  1. Rye Cabs... V reliable, keen price, used them 3 times in the last few years, all, mostly, early morning starts x
  2. Ok, let's see then. Let us see if it only amounts to 3 x daily 30 minute slots over a 6 month period. Seems that the project is relying on very patient, very tolerant neighbours. James is just looking out for the residents it affects, in my opinion, of course. These projects always overun, and yes it pays to be passive, for the sake of ones mental health, but these contractors do take advantage somewhat. Dialing 101 is a stretch too far though, I must admit!
  3. Money for old rope. In fact I was hoping to find some old rope.
  4. Happening almost every night because of our lively fox community. Who owns you because they seem oblivious to your distress and/or they have access to good sleeping tablets. Anybody know?
  5. Tip of the week aceface! Tip of the week... It's payback time kids!
  6. Hear hear Cora.. I thought Barry, Oz and Neville did a cracking job on the wall Curmudgeon, you live and learn though, I guess.
  7. Ohhh I am not so happy about this then. Came home and found this had happened to the front wall of my house. Recycling day today it was and I found the blue plastic remnants of the offending 'object' that caused this on the top piece of the crumbled stack of bricks. Stuff happens, I get it but the fact that the perpertrator left the bricks all over the pavement just makes me BOIL. It does! What about access to other users of the pavement. No regard whatsoever. Rant over. It's hot.
  8. Yeah but, hold on, why on earth would the OP make the effort to report it on here, whether they had commited an infringement or not. Baffling.
  9. Kindah liquid gold? I am an investor, I am willing to take a punt. Where can I meet this remarkably gifted self motivated prodigy?
  10. This fool actually checked under his bed to check for evidence of a visit by the local cat fraternity..
  11. I used to have a neighbour who would periodically use anybody's bins to save his space, my god it drove me insane... for a good year I dreamt about what I'd love to do to his car... I even thought about getting some smelly old fish and placing it by his air conditioning vents, I also considered, actually, I won't say...anyway as time passed he carried on regardless and I learnt to let it go thinking that what goes around comes around... he continues to do it to this day. I have since moved 3 streets away so out of sight out of mind.. The right answer would be to report it to the local council who will penalise him/them with a fine.
  12. Awestruck, seeing the sky last night, I wanted to scream out of the window that everybody should look! Look at the sequence - it is almost like have the shadow of two tower blocks projected onto the sky, gently moving along. Sinister yet amazing!
  13. Perhaps you are the exception Twirly, most arrive at the pool bone dry!
  14. Wow, me too... I hate to say this but I suspect that a bandage discarded at the bottom of the pool on Monday was still there today.. That said the general repair of the pool and the helpfulness of the staff make it stand out from any of it's nearest neighbours.. I will say one thing though, why is is that not many people.. and most especially our esteemed lady swimmers never take a shower pre swim?..and before I get bombarded - the showers at the side of the pool are usually on more than they are off!!
  15. Alas it wasn't me, but you are Super Under Gran!
  16. @adrianflower which gets updates post big drinking sessions (don't ask!!) and muses on anything to do with photography.. and my business @studio73bv for a more formal offering! :) - edit to say I have started to follow some of other local tweeters c/o this thread, good to keep in touch..
  17. See the problem is (as a Derwent Gr resident and car owner) that even if Melborne is 'out' at the moment - it is business as usual on my street.. there is no particular pattern but I have been monitoring it since this cpz thread started, and there can be spaces along my street at ALL PARTS of the working day, it does happen - more often that not in fact.. Are you mad you pro cpzs's, are you? Without really knowing the true outcome? In my mind you are all locked and blinkered and a wee bit gung ho.. 'Can't get a space in the daytime' Nonsense. Proper nonsense - and here I am right in the 'epicentre' and I can still get a space - Melborne Grove completely restricted to the 'unknowing'. You drive me mad, the lot of you. Yours, Derwent Grove resident.
  18. Penguin for mayor. The issue of muggings is a very moot point, and should be thrown into the mixer that is this very heated debate.
  19. Sounds like a done deal to me James, I am not convinced, not in the slightest! How does the council then justify charging ?125.00 per car per annum, a quick look down Sunday's Derwent Grove, and I can count at least 54 vehicles - let's just say 20% are visitors that leaves 42 cars x ?125.00 = ?5250 revenue plus the additional stream of income from parking fines/clamping. Tidy little sum isn't it, from nothing... The council can't even competently clean/maintain Derwent Grove - it's a rubbish fest! So you don't fill me with any confidence at all that our interests are being put first. All a bit take take from my point of view.
  20. Living on Derwent Grove for four years I have to be extremely honest and say I have not had any real issues parking my car, granted with the odd exception of on a weekday there being no space (i can genuinely count the times on one hand in four years where I had to give up and park in adjacent roads) and the repeat offender who saves his space utilising other peoples bins (not naming names, as much as I would like to). With the greatest of respect to you James Barber it sounds like that your mind is made up and this deeply worries me when you take into consideration the general feeling of the posts on here, and my own personal experience. You need to represent the majority but your wording suggests otherwise, again hugely worrying.
  21. I was just thinking how dirty the streets of Derwent Grove have become since I moved here 5 years a go, where on earth are the street cleaners - I haven't ever seen one (ok I don't go out of my way to try and catch one).. I am hoping that the additional revenue raised from CPZ's (controlled parking zones) will go toward the general upkeep of our streets. End of rant, and the beginning of realisation that my post probably doesn't belong to this thread...
  22. It drives me insane, day after day of estate agent leaflets and letters.. the problem is it must work if they keep persevering.. I mean, I know it is a free market economy but their persistent leafleting just piles up in the recycling, and frankly I do not need reminding of their glossy wealth and success.. leave me alone! In an ideal world I would like to sign up to a petition which then makes it illegal for them to post pamphlets, leaflets, high end magazines through my letterbox.. There must be something that I/we can do??
  23. LOVE the username 'Help-Ma-Boab' I've been saying that for years in a time of crisis and began to wonder whether I really made it up! The Broons? Sorry to go off piste..so help ma boab!
