  1. Can you clarify if Denmark Hill station itself is closed or just the road as it’s unclear. Thanks in advance.
  2. This is news to me. Can someone confirm this as I often stand in the 1st class carriage instead of sitting (because it?s so packed in the morning) cos I thought you?d get fined.
  3. My original point on this one is not all independents in ED are amazing with the exception of Kanella and Bon (and maybe I?ve missed one or two). Old Spike in Peckham good too. And I still maintain some take the mick with minuscule cups, sub-par barista skills and stale pastries. That was my point about some of them upping their game. Some think a coffee shop is just a license to print money and haven?t even got the basics right. I?d love to name them but it isn?t fair. Agree, not every drink from different Prets will be perfect either. But at least they have decent cup sizes, fresh pastries and are happy to re-do your drink if you think it?s too hot/not right. I just don?t think ALL independents in ED automatically warrant loyalty for those reasons, that?s all.
  4. Looks like there was an accident yesterday. So really needs to be looked into before there is a fatality.
  5. Absolutely agree. I?d often get a free drink from Pret too. As I said in my earlier post, if a lot of independents upped their game and didn?t charge the earth for a tiny cup size I?d be more supportive. Why can?t a lot of them get normal(12oz)cup sizes? That?s my frustration with them. ?3+ for an 8oz coffee or hot chocolate? No thanks!
  6. I have to say I like Pret cos they are reliable. You get a decent 12oz cup and pastries that are cooked fresh daily. I try and support independents but when they only have tiny cup sizes/portions at extortionate prices, steamed milk that?s sub par (often burnt and not creamy with micro foam) and sometimes stale pastries (that are a day or two old), it puts me off going. Obviously this isn?t the case for all independents (I?d say Kanella and Bon are always consistently good) but from trying every coffee place in East Dulwich I?d say I experienced this in 50% of them.
  7. Another pic so you see it?s next to Shaun?s DIY shop. I was always a fan of their pastries so have to admit I?m quite excited as I?ve missed them during the pandemic. :)
  8. The Pret is going to be opposite East Dulwich Station on Grove Vale, occupying the old William Hill premises. Looks like they are hiring.
  9. Keys found at the corner of Melbourne Grove and East Dulwich Grove. Please message if you recognise them.
  10. I received a few scraps of mail an hour ago. One postmarked on Dec 2 and another Dec 13. I know there is a huge chunk missing from friends and family posted in December though. I imagine there is a huge mountain to get through and they are just grabbing random handfuls as there seems to be no correlation to dates. I don?t understand why the temps weren?t kept on to get through the backlog as I expect to be receiving mail posted during December well into 2022.
  11. I?ll write to Helen Hayes about it too. I think it?s a fair comment to say no one is bothering about it. Including Royal Mail and the politicians as it?s still happening and it?s hardly getting any press/national attention is it?
  12. Completely agree Tomskip. I think it?s awful when children?s birthday cards are late and obviously there are more critical items that people in this area are getting later then expected. It?s terrible when senders have paid for a certain level or service and recipients are getting post weeks late. And as mentioned in my case, Royal Mail deliberately lied and logged my item as being delivered weeks before it was. And this is to either remain within their quota/targets or avoid compensation. In either case it?s disgusting. And no one seems to be bothering about our area suffering from this awful service.
  13. Yeah it?s been going on in this area since they closed the sorting office. /forum/read.php?5,2228764 I got a parcel that was 3-4 weeks late and was meant to be delivered by the 9th of Sept. Disgracefully when it was delivered on Sept 28, the Royal Mail parcel tracker updated and it said it was delivered on Sept 8 which is a complete falsehood. They obviously put this false date to keep within their quota. I have proof it was delivered on the 28th too. Not sure who I can report this to. I did message James McAsh but I?m not sure he?s got much traction or been effective in helping with this issue where people in this area are getting their post weeks late.
  14. Hi James, I just received a package that was posted nearly four weeks ago and another item from nearly two weeks ago. I?m on Melbourne Grove and saw two young posties I didn?t recognise that have probably brought in to get rid of a backlog/pile of post. The thing is the online Royal Mail tracker updated after it was delivered but the delivery date it states is Sept 8 (when it should have arrived) but this is obviously false as it was just delivered today. Surely this should be investigated as it is a deliberate mistruth?
  15. Attaching a photo of the inside - as you can see it?s a huge space!
  16. It was so loud, circling around for ages. (I?m on Melbourne Grove). Woke me up!
  17. James Barber was always diligent replying to messages on here and was often visible in my area (Melbourne Grove). He always replied back to me on the Forum and worked hard for the community. I?m not affiliated with any particular party btw but I think his hard work and dedication shouldn?t be forgotten(you should look back at his posts if you don?t believe me).
  18. I tried calling as soon as I opened the letter (the name was obscured by the envelope window) and the automated message said there was no one at that number until Monday. Just don?t want the person to go to an appointment which has changed.
  19. I have an urgent letter for you that wrongly has my address on it from your hospital. Please pm me if you are or know this gentleman. Kate.
  20. Yup, the app is usually correct. I?ve checked and no trains from ED to London Bridge this weekend. Looks like no overground from Peckham to Clapham Junction either. I usually go to Denmark Hill and make my way to London Victoria when this happens or Herne Hill into central London, as I find the a Rail Replacement fairly unreliable - plus it can take ages!
  21. I agree the thread should come back to asking about recommendations about Timber Windows in Forest Hill and think you should begin a new thread just on this. And whilst requesting these, you shouldn't really make defamatory claims about another company (which originally you said you weren't even sure if it was them) when you are not even their client so may not know the full circumstances of the work being carried out (it could be the building work holding things up, or maybe additional brickwork/stonework is being worked on) and how satisfied your neighbour is. You are speaking on their behalf. You haven't substantiated any of these harmful claims on this thread or by Private Message with pictures or your street details (by PM) so that SJB can at least give some context (if it is even them). I had a really good experience of SJB and have pics and details to share if needed and 'am always happy to be messaged so people can visit to see their work.
