hello LV0210 I would love to show you a Thermomix in action. it's absolutely no obligation and you definitely have to see it and use it to understand how it can help you. Thanks Peckhamrye and Siduhe. Please email me on [email protected] Corinne Thermiechef

I use a carer from a company called Hometouch. www.myhometouch.co.uk. The only problem is you do not have back up if they are sick or on holiday. A more (expensive) reliable option is Mihomecare, used by Southwark Council but do private contracts. If you have any luck with another individual/company do share!

Jules. I have come across the same problems. I care for my disabled sister. Her Southwark council flat is freezing, so much so you can see your breath. Old large windows that are rotten and bang in the wind, not insulated, not secure, so we drilled and screwed them locked. I have tried through her social worker under the Southwark Council Safer Warmer scheme but was adamatly met with blank looks every time, and no action. I even wrote to the head of Southwark Council - nothing. I have found that no one is willing to look at an individual case and recommend improvements. However painting. etc to the exterior of houses along the street has been done. It is more than shocking that vulnerable residents are living like this. My sister spends most of her time in bed under several duvets, it is too risky for her to have an electric blanket or a hot water bottle. The cost of her gas and electricity bills are a constant stressful worry and she cannot meet payments to heat her home and I have to help financially. She is considering moving into shared sheltered housing for this very reason. Totally unacceptable, and very frustrating. If you do get anywhere could you let me know.

toptotty replied to OD's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Thank you LozzyLoz. I would be delighted to help OD. I am a Leith's school of food and wine trained chef and have been established working locally and in the City for 18years. Corinne www.thymeandplace.co.uk Twitter chefthymeplace -

Gutter cleaning - what's the usual cost?
toptotty replied to dreamaholic's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Several people have DM me asking for my window cleaners number who cleans gutters at a reasonable price, I have replied to all, but for those of you still messaging me. His name is David Stone 07714114283 hope this helps -
I am a chef of 18 years and Lethams is a top end supplier. Based in SE London it is probably hard to recruit for specialist positions. Good initiative going on the excellent EDF I would say.

I love a good ending to a story. Feel a tad eggmotional. -
Boiler or Megaflow advice/recommendations
toptotty replied to devsdev's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Dev I am no expert, but have been researching the same problem. Old boiler, lack of water pressure, 4 bed, 2 bath. I have decided to spend the extra and go for megaflow as I will have no pressure issues and instantaneous hot water. If I was looking at selling the house I am told is what houses this size now have. If you go down the boiler route do your research, there are boilers and there are boilers. I am now saving up! Mega flow is a vented system that requires certification so I am told. -
Gutter cleaning - what's the usual cost?
toptotty replied to dreamaholic's topic in Request a Tradesperson
I live in a big 3 storey house with lots of trees, so lots of gutter gunk. I always pay my window Cleaner ?60 to clean all gutters on the 3 levels. Happy to pass his details on to anyone. He's been doing it for 15yrs! -
Thanks LadyDeliah. If only. Too late now, they have asked. But great advice.

Thank you EDAus. Thank you Sue.

Thank you AZH. ACAS have been very helpful but can only offer 'general advice' the person needs more specific help. It must be out there!

Recommendations needed please for urgent specialist employment advice for an employee. Tried CAB, Southwark Law Centre but referrals are non existent and advice needs to be more specific - are there any solicitors that offer free advice locally, or anywhere. Days have been spent trawling the internet. Thank you.

Begging Bowl is nice, serves well cooked fresh food but crowded, quick and pricey. Why don't you go to Brixton Village, a few beers at the craft beer co, dumplings at Mama Lans and then a Thai at Kao Sarn, you can book and it's BYO. A great fun evening out too.

I have had two Thai Yoga and Auryvedic massages with Stephen now. I find the stretching massage techniques just what my ache ridden shoulders and back needed. I too had the best nights sleep for as long as I remember, certainly one of the best massages I have had for a very long time. I thoroughly recommend Stephen, and a friend has been since too.

B&B/ flat rental need for grandparents!
toptotty replied to sianabanana's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Hi, When I was having subsidence work done on our house we stayed in the Goodwood Hotel, Copers Cope Road, Beckenham. Its okay for the price, clean and large spacious bedrooms but not bathrooms, on the first floor. freshly cooked to order breakfast. Ignore the negativity on Trip Advisor. Go and see it yourself. Its actually not that far away and a 2min walk to the rail station by Waitrose. -
Floor sanding company- not recommended
toptotty replied to on_the_hill's topic in Request a Tradesperson
I have used Tom Buchanan of Toms Wood Floors three times 07815 807872. He does get very busy but he is nice and an expert. It may be worth giving him a try - he will tell you if your gaps need filling - he filled mine, without me even getting involved. -
On the above recommendations I used 123 Chimney Sweeps this morning. Alan was punctual, pleasant, clean and tidy and did a thorough job, pointing out crumbling mortar and gave useful advice as well as an accredited certificate. A good company. I would recommend and use again.
