding costs, logistic as well as licensing issues, and this has given me much food for thought. Time to do a bit of research I think. Fingers crossed, in the not too distant future I will be on the forum posting a new party service! Thanks again for your thoughts:))
  13. Hello Forum, I'm thinking of setting up a services offering character appearances (see pic) at children's parties, doing a range of things such as: - Welcoming the guests - Surprise birthday appearance - Bring out the birthday cake - Handing out party bags etc - Photos opportunity At my niece's party recently Minnie Mouse (aka me) surprised her by bring out her birthday cake as everyone sang happy birthday and she absolutely loved it. A number of parents thought this was a lovely touch and this has made me wonder if this was a services of potential interest to other children/parents? The idea being that instead of hiring a party entertainer for 2 hours which can be quite expensive and limited to a specific number of party guest, this would be approx 30-40 minutes appearance at a fraction of the cost, but with all the excitement. Do you think something like this would work in East Dulwich?
  14. Hi Anya, I had an emergency c-section and for me it was very traumatic experience - to say the surgery didn?t go according to plan would be an understatement!. However for me, it wasn?t so much the physical pain but the ?emotional fallout? afterwards. I am happy to speak more
  15. I?m loving these stories EDMummy my mother did the same thing. Once she got put my coat on and went downstairs to get her coat, she picked up her keys and left the house. It was only when she got to the bottom of the road and a neighbour asked how the baby was doing did she remember she left me dressed on the bed!! My baby brain often involved my car. On one occasion after leaving work I discovered my car had been stolen, I called my OH in a tearful panic as I had left all the new baby stuff in the boot. It turns it hadn?t been stolen, I had simply parked the car on another side road:) Also a number of times I found myself trying to use my car key to open someone else car. It wasn?t until the real owner turned up and pointed out I was at the wrong car that I realised the mistake
  16. (I posted this in the Wanted section but realised I might get a better response here) Hi all, I have finally decided to retain and become a primary school teacher, however in order to complete my application I need to demonstrate some work experience in a school. I would like to teach lower primary e.g. KS1 and wondered if there were any primary school teachers on the forum (or anyone with connections to a school) who may be able to offer me some work experience (ideally between 5-10 days). I have an enhanced CRB and I am quite flexible regarding dates. Due to government changes regarding tuition fees I doubt very much that I will be in the position to apply to study in 2012, so I am hoping to go through clearing this summer. Although I have experience shadowing a class a few years ago, my course requires me to have experience in the year I wish to apply (this September), so I am urgently seeking an opportunity to sit-in and observe a primary school class. If anyone can help, or has suggestions of possible schools I can approach please PM. Thanks Char
  17. Hi, I sent mine to Oakfield also. We looked around all the other schools and like Kimmy1080 says, we got that gut feeling when we looked around Oakfield. Very happy so far
  18. Opps very sorry. Happy for this to be removed. Sorry and thanks
  19. Here is a preview of some of the capes that will be available at the fair on Saturday:
  20. Yes I will be at the Goose Green fair this weekend, I am very much looking forward to it. The capes are available in 2 sizes; Superhero (ages 4-7) and Sidekick (ages 2-4) and tutus are available in sizes xs (12-15") to Large (25-28"). Both the tutus and capes start from just ?9.99. Please do visit the website for more information, or come along to the stall on the day and say Hi :)
  21. Hi all, I make reversible superhero style children?s capes (www.tutusandcapes.co.uk) and will be attending a fair in the area next week. As it won?t be possible for me to create personalised capes on the day, so I thought it would be nice to have readymade initial available to be given out with each cape purchase. As a result I am trying to find out popular children?s initials in the area, so I have a rough idea of what letters I should make multiples of. For example my daughter is two Zack?s (Z) and Ella?s (E) in her nursery class. Suggestions of popular initials/names would be most appreciated. Thanks
  22. How about this 'Make mine a pint' gift? It's a pint glass with a pair of socks and a washcloth
