  1. I am posting this message as a favor for Maureen, who runs the one o'clock club. The One O'clock will be closed from the 29th for a small break, and will re-open on the 2nd September for a pre-back to school FUN DAY. The fun day will hold some stalls and bouncy castle. This is the raise more funds for the club as council funding is no longer available. Any one can have a stall/table to sell at the fun day, so if you are interested either talk to maureen before hand or just turn up on the morning to set up (9am). A great chance to re-cycle old clothes, toys etc and make a little money! A contribution of ?5 to have a pitch. Tables can be provided. Also, if anyone has any toys, books, garden toys or anything play related that you no longer use and in reasonable condition, please consider kindly donating them to the one o'clock club, as funding is thin on the ground (this is more of a ongoing request, a opposed to the fun day). The One o'clock club is also looking to find ways of raising funds for the long term, and as a community playgroup is looking for ideas or suggestions that they could consider from the local community. So if you have any thoughts or ideas, please chat to maureen, as i am sure she will appreciate any support from the community and users of the club. One suggestion was to have a table top sale/ bootsale type thing (poss on a weekend morn or something...any views?) Back to School FUN DAY on friday 2nd Sept 10am - 3pm
  2. Community wardens who tap on your car window whilst you are sitting in very sloooow moving traffic with a sleeping baby in the back...to inform you that....."you need to look pay more attention to puddles on the road, you splashed me now i have water on my shoes"...before walking off, just as my blood had reached boling point and i was about the unleash a sorts of nasties from my mouth!!! FYI Community warden (of peckham rye) i was looking at the road ahead, as is the norm whilst driving. And the last time i checked...splashing puddles is not a traffic offence or a crime!!! I hope it is lashing with rain the next time i drive by!!!!
  3. yes, your sooooooooo right, they must earn a fortune!!! A cut there, would make such an impact!! Honestly..get a life people!
  4. what a sorry, sad and pathetic thing to get angry about. Get a sodding life 'jack bauer' (your not). Angry about lollipop men....whatever next! Idiots like you make me angry....!
  5. I brought a wonderful ski suit at Decathlon at the weekend (there is a huge store in bermondsey) for my 21 month old. I got her age 2 and it fits her perfectly, and obviously very practical. It cost ?18, they also sell snow boots for little ones at ?6 !! You can reserve online, and collect if you can get down there.
  6. A small price to pay for the atmosphere and excitment it must create for children!! I am sooooo looking forward saturday evening, when i shall be going....gleefully waving an overprice glowstick and stuffing my face with candy floss, watching the happiness or horror on my darling childs face ( its her 1st circus!). Glad to see your some what chilled Pearson!!! Although, i did wonder if you were wathching that fantastic program on BBC4 the other night (sunday)? Right up your street, i thought ('My Big Fat Gipsy Wedding')...makes for great watching.!;-)
  7. If your so bored Pearsons...here's a suggestion...buy yourself a ringside ticket, some candy floss and a overprice glow stick and go watch the budgies doing acrobates at the circus! Happy days (tu)
  8. Very well put, SeanMacGabhann! I have wanted to say somthing along those lines, but would not have put it as eloquently as you! Exactly my thoughts also!.

    Zippos Circus ..

Again DJKillaQueen, i could'nt agree with you more! That kind ignorant stereotyping should definatley be binned!!
  10. hear hear, DJKillaQueen, i couldnt agree more.
  11. A very well deliverd piece...not sure i seen "pikies" on that list!!! Is that not how you described 'them' in the zippo circus thread? Not sure you'd find that description in haringey councils information on Gypsies. My point really is that you have a very negative and narrow view of circus professionals...as if in their spare time, all they can do is knock on the door of local residents to sell dish cloths or rob them! I have spotted your zippo circus remarks in 3 threads. I have never really felt compelled to get to involved with threads, but your comments are incredibly predjudice, and more so, slanderous. Get over it, the circus is just a circus...not a den of artful dodgers, dasterdly faggins, armed robbers or harber women you need to cross palms with silver coins. It has budgies and ponies....or is that mearly facade? Talk about killjoy.

Of course....all gypsie hail from the circus!!! What era are you living in...dickensian, it seems?
  13. i like the goose green round about....its pretty!:))
  14. Beckenham spa has a fantastic soft play zone and a seating area with a small cafe for the grown ups to sit and watch ( or sip a latte or two)!!
  15. I have 2 cats and had the same worries as you. I brought a canopy mosquito net from ikea ( about ?15 ), to put over my baby cot. It is very practical as it covers the cot right down to the floor, it is white and made from very light netting. My daughter is now 18 months and it is still up! It looks very pretty and does the job of detering the cats on the odd occasion they might have thought about bedding down. We do not allow the the cats in to the bed room, but have it more for piece of mind, aswell as pretty decoration!! It looks much better than the small nets that are ment to be 'cat nets'!!
  16. I took my baby daughter to the baby massage classes at the therapy rooms (above the health matters shop) on lordship lane. It was lovely and intimate. My daughter who was about the same age at the time really enjoyed it, aswell as myself. It has a lovely bonding feel to it, and everytime we left she fell asleep instantly ( which was a nice time to grab a coffee). The lady that runs it is such a nice woman ( have forgotten her name), but she is also a trained midwife and offers helpful advice and tips. Highly recommend!
