I visited this shop today and the selection of clothes was great.
Brands like French Connection, Jigsaw, Kookai, Earl Jeans along with vintage stuff. The prices were very reasonable and the staff lovely.
Earlytowers, I hope it was a success for you. Are there any chances it could become a permanent fixture?

I think something must have gone on previously today as the police were apprehending 2 white males armed with wooden sticks/ clubs. Apparently when they were apprehended the 1 of males could be heard saying:
'You weren't around when the 13 black guys jumped us'.
There was alot of scuffling between the officers and the 2 whites, meanwhile a third person male, on moped/scooter/motorcycle was telling his mates to calm down.
Do you think it is time for a neighbourhood watch or the Guardian Angels!

I never knew there was a fancy dress shop!
What about Target Arms? It always makes me laugh - I think of it as an organic gun shop what with it being on Lordship Lane and everything! I have never had the courage to go in though.

Ha Ha Buggie you have me sussed! It is not till next week tho! Plenty of time to work hard in between.
Yes, been to Infernos (my hen do) and I agree it was very cheesy. Dancing with people dressed up as bears etc -very strange. Not sure if they were the clubbers or the staff.
East Dulwich could defo do with somewhere to go and have a dance. Is the room still going behind Kebab and Wine? I've never been brave enough to go in there.

Thanks. Apparently there are some good places for a boogie under the church in Brixton.

I am planning a girls night out next Thursday and we may end up going for a dance later on. Can anyone recommend anywhere local/ localish to East Dulwich please - not The Vale!
Thanks

Just come home after a visit to the new cafe and it is LOVELY.
There is lots of choice of what to have to eat and drink.
The staff are really nice.
It is very spacious and well laid out.
There are lots of high chairs and little toys for little ones.
I did not go into the toilets but one of the girls said they have a nice changing table for the babies with a mobile hanging over it.
We went in after our Powerpramming class and the staff did not mind that there were loads of us with prams.
The hot chocolate and muffins were gorgeous! Look forward to going back again next week.

There is supposed to be a good children's one at St Barnabas in the village. Not sure of times etc but I guess they would be able to tell you if you phone them.
I grew up catholic and that experience has put me off as I never go to church now! Recently I thought my son should know about Jesus so I got him a book from the bookshop on North Cross Road called 'My first Bible Book'. It is really nice. They also do nice bible story books.
Good luck - I hope you find a nice church - I imagine they are much more informal and child friendly these days.

Just wanted to say that the book shop is really good and has a great selection of multi ethnic greeting cards.
I don't work there, I just spotted them. They are so hard to get hold of round here!

Thanks EDDW and Ruffers.

Hello, has anyone been to this new restaurant? Is it any good?
Wedding anniversary coming up and as usual it is me who has to plan where to go! As we have to pay for a babysitter and their cab home we can't really push the boat out too much price wise.
I would be really grateful if anyone could let me know what this place is like as I love Italian food and we spent part of our honeymoon in Italy.
Many thanks.

Whoops. Just read my last post back and that sounded really bad - I had just been reading the post from the piano teacher who hates ED Mums and Mums to be. There are lots of very nice sounding people too. I hope I've not offended anyone.

Yes, I live that end of LL too and agree it could do with a bit of a boost. We do have good old Badger Bakery up here though. Even if we did get an M&S I could not stop going to Badger Bakery!
I agree though with Sallyc, surely M&S would have to consult with the locals if they were going to build there - maybe they will have an underground car park!
Will look up the old thread. I am new to the forum but must admit I am hooked. There are alot of 'haters' round here!!! LOL.

Hello. Does anyone know what is being built on Lordship Lane more or less opposite the big Plough DIY shop? It used to be a car parts place. It has been completely gutted. I asked in the newsagents (the one with the post office at the back) next door to where they are building and they said they had heard a rumour it was going to be a Tesco - bad news for the newsagent.
Does anyone know what it will be yet?
Thanks.

If you want to sell your home and avoid slimey estate agents I would highly recommend using Property Broker. We used them to sell our flat a few years ago. They charge a one off fee (?112 back then) and come round and take lots of pictures and put a board up. You write the description.
Potential buyers get to see the pics and description online. What is great is that the potential buyers contact you direct so they can ask lots of questions etc. This means you do not get loads of people traipsing round your house/ flat just because the agents have brought them there even if the property is not what they are looking for - if you know what I mean.
There is no commission to pay. Once you get an offer you do the rest yourself just as you would if you were selling through an agent.
Their website is www.property-broker.co.uk
Sorry this is not a rant about Foxtons - I cannot stand agents so do my best to avoid them! I have seen the Putney office though and yes, it does look very posh from the outside!
