  1. Another massive recommendation for Ben who just completed some snagging jobs for me at home. He contacted me straight away, came over promptly, was lovely and helpful, quick, very reasonably priced and even came back to finish a job that couldn't be done there and then, without charging me more. I have saved his number and may move it to speed dial. 07743131461.
  2. Hello, I know this is a bit random but I wanted to post a message about Signoria on Lordship Lane, the new (ish) Italian cafe/restaurant opposite the French House. I used to live in Italy and really miss no-frills, well-priced, decent, Italian cooking but this is it (Il Mirto's is also really good but more for the evening). The owner,Maurizio, is Italian and really accommodating. The chefs are Italian so the pasta is perfectly cooked and having been in a couple of times, this is my new favourite place to take the kids for lunch or get some work done while not spending an arm and a leg. The coffee is also really good and there is free WiFi. Fyi. I just wanted to share as not many people seem to know about the place/have tried it. Thanks a lot, D
  3. I cannot recommend Sam highly enough. He did an amazing job rebuilding my shower including a new stud wall, tiling, re-sealing and the new shower fitted by his excellent plumber, James. Really reasonable prices, super quick and communicative. I will most definitely be using him again. Daisy
  4. Hello, I am a writer, journalist and freelance producer and am planning an article about paternal postnatal depression. It will explore the experience of the father, the effect on the family unit, ways of coping and where to find support. I feel this is a hugely unexplored topic in the national press and that many families would greatly benefit by knowing more about it. As well as speaking to healthcare professionals for the article, I am also looking to speak to fathers who have suffered with, or are still suffering with, postnatal depression. The overall aim of the article is to explore this subject sensitively and compassionately and to provide a better understanding for families going through it. I realise this is a profoundly sensitive subject and one that is often very difficult to discuss. If you might be happy to talk to me, or would like to know any more about the piece, then please do get in touch. Anything discussed will be treated with the utmost sensitivity. Thanks very much, All the best, Daisy
  5. Here is a good cleaner with more hours available should you need someone: Graciele, 07415894587. I have been using Graciele for a few weeks while my usual cleaner is away and she's been great. Her English is pretty basic but she's really flexible, thorough and lovely as well. She currently cleans in Forest Hill, East Dulwich, Clapham and Angel. Daisy
  6. Another recommendation for Darren. He went to my tenanted flat on an emergency job and even went past the estate agents to get the keys. From calling to sorting was a couple of hours. Really lovely and very reasonable. No call out charge. 07538723971
  7. I cannot second this recommendation highly enough. Based on the comments above, I booked Rafal to build two two alcove cabinets with shelves, return edges and skirting in the living room. Bearing in mind my husband is a carpenter (too busy at work to do this job) the expectations were high. Rafal has done the most incredible job and at the most reasonable price I could have found. Rafal from RWL Carpentry (www.rwlcarpentry.co.uk) Truly amazing. Daisy
  8. Sev just decorated my front room. He was super fast, absolutely lovely and very reasonable. Very nice man and highly recommend
  9. Hi there Tascha, Not sure if you have found someone for this yet, but if not drop me a line - [email protected] (I'm logged into my wife's account here) - should be a fairly straight forward job if your table is real wood. Slightly trickier if it's chipboard and veneer as matching the veneer is not always possible - but it still might be feasible. Anyway, let me know if you still need help with it. Best Richard
  10. Also want to add my name to the Terry appreciation society. I called him on Monday morning about a leak and he fixed it that day plus had a look at a couple of other niggling jobs which he fixed on the spot. Have booked him to come back and do the other snagging list items. Very reasonable prices too. Extremely happy to have found someone so good and so local. Daisy
  11. Hi there, I'm a little late to this, but if you haven't found anyone yet or are not satisfied with their proposed costs then I would be happy to take a look at this for you. My name is Richard Bailey and I've done quite a few jobs across Dulwich over the years - there may be existing feedback on the forum for me already. I'm logged into my wife's account at the moment, so if you wanted to get in touch I'm on [email protected] Hope to hear back from you. Richard
  12. I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who commented here. All your thoughts and suggestions are very welcome and very helpful. I have managed to find a lovely childminder who can be flexible with the days I need (up to 3 days a week) with my parents also looking after my little boy on the other days. I agree that continuity is key and it seems that we will have that. All the best, Daisy
  13. Hello, I am a freelance TV Producer with a 1 month old son. I am planning on going back to work in late September for 10 weeks and am looking into childcare options for my little boy who will be almost 6 months by then. I will need someone between 3-5 days a week from around 9.00 am to 5 pm. It's quite possible that I will need the same childcare again after Christmas but I'm looking for flexibility at first as I work on a contract basis. If this is something that might suit you, please do get in touch. Thanks a lot, Daisy
  14. Hello, I am hoping to find some help and information about what options may be available for flexible childcare locally. I have a one month old little boy and work in TV. I'm planning on going back to work later this year and will have family help for 2 days a week. For the remaining 3 days I'm planning on looking for a childminder or nanny share. The issue is that being freelance, when my contract finishes, I will want to suspend childcare for all or some of those 3 days but I know this usually means losing your place at nursery/the childminder. I know quite a few people in East Dulwich work in the media and I was wondering if there was any advice/thoughts on how the work/childcare balance can work for the self employed. Thanks very much, Daisy
