  1. I don?t think people are ganging up on him for no reason. I am sorry he is ill but he did voice some incorrect assumptions that could have been very damaging to a business. I think some people just want him to say a simple ?sorry?. That?s all. 3. Regarding Sundial - as I couldn't tell what services they offered because their site is under construction, an agent contacted me to confirm that they do not in fact replace new windows (see below). I only contacted them in the interests of fairness regarding Costeve's earlier comments. After six quotes and two refusals I have found the quote provided by Paul at SJB Sash Windows to be the most competitive, also he has impressed me the most with his professionalism and knowledge (he is always contactable and courteous plus was a craftsman and fitter prior to doing house visits). "Thanks for your enquiry and interest in our company. Unfortunately, this is not the type of work we do. We refurbish and restore mainly Victorian windows, rather than replace. Thanks again - Steve Carter. ". Thanks all.
  4. We used this company and they did a great job. They have won awards and have great reviews. https://www.southlondonheating.co.uk/ PM me if you want to see the work they did in person.

I wasn't criticising Sundial's website - I just simply stated that I couldn't tell exactly what services they offered as it was still under construction. So as a result can't view a gallery of work or testimonials or anything else that may help when making an informed decision. Regarding the company I have chosen to use, they are impressive because of the examples I have visited in person and the professionalism of their agents - btw they are based in Carshalton. Also the quotes I got from local joiners were more than double (and in one case triple) SJB's quotes. I would add that you probably meant "because" or "cos" rather than "cause", "allowed" rather than "aloud" and "expensive" rather than "expansive". Also not sure if where you stated 'people like me are so "tick", you actually meant that people like me are so "thick"? ;)
  6. Sue - please delete your inbox messages as I've been trying to message you. x
  7. Thanks overcaffeinated for the recommendation - looks like they just do refurbs though and I need completely new windows. Difficult to tell though as their site is under construction. http://www.sundialps.co.uk/ Have been in touch with Paul at SJB Sash Windows Specialist Ltd and visited their work and think I'll go with them tbh as they also have the best price from four others I've tried and the people I visited only had good things to say about them. https://sjbsashwindows.co.uk
  8. Hi Sue, tried PMing you but it says your mail storage box is full!
  9. Hi there, I'm looking to replace some of my single pane Victorian sash windows as they are beyond repair and unsafe now I have a new baby. Has anyone got good recommendations for companies that supply really attractive Victorian-style timber windows and fit them really well? *I know it may sound obvious about fitting, but you'd be surprised at how some workpeople can put them in badly and not properly fill the gaps - or they are incorrectly measured meaning the pane can crack. Any help and pics would really be beneficial. If anyone wants to PM that would be super. Thanks.
  10. ... and back to Mr Liu! Some photos of the exterior and interior. It looks like the tablecloths have gone and it now has new flooring and decor. I'm keen to know if any other regulars have tried the food and if it's the same/better/worse? https://www.mrliu.co.uk/
  11. This is the company that has a showroom opening on Grove Vale: https://kuchenuk.com/
  12. Even though it's just a door or so down from Dulwich Design Kitchens, I've heard it is going to be another kitchen shop.
  13. Loads of police arrived to arrest what looked like three youths at the front of a house on Melbourne Grove near to the Jarvis Road end at about 4.30pm. Police even got out their taser guns but don?t think they used them. Not sure if the youths got into the property from the back of the new school but the houses with the garden backing on to the school may be more vulnerable now?
  14. Poor Jarvis Road. It seems that it has been dug up and re-laid every few weeks for the last two years as the work is constant. Not sure if it?s to do with the pavement/Thames Water/energy suppliers or nearby school build though?

  16. The mural looks fantastic! I?m just worrried that it will get defaced and ruined with other people?s rubbish tags and scrawls. Are there plans to put some sort of protection or possibly a clear perspex covering over it?
  17. When I asked a P13 driver, he said that Dog Kennel Hill was too dangerous to drive up for buses until gritted.
  18. Don?t believe the dot matrix outside East Dulwich. Only buses that have stopped have been the P13. I waited 30 mins and no buses to Denmark Hill.
  19. I don?t want to go off topic but feel I have to defend Mark & Son, who have always been friendly and polite in my experience. And no, I don?t work there before anyone gets suspicious!
  20. It was an in-train announcement from the driver. I was actually seated on the train - so don't know if there were any announcements on the loudspeakers. I was on the carriage nearest the station gates and I only heard the driver say the train wasn't stopping at Denmark Hill once. He did mumble it a bit (plus he was very softly spoken) and didn't make a huge loud announcement of it. Obviously a better way of doing it would have been to bellow it and repeat it - not just say it once in a listless manner.
  21. Hi DulwichLondoner, I too was on that same train. There were two announcements from the driver - one was about waiting for a conductor and the incident at Herne Hill, then a later one mentioned the train wasn't stopping at Denmark Hill. I have to say I did strain to hear him as he was very quietly spoken and I was lucky that my carriage was very quiet, otherwise I would have missed it. The other frustrating element to this is that initially on the National Rail app both the 19.34 and 19.39 were showing as delayed and then later it showed Denmark Hill as cancelled (although I wasn't sure how correct this was as nothing had been said on the train). The 19.39 to Gillingham was actually right next to the 19.34 on platform 6 and that one departed a few mins late but DID stop at Denmark Hill - so I would have got on that one had I known. The driver's announcement only came AFTER the 19.39 had departed but it did show as cancelled on the app before his announcement, so people could have got on the train from platform 6. I counted four guards huddled by the gates by both trains and it wouldn't have hurt them to go that extra mile and let people on platform 7 know that the train wasn't stopping at Denmark Hill and that they could get the one on platform 6. Victoria is hellish enough at the best of times and I always think the staff/mgt there could do a bit more sometimes (helping people who are obviously struggling with their heavy cases down the stairs etc). I've also got on trains that were meant to have stopped at Denmark Hill but must have been changed at the last moment and because I've boarded with moments to spare I've missed the driver's announcement.
  22. They must have meant Glamorous Nails on Grove Vale.
  23. A good turn out from locals (as well as friends) for AJ and family this lunchtime. As you can see from the picture it was an emotional farewell. They will be missed, but they they told me they are happy the nail bar on Elsie Road is taking over the premises as they need extra space to expand and include a spa area.
