  1. Plenty of people in plenty of industries have to work Boxing Day or over the festive period. If you're earning upwards of ?45k for what is essentially an unskilled job, then I fail to see what makes you so special a case. You go into it knowing that you will have to work some public holidays, it can hardly be a surprise. Do Tube drivers et al deserve time with their families at Xmas? Yes. But then do what I and many others do and use holiday entitlement for this period. My colleagues and I are on call over this period and despite never having had a callout in the last 5 years, I still banked up a few days to make sure that my time was undisturbed. What is really sickening is that it is the vast majority who suffer due to the tiny minority who had the gall to paint themselves as the victims and you get people like Malumbu defending them like we are back in the dark ages and live in a serfdom. Hopefully TFL will have the stones to follow through on their warning and sack those who strike as this seems to be what the man and woman in the street wants.

Put them off from what exactly? Heading towards Camberwell? To Forest Hill? Going about their business? Perhaps it will put us off commuting from East Dulwich station to London Bridge as you now need to leave 20 minutes earlier if you get the bus from further up Lordship Lane due to the congestion caused by the traffic calming measures. Causing congestion adds to pollution levels so the payoff for those who couldn't be bothered to use the crossings we all ready had is to add significantly to the pollution their cherubs inhale. Lordship Lane is, and always has been, a main road. You might as well hope to put motorists off using the South Circular. I was asked to sign a petition recently for a crossing on East Dulwich Road at the junction of LL as it is "more dangerous now". When I pointed out that the new crossing on the Lane at this point has caused this problem, you'd have though I was speaking in Chinese.
  3. Belvoir Road / Belvoir Lodge has been giving the PO problems for the 20 years that I've lived here. Last summer I took a bundle of birthday cards round to the corresponding address in Belvoir Road.....
  4. I took your lead that effectively any time after sun up goes. 5. Erm, as their parent this is surely your problem as you have chosen to be a parent as opposed to, say, a neighbour who hasn't? 6. You're clearly more understanding of these things than I am, Chippy. See you for band practice outside your bedroom window at 5:00am then.
  7. Nope, at the weekend that is early in the morning and anti-social in the extreme. 8. I'd far rather put up with some noise during the daytime, than the racket my neighbours and their child make at 7:30am every Saturday and Sunday morning - without fail. That has a far greater effect and the quality of my R&R come Monday morning.

  12. I can't think of another stretch of road with so many crossing points crammed into such a short space, even in places like the Kings Road which are shopping meccas. I know that the Lane is very busy at the weekends but still.... I was behind an ambulance earlier that was trying to get through to Kings and it kept having to slow right down for the speed tables and jiggle through our new road pinches, on a blue light run. Presumably the people who want this level of traffic 'calming' are those that are up in arms when the emeregency services can't keep to their arrival times. Stop the world please, I think I want to get off :'(
  13. So, we are saying that between North Cross Road and the Goose Green roundabout we really need 4 crossings? In approximately a tenth of a mile? Or 7 in the half mile stretch between the Police station and East Dulwich Station? And then there is talk of skimming the GG roundabout to make transit through it quicker, which would contradict all of the above and our 2 new speed tables?

Surely our rampant benefits system already ensures that they have no need of these rewards as everything is laid out free on a plate from the get go and paid for by you and I? Sorry, but the way things are going, zero tolerance is looking like the only way forward and if that means my taxes are spent on building more jails, then at least I know they are not being wasted for a change.
