Thank you, FRM for clarifying ? I thought I was seeing (or rather not) things there! As a matter of interest, was EDF requested by another party to remove any posts relating to this incident? As I understand, it is not a police matter so surely its OK to discuss? Anyway, I think as Kingsdale is a local school, I think it is important to hear what is going on and surely whistleblowers should be allowed to speak up too?? From the post that you removed, I think he did the school more favours than himself.

Now the entire thread has gone! What is going on??
-
This thread no longer makes sense as a couple of posts have been removed presumably by EDF admin.
-
I think I have been censored! I notice that another post in the thread has been removed too. Not sure what I said that was so objectionable. Do you work for Kingsdale's senior management?? ;-)
-
Just noticed that my post in the Kingsdale thread in Family Discussions have disappeared! Not a figment of my imagination as someone else has referred to my post in his reply? Is this a bug or have I been censored? Pls investigate. Thanks

Cameron, you are not doing yourself any favours by comparing Kingsdale's senior management to the Nazi's. I presume that you are one of the whistleblowers. If you truly saw what you allege, then I think you are brave to come forward. Best to step back now and keep your distance and your dignity. Let the authorities deal with it and find out the truth. From what you say the matter is far from over. The silence (in media and forum) says it all really. Its the students I feel sorry for.

What to do with toddler shoes once outgrown but not worn out
prickle replied to ClareC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We didn't get through as many shoes as you did, but I have kept all of my daughter's shoes (!) She's nearly ten now and they are a nice momento of her childhood? -
Any news? I hope all the students received their GCSE results.

I think the fit also depends on the type of Birkenstock. I remember that when I first had one of the traditional two strap ones many moons ago from Natural Shoe Store, they (poss Bellenden Belle) recommended that I had a size that felt huge. The shoes were incredibly comfortable once worn in. I think your feet are supposed to grip the shoes, thus exercising the correct muscles and this is one of the benefits. Not sure about the newer more fashionable styles though?

I found the Kingsdale debate interesting too and was surprised that it was taken off. I am not sure how the discussion on this forum will affect the investigating officers. The fact that the story was picked up by the Standard and the Mirror was almost certainly due to the fact that David Cameron had visited the school recently. I am interested in following this story as like many, I have a child who will be transfering to secondary soon. Surely we can debate this issue without accusations of malicious intent? It is in the interest of the community that these matters are out in the open. As for Kingsdale, it is certainly a curiosity. On the one hand, it is undoubtedly a successful school. A school does not get outstanding ofsted without reason. I have many friends who have sent their children there and on the whole, they are happy with the school. On the other hand, its admissions procedure and the aggressive marketing tactics are offputting. There have also been instances of less than transparent information put out by the school, eg the way that it announced last year's exam results on their web site. I hope that whatever the outcome of the investigation, the school will use this experience to really clean up their act. Then it will be a fantastic school.

I would imagine that you will be out of catchment for Dog Kennel Hill. Not sure how good Brunswick is but it has a great sports hall!

Kingsdale being investigated for malpractice
prickle replied to BB100's topic in The Family Room Discussion
What is it about this school? Cameron visit one week, allegation of cheating the next? It likes to court controversy that's for sure. -
37 Bus Route - good and bad comments please
prickle replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Agree with most above. The only route to go west out of ED. Find it useful but would like more reliability and frequency. Edited to add: its also the only bus to go east out of ED to Peckham. -
:-S :))

Rats carry more than Weil's disease In my original comment I did not mention poison or any other method of extermination. Much as I hate rats, I do not want them to suffer. BUT we need to face the fact that London is rat infested. There are ways of control that are more humane such as birth control. Also we need to clean up - not drop food around on the streets. Will the people who misguidedly feed pigeons by leaving seeds and bread on the ground PLEASE STOP!
-
"It sounds as if the rats have been disturbed out of their usual space, so they're fetching up on your property - hence the dead ones and the ones running around in plain sight in daylightquestion mark. The cause could be building or road works nearby or someone else putting down poison to kill them. I can't help but feel sorry for them..." My sister-in-law had endless problems with rats (including several dead ones in the house). The cause turned out to be a large rat's nest underground in their garden. Doesn't have to be waste ground, their garden was lawned and well kept. Rats *are* vermin. They carry disease. We should not be sentimental.

How is the child - is he/she ok?

Thank you ruffler. I think mine will also be in the mid pathway (I hope not the bottom). I hope will be able to get a good balance of subjects esp as languages and humanities are her strengths? But good to know I don't need to worry about it for a few months yet!

Can any Charter parent out there explain to me how this works? My yr 8 has told me that next term they will be sorted into 'Pathways'. I presume this is an euphemism for streaming. My main concern is whether they are put in a certain Pathway for all subjects (ie regardless of their competancy in individual subjects). Also possibility of any movement between Pathways once the student has been put in one. I could and will ask the school, but am particularly interested in the consumer's view. Thank you for your help!

"[6] The blue block to the north of Grove Vale is part of the Grove Vale Depression. Because of the vertical scale intervals you cannot see the rest of the depression south of Grove Vale. However, if you walk along Grove Vale and look along the side roads you can see it quite clearly. The historical implications are for another thread. " I'm intrigued - what is the Grove Vale Depression and what are the historical implications? Could you explain in a nutshell?

Why is Southwark not a member of London Libraries Consortium? I find the selection of books available in our local, Grove Vale, disappointing and have been turned down when I suggested that they buy a particular book. With LLC I believe you can order books from any one of the libraries of around 12 london boroughs. They arrive swiftly. My Wandsworth friend speaks very highly of the service.

Aahh, my absolute favourite - the Silver Sword. And there is an exhibition at the Imperial War museum about this and other children's war books at mo. Any suggestions for books for girls please? My daughter loved: Anne of Green Gables Little Princess and Secret Garden by F Hodgeson Burnett Railway Children Tom's Midnight Garden and other books by Philipa Pearce Charlotte Sometimes by Penelope Farmer Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfield Hacker and Pig Heart Boy by Mallorie Blackman Also Clarice Bean series, Wimpy Kid series and anything by David Walliams She adores anything by Michael Morpurgo but won't even touch Harry Potter. I think seeing the films have spoilt them for her.
