  1. Benefit has several excellent concealers, including a small kit with instructions.
  2. I think it looks fantastic - if someone happens to find ?850,000 they wouldn't mind donating we would definitely live there.
  3. Hello, Does anyone know what sort of time the post man does his rounds in Marmora Road area?
  4. I love Boing by Benefit, fantastic and lasts all day. (Mrs Chips)
  5. Totally recommend the Northern Lights trilogy by Phillip Pullman. Loved loved loved them and if you're in with any luck there will be another theatre production of them in due course too.
  6. We use Tesco delivery and have had no problems either with items or deliveries. Fruit and vegetables always fresh, rarely unable to provide items, and when this happens providing an alternative if we want it. We actually live on the third floor and the delivery men always bring the shopping up and into our kitchen without complaint - no mean feat!
  7. I totally appreciate the need for a seat when pregnant and would hope that people who notice you would offer. Although I have experienced more than one embarrassing episode where I offered a seat to women just carrying a few extra pounds and this is really mortifying for all involved. However, I think that if anyone else is like me in the morning they may well just not have noticed, even when bumps are very big they can be easily missed on a busy train/bus. Getting a seat to protect you and bump is your responsibility. If you haven't ask for a seat I really don't think that you should complain that someone hasn't magically noticed you and offered you theirs.
  8. The cycling superhighway from Tower Hill to Canary Wharf seems to me to be an example of this scheme done well. It avoids the main road, is quicker the main road and has a kerb to actually protect cyclists. If the route is planned well it could be extremely useful. I tried the link at the top of the page and it only took me to the large scale planned route - does anyone have a link to the actual planned route?
  9. The first rule of Marmora Club is that you don't talk about Marmora Club. (but seriously, all the best finding out about it as a Marmora resident)
  10. I completely respect someone opposing the late license - but this does feel a little bit like reading the Daily Mail. I've been out on Lordship Lane a few times on a Friday and Saturday evening and think it is a top place to go out and many of these posts are completely exaggerating the situation. No one should have to put with people urinating on their wall, but there also seems to be a lot of snobbery about 'the youth' and the wrong type of people going out. One of the delights of going out on Lordship Lane is that the places with late licenses are not horrid clubs like you would get elsewhere in London, they are bars and pubs where you can go in and sit down and continue your evening without having to queue to buy six pound a bottle. If we're going to debate these sort of things I think it is worth getting a bit of balance and I for one don't think it is anywhere near as bad as people are making out and harking back to imagined golden ages in the past is often cobblers.
  11. First of all, it is awful that someone has been mugged. But we live in a very safe area, at a time when, nationally, just about every crime is at a historical low. The most pervasive way in which crime affects society is through the way in which these stories are reported and the discussions afterward which perpetuate the idea that there is a mugger on every street corner and that 'the rap music' is turning youths feral. And to suggest that music will turn someone into a mugger is an easy way to ignore the hundreds of other more powerful influences on a child, particularly parenting. It is awful that someone has been mugged, but you could find exactly the same stories in newspapers forty years ago and you would just need to change 'hoody' for 'mod'.
  12. Definitely report it and state to the police that you are concerned about the possible repercussions and they should be able to act accordingly.
  13. Does anybody know anything about the derelict blue and yellow shop on Forest Hill Road? It has a large amount of debris piled up in front of it which for a while made it look like something was happening but there has been no movement for a while and it is pretty unsightly.
  14. I recommend the good old back snapper (the one contained in a plastic shell is best I think, then you can just throw the whole thing away and don't have to touch the mouse). Worked a treat for us, although only after we'd tried a mouse friendly catch and release trap and just ended up feeding the mouse chocolate for three days.
  15. Do you know why the planning applications were turned down?
  16. i heard it's going to be a Foxton's. I saw them delivering four thousand bottles of perrier.
  17. We've been there quite a lot - it's always top notch. Definitely one of the best places to eat down the lane.
  18. As an aside, Si Mangia gets run down on here every so often when we've always found it to be really good
  19. I would also recommend Dulwich Medical Centre, I've been with them for three years and they have been great during that time, no complaints here.
  20. I've lived in the area for 4 years and think it's great - always feels very safe and the views toward the city are amazing, particularly at night. "the Turkish" is a tremendous shop, always with a huge amount of fresh fruit and vegetables. Omrith and Si Mangia are great too, and having the co-op, the barbers and the post office at the bottom of the road is very handy too.
  21. Hi, Does anyone know what happened on Marmora Road at about 9-9.30 this evening? There was a police car and van parked up. Thanks A Nosey Neighbour
