  1. Shop next to Moxons is going to be a cracking new pasta venue, same setup as on Redchurch st in Shoreditch.
  2. Hi, I need to erect some scaffolding in front of my mid terrace house to paint first floor windows. Anyone got an idea of what price to expect and who comes recommended? Many thanks, C
  3. RPS fireplace are the only ones to consider, had them in to our house to fit a refurbished fireplace. Very fair value and very professional.
  4. Hi, I've got a John Lewis fridge freezer that's leaking, checked the leak and can't figure it out. Can anyone recomend someone who repairs fridges etc? Cheers, C
  5. The Gardens is great however like many other surgeries, the receptionists can be pretty terse.
  6. I can't believe the response this post has got. If you're the only person that's burgled in a 20 mile radius, you'll still feel unsafe. Let's use this forum as an opportunity to talk about what to do about it and provide support not write in upper case and make people feel worse than they do already. Great post on CCTV and alarms, maybe get the police to review the safety of your home, they often do that for free and would be enough to put someone off.
  7. John did a great job on a burst pipe on my rental property, very prompt and was half the price of the agents's plumber! Keep up the great work John! C
  8. Interest rates are at a 300 year low for a reason, our economy and banks are f'd. Any rise in rates risks more defaults and more banks going under... Hence they'll doubtful be any rise in rates and hence no bubble burst. Over the next 5 years rates will have to rise slowly as economies become stronger again with a gentle fall in housing prices.it's a fact that house prices, even in London, have to eventuallly reflect average earnings, so they just have to fall, but not overnight. It's tough if your in the market to buy as there seems to be a demand gap between one bed flats and houses, so it's the 2nd rung on the ladder that's a real issue.
  9. Here here! I can't bare the crapness of products sold at the Co-Op and those flaming queues!
  10. I very much doubt that a majority of people will do their 'weekly' shop at M&S, the stores, range and price really aren't designed for that, these stores are aimed at top up shoppers. The ready meal and loaf of bread on the way back from the station etc.
  11. RESULT! Parking aside this is a massive asset to Lordship Lane and works well with existing retailers. M&S majors on convienience food, so will only really affect Co-Op and nearby Sainsbury's Local and Tesco Metro, not affecting Moxons and the like. Not only that but it will potentially boost footfall. This is very good news. BTW, assuming this is a Simply Food, the average basket size will be no more than a Co-Op shop so I wonder how much more parking will be required. Deliveries will be no more disruptive than the Co-Op,who often do there's late at night to avoid traffic and congestion.
  12. If you're on Vodafone, buy a Sure Signal box, it connects to b/band and boosts signal in your home. It's the only way to get good signal in London. From work with Vodafone, my understanding is that all telcos are at near max capacity in London. Each (small) mast can handle 20 calls at once and they often cover a small radius.
  13. A very healthy, although unfortunate, debate indeed. Worth making a distinction between inter gang related violence and violent mugging/assualt. Often an individual can commit both acts but yesterday seems to be the former? I'm a mancunian exile, in Moss Side / Whalley Range, it's all a similar story, while gangs jossle for control and respect it will always spill on to the streets. Yesterday was no big deal in the greater context but still disturbing for those of us who see ED as a safer Sarf London borough. Like in Moss Side, the met police let these guys fight between themselves, their gang heirachy will naturally sort itself out while the police focus on people higher up the chain who instigate the turf war. Unfortuantely the turf has got bigger and more visible (Barry Road / Lordship Lane). One big gangster arrest often sorts it out for a few years before it comes back again. Gooch gang leader arrested My personal view is that we're reaching a critical tension between a rise in gang violence and growing discontentment among the working/middle classes, when is the tipping point? Sorry But I have little pity for the boys that got stabbed, boys or not, they know what they're getting into... they've seen the stories and campaigns in newspapers and on TV.
