Thats what happened with me, Snowboarder! Bit of a shock, went from the normal scan to 4d. I was slightly freaked out, but liked it. Liked the photo even more though.

Most definitely, will send you a PM...

That is BRILLIANT, and I will attempt to use it on Baby B for breakfast tomorrow morning (baby b is being 'challenging' at mealtime at the moment, fab) Yesterday at the walk-in clinic, Baby B was making a fuss when we were waiting. I didn't want to take him out of his buggy and let him crawl around, like I'd normally do, so I sang him one of our favourite songs. It's to the tune of 'The Stripper' and I sing it to him when I am dressing him, to stop him screaming bloody murder. It goes like this: "A darling boy, a sweet-cute boy, A baby boy, a little boy! Stinky bum, stinky bum, sweet little bum, Cute son, sweet little son..." Ad naseum. Oh, the shame. (worked though, Baby B was in fits of laughter. Ruth-1, Social Norms-0)

Hi Sally, I had one, a bit of a suprise actually, at my anatomy scan with Baby B in August 2009! I send you a link to the picture of his dear little face if you'd like? It was amazing, when he was born he looked like the 4d scan picture- all fat cheeks and a button nose.

I am always convinced I hear Baby B crying, I do the same as snowboarder with the monitor. I've even woken Mr Baldock up at 4am "Baby is crying, see to him" only to be told "You're quite mad, woman, go back to sleep!"

MrsMc- I did the same thing to retrieve a bottle my husband had left in his room, to clean out and get ready for the 11pm feed. A friend had to hug her hoover once because her son was scared of the noise it made (she did it to show him it wasn't scary, but a nice hoover). I have found myself doing the same. Husband got Baby B to eat his lunch in Wagamamas by doing 'the aeroplane' with the spoon. This involved standing about 10ft away, and running at Baby B going 'whoooooooooooooooooooosh!!!' at the top of his lungs. I was MORTIFIED.

Thanks everyone, for all your well wishes and advice. I took Baby Baldock to the walk in centre in Peckham today, got seen very quickly. The GP prescribed some more antibiotics, and his burns were cleaned and re-dressed by a nurse. I have to try and keep the dressings on till Friday and then we're seeing the practice nurse at my own GP to have the dressings removed, and possibly replaced. The GP had me in tears, and basically accused me of abusing my son. He asked why I didn't take him to my GP 'the moment the burn occurred' and said 'have you come here so your son's doctor doesn't find out about this?'. The nurse was MUCH more understanding, but did warn me that my HV would probably follow it all up (as I suspected). Have been feeling like sh*t all day, and am now convinced that SS will swoop in to take away baby baldock :( Baby is responding well to the anti-biotics, smacks his lips when I come near him with the bottle, it's banana flavour I believe. His hand seems to be on the mend from having the dressing on it too. Heres hoping it all heals quickly!

Thanks, Belle. Feeling positive about drop in place, really glad Fuschia brought it to my attention because DH is always halfway to a seizure worrying about Seb! He's also currently got marks all over him from where he crawls too fast, faceplants into the carpet, and then carries on. Oh well, babies will be babies.

Have you tried contacting the church office at goose green church/comm centre? they have two halls, small and large and I know they rent both out on Mondays to the NCT and a sing and sign group...
-
No, because I was worried I'd get sent straight to a+e again. Will try Peckham walk in centre tomorrow. It's also close to softplay, so will ask if it's okay to take Baby Baldock there afterwards (see? being optimistic in a horrid situation)

I'm looking for after care advice, and reassurance. Also, because when we were last at Kings, he had blisters but none of them had popped *vomit*. Now one has popped and bleeds sporadically and I am full on panicking even though my own Mother (a doctor) told me this is normal. I just want to make absolutely 100% sure I am doing everything I can, and also to check for any possible infection.

Buggie- he was treated very, very well- everyone very attentive and lovely and smiley and Baby Baldock wasn't upset at all, everyone made him feel very calm and he spent a lot of time trying to be cheeky and smiling at various nurses. He was declared to be 'a right bobby dazzler'. I am really jumpy around hospitals in general, having spent a lot of time in them when I was younger. I also have this very real phobia that someone will say 'right, well, this was ALL YOUR FAULT, we're taking babby baldock from you now'. The first time we took him to paeds a+e, he had fallen off our bed, and it was noted as a head injury (thanks to my paranoid DH) and our HV got involved, and so did Social Services!!!! I know it's all to be absolutely certain that everyone is okay, but it still makes me paranoid. Kings is the best hospital I've ever experienced, bar Great Ormond Street, couldn't fault them really. I'm going to go into the walk in clinic that Fuschia suggested, if they then refer me back to Kings, then to Kings I will go.

Poor you! Baby S is quite snotty at the moment, but I think it's down to teething (again. 10 months old, 10 teeth). However, he did have a nasty cold like thing not that long ago, and the thing that helped most was something I read about on here! Before his evening bath, I filled up the bathroom sink with warm water, then dropped a karvol capsule in. It filled up the whole room and was really good in getting him to clear his little snout out. Also, it helped him fall asleep (I do the same with lavender oil when he's not snotty). Hope you all feel better soon!

V useful, especially as I have a slight phobia of Kings now :/

Thanks, Fuscia, this is right down the road from me, so I'll take him in tomorrow. Hopefully he won't have a screaming fit, and hopefully we won't have to wait ages!

St Giles Surgery in SE5. Same thing happenned when I had food poisoning. Spoke to GP on the phone the other day, she said she would try and pop by after work but didn't get round to it. Bugger.

Thanks for this, I'll call Kings from work.

A disclaimer: I am not normally this...crap at parenting. On Friday morning, Baby S (10 months) pulled a freshly boiled kettle onto himself. It got on his trousers (Thank GOD he was wearing thick denim combat trousers) and he also put his hand in it. His leg is fine, but he damaged his hand. Initially, he didn't cry much and was distracted easily from any tears. He ate and slept and played normally. However, on Friday afternoon, his hand went bright red and by 5pm he had some rather alarming blisters. I took him to a+e, and he was admitted overnight (probably because I was literally having a panic attack about it all- I suffered from pretty bad burns to my arms when I was his age, and still have the scars). He was given an IV as he was a bit dehydrated, as well as an antibiotic drip for a dose or so of antibiotics to be on the safe side, as we were having building work done and the place was a TIP. He was discharged and all was fine. We were given some creams etc, but were told that actually Sudocreme would also do the trick nicely. He is still using his hand for pointing, playing and eating. It doesn't seem to bother him that much but last night in the bath, the first blister which burst on Sunday started to bleed. Obviously I was inwardly hysterical, but I calmly got him out of the bath, cleaned him up, stopped the bleeding and applied some antiseptic. I can't get an appointment with my GP, they're booked up for the next week, and I don't want to take him to Kings again unless totally necessary; I just want a bit of advice and reassurance really. Is there anything else I can do for poor Baby S? (Who is his normal jolly, cheeky self all things considered). I forgot to ask the staff at Kings for any warning signs to look out for, whether scarring was likely, and how long it would all take to heal.

Who hangs out with their parents?
Ruth_Baldock replied to Saila's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I don't see my Mum all that often- she lives in Rickmansworth, and whilst it's not a million miles away, I don't drive and it's a hell of a way to go on the underground with Baby Baldock in his pram. She still works full time, and my siblings are at least 10 and 12 years younger than me, so are still at school so she looks after them as well. My MIL lives off Forest Hill Road, and she looks after Baby Baldock twice a week whilst I'm at work. DH has never lived more than a 10 minute drive from his Mum, and has never left the borough. We see his parents about 4 x a week. My son has a good relationship with my MIL but he laughs maniacally and crawls over to my Mum when he does see her. To be honest, I'd rather live in between both our parents, and it's a big issue between me and DH- I don't see why we need to stay in SE London because of his parents, yet he will not even CONSIDER moving more North (like, Gospel Oak even!) to be closer to MY parents. I'd better stop there, I can feel a full on rant coming... -

November Family Room Meetup? Anyone keen?

Friday generally seems to be the day everyone meets. Can't imagine trying to do it mid-week, would be even more pathetic and useless at work than I normally am... -

Katie, yes I agree re: Xmas. It's all creeping up far too soon! S is born on the 18th of December, so all these festive shop displays etc are not helping me try to forget that my teeny newborn is almost ONE! Saffron, hope you can make it this time- we missed you at the last one! Will I be seeing you this Friday at Push Studios? -
Morning Forum! Righto, last meet-up seemed to be a bit of a success, but that was back in September when it was still light at 7pm, and it was possible to leave the house without a coat. So, I think another get together is a bit overdue. Any dates or places that are particularly good? We went to The Mag last time, which people seemed to like (good burgers and salads too, if I recall...) Enjoy your Sundays!

Shameless plug for Bumps and Babes at Goose Green Community centre on Mondays (10-12) :) There is also one at St Faiths, Red Post Hill on Fridays- think it's 9.30-11.30

Hello forum! I've recently taken over as coordinator of the lovely NCT's Bumps&Babes group, which is held from 10-12 on Mondays at Goose Green community centre, for ladies with bumps, and for parents with babes aged up to 18 months. It's a lovely group, and has stopped me and Baby Baldock from going insane on more than one occasion. It's run by volunteers, and we currently have 8 of us...however, we are in need of more! Volunteers host in teams of two, typically once a month or so at the moment. If anyone is interested in volunteering, or is wondering what it involves, do send me a PM or e-mail me directly on [email protected] Ta v much!
