  1. We have also been happy with the school. My child is in year 9, there was a few settling in issues in year 7 mainly due to anxiety around rules and discipline, but by term 2 this had sorted itself out. Happy with most of their teachers, obviously there are the odd teachers not so happy with!! Also we’ve had a couple of substitutes but for no longer than a term. As a new school the facilities such as science labs and art rooms are very good and we look forward to the last bit of building works being finished hopefully by Dec this year. They are doing well academically, and have been pushed. The school didn’t set a great deal of homework when they started, but for us we liked the gradual build of homework, they certainly get more now they are in year 9. I really also like that it is a local school, so all their friends are in the local area and they can meet up easily out of school. Rather than being scattered around. @mima08 you should have 1 parents evening a year, and all teachers are contactable by email if you have any concerns / questions for them.
  2. From ND Charter website:- The furthest distance we offered a place for our year 7 September 2023 was 921 meters. As of the 1st March 2024 the furthest distance we have offered a place for September 2024 intake is currently at 827m. (So on 1st round offers). ‍
  3. The fact you still own another property, according to their admissions policy this will be seen as the child’s main address. See below.
  4. If this is your only residence, the length of time you have lived there before you apply won’t matter. You may be asked to show a tenancy agreement that is of at least 12 months. They will check council tax records to see if you have any other properties but if your previous property was a rental you can show proof that tenancy ended it will be fine.
  5. The Elephant and Castle leisure centre pool has a steam room and sauna. It’s ok but can get busy and some of the times I’ve been there it’s been out of action.
  6. And a travel lodge in Peckham now.
  7. It was on last night.

There goes all my daughter?s pocket money on the way home from school!!!
  15. Not too sure whether Margaret?s Music do, may worth dropping Margaret an email to double check which ones would be suitable for a 4 year old. Margaret is amazing and teaches music and runs the school choir at my son?s school - highly recommend if she has a suitable class. https://www.margaretsmusicltd.com/book/
  16. Really recommend Liz Chambers https://m.facebook.com/LAMDA-with-Liz-104757521306166/
  17. Don?t know the size of the old Bank but maybe if true will be more like an Ivy Cafe as in Blackheath and Marylebone same as the brasseries but on a smaller scale.
  18. We got in to Charter ED this year and that Gov website has us at 0.6miles which is 0.96km outside the last distance offered so it can?t be correct.
  19. Traid in Peckham collect as well https://www.traid.org.uk/clothes-donations/book-a-collection/
  20. I believe there are still spaces on some of the open mornings for Dog Kennel Hill. Do come along and check it out, it is such a lovely local community school. I personally have had 2 children at the school, my eldest has just moved off to secondary and I have a son in year 4! We especially love the music provision (provided my the wonderful Margaret Omoniyi and her team), brass bands, steel pans, choir, samba drumming and lots of individual lessons available. Also do check out the school?s new onsite Forest School (funded by the Friends of DKH),
  21. It must be after as we didn?t get offered a place in March (offered in May) and live around 810m away.
  22. My daughter had just started in year 7 as well, she is really enjoying it so far. I like that she can walk easily to school, communications from the school seem good, homework not excessive.
  23. Have you seen that a whats app group has been started for new year 7 parents by the Charter friends? If anyone isn?t on it and wants to be added pm me and I?ll pass on to admin of the group.
  24. There is an active Facebook group of local home educators https://www.facebook.com/groups/DulwichHomeEd/?ref=share
  25. Finally heard back from the council - have been informed they will be making offers from the waiting lists over the next few days.
