  1. I have been receiving all my packages lately, albeit one or two days late sometimes. I did have problems with two items that I posted in the Goodrich Road mailbox (near the school) three weeks ago - neither has reached its destination yet.
  2. I just had Southern Electric at the door. Mr Sunil Sharma, district manager. He said he was the local supplier and wasn't selling anything (but the coloured A4 prints in his folder implied otherwise). I said I wanted to do some research first so I gave him my first name and phone number and told him to call back next week... I shouldn't have even given him my number of course. I obviously didn't let him take any meter readings or get into the flat or anything else.
  3. Thanks guys. So the lists they find your name on is like a guest list at a club (not that I'm ever on guest lists or go to clubs) and not a fancy electronic system. Ah well, all the less likely to crash.
  4. Apologies, one more question about the election. Do you have to vote at your own polling station? I didn't receive my polling card and have now understood that I can vote anyway (with id etc) but my "own" polling station is not on my way home from work whereas another one in ED is (yes I am lazy). For those that voted without a polling card or those that just Know: can you go to another polling station in your area? Sorry, boring question.
  5. I did get all my other election related post (the booklet, the confirmation of names on the electoral register) but didn't get a polling card. Did this happen to anyone else? Can we still vote, e.g. with a proof of id and proof of address?
  6. I didn't get a polling card (ED Royal Mail being funny again?) whereas I did receive all the other election related post... so it's good to know where the polling stations are. By the way... can I vote without a polling card? I do have id and proof of address with me and plan to go after work....
  7. Thanks Sean and everyone else for your replies - this definitely sounds interesting. And Mark, yes, would love to join your (and Sean's/Mark's) table together with Mr Crepe. I posted a similar message on the What's On board - not sure if you'd come back to this thread. Thanks for the invitation! Will buy the tickets tonight.
  8. It's a nice street and has great access to both Lordship Lane and Bellenden Road but parts of it get quite busy with traffic cutting through the neighbourhood to get from one main road to another. I noticed it when viewing a flat there once. Check it out around rush hour and see if your part of the street is affected. Since the road is quite close to the houses you might really hear the traffic.
  9. Dulwich park, followed by a drink outside at Crown and Greyhound (be careful not to order the Sunday roast!) The greengrocer on North Cross road (quality, speed, staff, price) A lunchtime drink (and meal) while reading the paper in the Bishop, for the atmosphere and the staff View of Canary Wharf while walking down Landells road Overall residential architecture
  10. Wondering if the comedy night in EDT is any good - do they still do it on Wednesdays? What kind of performances have you seen and how entertaining were they? Will go and have a look myself soon but am curious to hear your opinions in the meantime.
  11. Does anyone know if you can use the new gym on LL for single sessions (just weights/cardio without a trainer)? I think the monthly fees are rather steep and would probably only go there once a week. Would therefore rather pay per session than per month...
