Annasfield to satisfy the curious, why don't you list 10-20 companies that it could be, including the one it is and we'll place bets.

I missed that. What's happening with the Crown House near the leisure centre? (Missed that also)

With you there.

Is it easy to sell a house in East Dulwich?
New Girl replied to lesalden's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'll buy it for 300,000 :) I'm a first time buyer. Can I tug at the heart strings? -
I genuinely don't think people come from far for a night out. The taxis may be taking them onto other venues in different locations. Thought of that? I believe locals and people from surrounding areas come here. Two separate groups of friends visited last week under duress and they all live in Clapham and go out in Clapham or town. They've never been to Dulwich and wouldn't if it wasn't because I was here and made them. And it's not like the 37 takes long! The overground from Peckham to Clapham High Street isn't difficult. And yet they wouldn't come back for a night out as there is a greater variety of bars and venues in Clapham. We have pubs. A lot of pubs. My northern home village has 5 pubs. With a population 5,000 it caters for a few drinks for the locals but not a night out location. Don't get me wrong, I'd take a pub with a fire over a bar, every time! But my point is that East Dulwich is fantastic for a night with friends and food and be home by midnight. But it is not the destination for party goers or bar trawlers. During the day time it is no different, as we have nothing special here that would draw people to travel far for it.

Blimey, I agree with Louisa :) No one would venture to East Dulwich for clothes, shoes or the like during the week. It tends to be the 'from home workers' (I'm one if anyone fancies a coffee to break the monotony), nannies, and people on days off or retired. It's like someone said earlier, if they want clothes they'll go into town or shop online. A friend who joined me for a drink last Monday afternoon needed cheap clothes for travelling and travel essentials. Asked if there was anything in Dulwich and all I could suggest was Sainsbury's or Peckham. She was off to Tooting as it has a bigger Primark. No one comes to Dulwich for nights out (locals will) but they will go to Clapham. Although that may change with a Picturehouse coming. East Dulwich is great for us locals as we have the essentials but I just cannot see Cath Kidston making business during the week and I'm not sure people will travel here for it as they have much more choice in town or other places.

I got the ferry from Hull (or 'ull if you're from that way) when I used to work there. We did 12 hours in Bruges. Ferry - beers all night. Shuttle bus to Bruges, breakfast in Bruges on the square. A walk around the tower and historical sculptures then sausage and beer at the Christmas market. Boat ride round the rivers and then get yourself to de garre. A bar that serves their own beer 'de garre' at 13/14% (from what I can remember). They don't do pints funnily enough. Evening done. Ferry home. 'In Bruges' should be a pre requisite to visiting the city.

That is incredible! A work of pure genius. Do we actually have a credible leader who we'd be proud to send to the Americans or Russians and would do the job? I honestly have no faith in any of them. I'm no labour bummer but I wish it was David heading up the opposition party and not his wet blanket of a brother. He seemed to have a few more balls and brain cells. But then again, the rest of them aren't much better.

Really? Unfortunately mines over a month and I've certainly perforated that line. Thats the only saving grace of forking out that much for a circular piece of paper... The satisfaction of getting a perfect circle.

Joy of joys. I came back from my holidays (lovely sun and alcofrolic drinks, in case you were wondering) to the joy of finding out that some t***/s have stolen the front grills off my car. This twas preceded to the extra treat of finding my car being keyed. Just be careful and vigilant. If anyone has any spare vw grills I'll be more than grateful :)

What happens to the ones that expire next year? Do I need to keep it hanging suspended from my windscreen? And I mean it's hanging on by a thread and wouldn't mind being shot of it. I haven't been following this too closely and haven't checked the website but I do think it's going to end in chaos.

I would like a running buddy/gym class mopper of brow and a possible drinking connoisseur going forward. I'm game if you fancy a run, unless someone's volunteered their services? I'm also female, nearly 30 and fancy some motivation. If yourself or anyone else wants to take on this task, get in touch :) Happy runnings or should I say cool runnings? Edited for disgraceful lack of grammar.

You need the cyclists representation.

I imagine it is El Pibe and it's fair point. I just think it's a little unfair to the charities who are trying to provide clean water such as water.org. But it has managed to make a Scottish Island a drought zone http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/als-ice-bucket-challenge-demand-leaves-island-without-water-9694074.html :)

The British Red Cross and UNICEF must be squirming in their seats watching all that clean water go to waste. I'm all for charity and think its brilliant they've raised so much awareness and money but I do feel it's a slight kick in the face to fund one charity by wasting a resource that another charity is so desperately trying to provide. You gotta love Patrick Stewart.

I've recently spent time with a friend who I haven't seen in a while and never appreciated the anxiety and struggle she goes through and she had vaguely touched upon it many moons ago. On the outside she glows. Ever confident and smiling. That happy go lucky facade. But deep down she's in real pain and I only completely realised the other week. It pained me not realise just how deep it went and how fragile she looked. Pugwash I take a bow to you and your family and your husband. It takes patience and a lot of love and care to support someone who goes through this. I don't mean to sound condescending but my friends husband left her as he couldn't deal with it so I admire anyone that does. And yeah Salsaboy I want her body in a few years time :)

Bubble football in Peckham Rye
New Girl replied to benlancaster's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
From the website posted you have to organise a venue, be it a park, hall etc and bring people and it's ?20 a person. I don't know if they have specific sessions in the park that you can just show up at and pay subs. But if anyone's organising an EDF bubble football game, I'd be well up for that!! -
And yet...... http://now-here-this.timeout.com/2014/04/09/gizza-tune-boris-the-mayors-backing-busking-for-2014/
