  1. Hi there, I sent an email to the address above last week and have not had any reply. I just wanted to check whether you had received it. Please do contact me on [email protected] Thanks A
  2. It seems Dulwich was a hive of Police activity on Friday - my friend had her phone stolen out of her hand outside Adventure Bar on Friday night.
  3. If only I had have seen this topic earlier! I work at the War Rooms. Hope everyone enjoyed it!
  4. Goodness me, you are both well equipt...we will have to get onto the council asap! Thank you for your replies.

  6. This sounds amazing.....can't wait to hear more. I shall get my 3 housemates interested. Two of us were looking for ways to meet more people locally and the book club was the only thing that appealed due to the location being the pub....so this seems perfect! Looking forward to it Abi
  7. I think the only people who seem to be acting dignified and like adults and communicating coherently are the squatters themselves. Good on you girls and boys.... I have read the Squatters Handbook....it is fascinating!!
  8. I see a ideal project opportunity.... Let's get the community and squatters united - maybe through art and music!?

  10. Has there been any damage caused to the house by the squatters? And who does the property actually belong to? I think it's murky water to tar all squatters with the same brush, in either case. It is unfair to base opinions on the actions of others you may have come into contact with in the past. Yet, it can also be dangerous (in a non dramatic sense!) to not be wary of a group of people taking over an owned property. However. In a post such as this, and as residents of the area, then maybe we should steer away from the rights and wrongs and apparent lifestyles of sqatters and focus on what we all have an interest in. Our community. Preach over! Do excuse me for this! I have worked with a number of squatters on projects in the past and have been amazed to discover how varied their stories and situations are. Class has little to do with it very often! The vast majority of people I worked with had easily enough money to rent a stable home (probably more than me, since I work in a museum!) with heating and water, but often squatting was seen as a statement and a chosen lifestyle. Even a political reaction! So....back to the point. Is the house being damasged that they are occupying?!! Abi
  11. Thank you, that is great! I haven't stumbled across such a helpful page before! I guess it is just best to call them. What does everyone else have? Abi
  12. Hi there, I live in Ferris Road, and have noticed that we don't seem to have all of the recycling bags/bins that we should have, and I am not sure whether we put our stuff in the correct places! Before I contact the council I wanted to check if anyone knows what we should have, I have been on the website, but I can't seem to find anything concise and understandable! Currently we have a large green wheely bin (which we put general non recyclable waste in) and then we have a blue plastic box and another one (which I think may be a dark green) we use these and put anything recyclable in. There seems to be some sign of writing on these boxes, which may have stated at some point what each is for! Also, we are planning to have a big garden clear out so wondered what we are meant to do with garden waste?! I don't want to be labelled an uncaring ED resident! Thanks for your help, Abi
  13. Have you given up on trying to organise anything then Darrell? I work full time, and am studying for an MA and do other voluntary work in two museums so not sure whether I have enough time to take on a massive project like this. But I sure would like to get involved in anyway I could if someone else was in the driving seat! Abi
  14. Hi Skip There is a whole area designated to residential at the beginning of the forum, it seems there are a lot out there though! Abi
  15. What about in the park? Art in the Park? Would this be something that could work? I am sad to hear about venues :( what sort of places did you contact?
  16. Hi there, My name is Abi, I am new to the forum and have been having a little scout around, and found this! I used to live in New Cross, and whilst I was there I helped set up run events for the Young Friends of Telegraph Hill Park...this event came out of no where and with a very limiited budget. We managed to get funding from CCF, and working in conjunction with Glendale who ran the park. It was great, we had a nature day with pond dipping, a teddy bears picnic and lots of sporting events with Millwall Community Team taking part..... This event sounds great and I would really love to get involved....feel free to email me at [email protected]! Abi
