  1. Folding bike found in the Goose Green vicinity, I suspect it may have been stolen. If you have had one stolen PM me with the make/model and proof of purchase or frame number. This has been reported to the Police who are dealing with it.
  2. It is mainly caused by a leak which I reported a few days ago to Thames Water and found I was not the first person to report this. That said the clogging by leaves was making the puddle worse and someone, probably Southwark street cleaning has cleared them away reducing the flood.
  3. Do you know what was stolen? I.e. type/model etc.
  4. Folding bike found in the Goose Green area. Reported to Police who are processing. PM me with proof of purchase/frame number if it is yours and I will try and get you in contact with the person dealing.
  5. Maybe a time management coach would help you manage your time so you did not need to speed. Cameras or not too fast is too fast.
  6. ED exceptionalism, there are delays all over the area and other postcodes in the country. I see the whole area covered by the sorting office is now described as SE22.
  7. To be fair mask compliance on public transport does seem to have improved of late. I gave up my non-compliant car and have managed so far on bike and public transport. Plan to use zip car and van if need be. I wonder how much of peoples reluctance to give up the car is practical and how much just emotional resistance, it was a wrench but is it manageable.
  8. I had some contact with the Goose Green safer neighborhood team today (Police). They tell me that there has been some bike thefts on Lordship Lane. So lock your bike with a gold standard D lock!! To counter this the Council has apparently funded bike marking for the Goose Green residents. They advertise this on Next Door. I have recommended they also use the EDF. Strictly speaking it is funded for residents of Goose Green area (ward?) but I guess if you work or shop in that area using your bike they will also do it. The sessions are monthly and there should be one in about 3 weeks.
  9. Juat go to KCH and they will do it on a walk in as long as 182 days have gone since the last one. It helps if you have your NHS number. When I went last Friday I practically had the place to myself!!
  10. I can recommend Kings as long as you are 182 days past last shot, and are clued up because they initially said I needed to wait a day!!! when we sorted that out there was no queue.
  11. Well said, I was thinking extending the congestion zone to south circular may be the answer, this would discourage through traffic from outside the ss while residents would only pay a small annual fee which anyone sensible would think was worth it.
  12. It looks like quite a distinctive T shirt, anyone recognise the brand/message?
  13. can we come and demonstrate in favour of the LTN, I can't see the issue for local business as it is only through traffic that is impeded surely, it is probably easier now to go to bottom of Court Lane of Carlton Grove now and park than it was before. In fact last time I went through there, on my bike, there was loads of cars parked on Court Lane, for an event but they could also be using local business.
  14. Agree. I have started cycling on the back route, it feels safer even with traffic than weaving along Rye Lane, it is not a race track due to turns at junctions, which is my guess as to why it is less popular.
  15. LTNs are remaining because traffic air pollution is harming our lungs, air pollution is contributing to global warming which is destroying our way of life, road accidents are harming cyclists and pedestrians, embedded carbon cost of cars contributes to gobal warming, people not getting enough exercise is leading to poor health outcomes, noise pollution is damaging wildlife, how many reasons do you need!! As for the elderly and BAME groups being most against, in the case of elderly I think they have been brainwashed by anti LTN propaganda, it is weight of traffic that is main cause of congestion- not LTNs. BAME, be interesting to know why- maybe they do not feel as safe on the streets/public transport? Bring in road pricing ASAP (weighted by locality and time of day etc. ) which is the only thing which will sort this out!!
  16. To be fair the cycle route goes to the west of Rye Lane and comes out by Lidl. This is what I am using as dodging many pedestrians is not too great for cyclists either.
  17. Dulwich Paragon, your local sporting cycle club, is running a 'Commute to club' initiative for women cyclists who would like to develop their cycling in the further/faster direction and maybe join a club but feel unsure about what is involved. http://www.dulwichparagon.com/2021/09/21/dulwich-paragon-launches-commute-to-club-initiative-for-women-cyclists sadly links do not seem to work but search for Dulwich Paragon and there is a link on the main page. Program starts October and there will be an into meeting. We are lucky enough to be able to get to green fields in around an hour from here and the club offers load of opportunities for different types of cycling. Ask me any immediate questions in the thread.
  18. I'm finding this discussion increasingly bizarre. Every day the news if full of stories about the need to cut CO2 emissions, floods, droughts, COP2? etc. Some ways to do this, e.g. make fewer short car trips, are a lot easier than others such as switching from gas to electric heating. But everyone is still railing against LTNs. Frankly I don't think it matters much what residents want or don't want, it has to be done. If you don't want LTN come up with another workable suggestion to reduce car traffic.
  19. Parking is bad enough now- Scrap the car and get a bike then!! Bike shed is approx 1 car space and holds 6? bikes (I think)
  20. Thanks Sally, will do. I don't find the Bellenden Road junction any safer due to backed up traffic and motorists always jumping the lights!!
  21. I have always felt pretty safe crossing the main road on the lights into Kelly Avenue, fine if you go into the bike box? The traffic mainly goes left behind you, or occasionally right but fine if you set off smartly as they go to your right.
  22. Agree re the bike route, there now seems to be a very narrow path from the A202 but I think only to the bar on Melon Road.
  23. To be fair this land was never really a park and has always been designated for development. I used to work on Sumner Road and never saw anyone using this land as a park. Local residents do have the canal path, Burgess Park at the end of the road, Lettsom gardens not far away etc.
