  1. It's a dumb idea. You used to be able to get two cars out of LL. Now it's one. So the traffic backs up making it harder to cross - that or tempts people to cross between the cars. If pedestrians are interested in safety, they should try looking before crossing at the zebras rather than assuming drivers are psychic and know they're going to cross. A little give and take on both sides would go a long way.
  2. @littleEDfamily - a specific mixed group would be great so why don't we set one up? PM me if you'd be interested (and anyone else for that matter). @Pickle / Vickster - I'm planning on going to Dads and Littleuns this week so why don't you send your husbands along as well. Then I won't be the only newbie :)
  3. Thanks for all the advice - Dads and Littleuns sounds like a great idea. Handy for the Dog too - purely from a 'somewhere to go for lunch' point of view, of course :). Raybetts, can I just turn up or do I need to book?
  4. I've just started looking after my 8 month old daughter full time and was wondering if there are any groups for dads in Dulwich? There seem to be plenty of mother and baby groups but nothing much aimed at us dads. Any suggestions?
  5. We've got a bunch of fox cubs who play in our garden most mornings. They're very cute, but in a month or two, they're going to really start freaking our cats out. Any suggestions for friendly fox removal?
  6. Curmudgeon, sorry you've had your stuff nicked - it sucks. But I've got to say, I find all the people being offended on behalf of other people, rather amusing. Out of interest, how many people have actually had real contact with 'Travellers'. Also, what makes 'Travellers' a seperate race as opposed to it being a lifestyle choice (genuine question 'cos I honestly don't know).
  7. Seconded Ant. Waitrose is brilliant. Just popping in for some milk makes you feel middle class ;-)
  8. Chantelle, If you need to get to Blackfriars, look at somewhere on the 63 bus route - it goes right past the station. I can do the LL end of Dunstans Rd to Ludgate Circus in 50/60 mins door to door. No matter what people say, Peckham is dodgy and it's not nice after dark. Mrs Jim hates it and I don't exactly feel safe - if you can avoid the everyday stress of walking around a dodgy area, do it. Admittedly, the 63 goes through Peckham but you're through it in ten mins. It's also cheaper and a lot more reliable and regular than the trains and I get a seat every morning. It's worth thinking about. J
  9. I used to have the odd cup of tea in Club UK (seemed a good idea at the time). But the one thing I could never, ever stand was pissed up idiots eating chips. The smell/sight/thought of food at 4 in the morning after a fist full of party smarties - ye gods. The thought still turns my stomach.
  10. Club UK Complex Gallery Frantic Checkpoint Charlie in Reading Atomic Jam in Brum And various dodgy nights in London Bridge, Vauxhall and Brighton. Did Cream once and a bunch of Tribal Gatherings - very amusing. I still can't believe Club UK got away with it for so long. The 2nd bday party was mental - loads of pilled up loons wandering around in the shopping centre. It was all very George Romero. Anyway, must get back to the baby carrier research...
  11. If it is a Nadno's or KFC, can we please make sure it's a free-range only branch. This is ED afterall.
  12. We'll be having our first child at Kings in October so all this is really useful to know. I've had really good and really bad experiences in hospitals. When Mrs Jim was in St George's with meningitis she was in a side room that was grim and they tried to give her the usual awful food - people won't get better on slop. The way around it is to not take any crap from anyone. Be polite, be curteous, but if it comes to it, cause a scene and don't let whoever leave until it's sorted. But back to King's. Everyone at the Harris birthright centre has been absolutley brilliant when we've been for scans and tests. Apart from the receptionists that is. What is it about receptionists in medical settings? And the A&E team were really good when I sliced the top off my thumb making burgers.
  13. Thanks for all the advice folks, it's been a great help.
  14. We're set to become first time parents in October and we're already getting stressed re: childcare. One of us giving up work isn't an option and trying to find a nursery is proving almost impossible - massive waiting lists, won't take them until 18/24 months etc. What do other non-loaded ED parents do? Any suggestions?
  15. How about putting an M&S Simply Food in there? Or maybe a drive through kebab/curry/foie gras place?
