  1. Another vote for the guys in Nunhead after stopped using Sainsburys guys. They even t-cut out paint marks on my bumper from someone kindly scraping it when parking for no extra charge.
  2. FFS!!! Email this: "Hi there, I am a local neighbour and was kept disturbed last sat until about 2 am with music coming from your pub. This is not something which I have particularly noticed before, so was wondering if you could possibly reassure me that it may have been a one off or otherwise? Hope to hear from you soon Regards" To here: [email protected] Manager is Richard I think - nice chap.
  3. Hi there, Came out of the house this morning to find someone has done a proper number on my car overnight. Have found out a small red car ploughed into mine (parked) at around 03:15 this morning on the bend of Crawthew Grove. Unfortunately, they then drove off, and unless can find out more detail, or registration etc, then nothing police can do, and no claims is a gonner along with excess of repairs! If anyone did see of hear and could get in touch, would be much appreciated. Ta.
  4. Same with the cubby holes I didn't know existed! Police actually came out to meet me to look for cctv nearby (wasn't any). Defo report. (I couldn't work out what to report as online, so just called 101).
  5. Anyway. Heard a rumour was going to be a QuestionAir.
  6. If they do take it. Then will have Bishop, Actress, Rye and Rose all owned by Greene King.
  7. Alex, Found exactly the same thing happened to mine on Sat on Crawthew Grove. Door slightly ajar, glove box etc all left open, but nothing to take, and they didn't close the door properly. Audi? Will also report to the police now.
  8. Cherry tree to be closed for 8 weeks for ?400k refurbishment.
  9. Has been bought by these guys. http://redcombpubs.co.uk/our-pubs/
  10. Builders on site say it is going to be a 3 month pop-up, but they don't know what.
  11. From chatting to someone involved in the pub..: No different pricing, Don't have private equity - same people for years. Time taken has all been about getting structural steel right so the building didn't fall down when levelling the floor. Still looking at mid to late Nov.
  12. Heard the Bishop going, then heard the bottles later around 12:15. Also alarm going off this morning for ages somewhere nearby. (May be time to upgrade the windows..)
  13. FYI Worldwiser, I have heard this noise as well, and have a peer out of the window. Almost every time recently, it hasn't been the bishop, but sounds like somewhere over the road in Lordship Lane (can't quite see where from where I am).
  14. Would say this is very in line. Without knowing how much extra space there is out back or underneath would say cheap if anything. This could even be just for one side!
  15. Had a facelift and looks like different guys running it. Prices gone up (a bit).
  16. Cafe at the front with creche / nursery at the back I believe.
  17. I wish everyone would stop making fun about this car. They used to be everywhere and give us a real sense of community spirit. Instead of trying to clean up & gentrify the area further by getting it removed, could we not get it turned into a community led finger painting skills development venue?
  18. Apologies for my implication. Second poster being new and singing praises made me ponder.
  19. Pardon my cynicism Barry, but you wouldn't happen to deliver for Village Tandoori would you? Have never heard anyone use the phrase "so come and give them a try" in real life rather than advert speak before.
  20. I thought it was a typo in the title of original post. Disappointed.
  21. My tip would be, make sure you keep your head up and back straight when doing bigger / longer hills - keeps the weight of your head central, rather than pulling you over up the hill. Only makes a small difference - but think it helps psychologically if you are concentrating on it and struggling!
  22. Dulwich Mum 'outed' herself last year I think it was.
  23. I think that the Ivy House as a project is an extremely interesting one. It is unknown territory, and I for one would love to see it work well to create a thriving local pub. Sorry for being someone else throwing their 2 penneth in, but will probably need to get used to it with the venture set up the way it is! What I would say from briefly looking at the budget, is that what is lacking at this stage is any indepth knowledge of the operating of a pub business. I would strongly suggest that you seek the advice of an unbiased professional on this for some home truths, as it is arguably the most important part of ensuring it is a success. Some of the startup costs are way off, and parts missing from these and operating costs are scary. Budgeted gross profit margin is low (of course would like to keep costs down for customers in a community venture, and being able able to buy free of tie being taken into account). Wage %'age is v. high, and again while wanting to pay london living wage is admirable, if the pub doesn't work nobody will have a job. Adding in missing costs based on other parts of this budget will leave the place closer to break even, and a drop below these forecast takings will put it in the red very quickly. (I also think these are optimistic). Hiring the right manager will be able to help with some of these things, but bear in mind these managers will all have had people who made the plans for them to work to. Anyone manager who could do all this work for you - you wouldn't be able to afford, or they will already be doing their own thing. Just to re-iterate, I think the pub and the venture is great, and would love for it to be a role model for other similar ventures, but would hate to see the place getting into a pickle from getting off on the wrong foot.
