  1. I would love schools to share more of their facilities. Both state and private. Primary and secondary. The sharing economy is growing with Airbnb, Uber, Lyft, EatWith etc? The sports fields of schools seem an area ripe for this. Not sure how the private schools would see it as a economic benefit to themselves unless the state schools had the funds to pay for the usage?. Maybe their charitable status could/should be taken away if they didn?t learn how to share. My daughter uses Alleyns sports field once a year for her state school?s sports day. I would happily pay a sports sub for her to do more sport ? if she could run around in a field more. I know this isn?t an option every parent can afford. Maybe something the PTAs could fund raise for? This is an article about Thomson House in Richmond a new free school ? that have access to the Harrodian School?s sports grounds as well as their gifted and talented programme. http://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/local/10703933.New_free_school_in_Mortlake_opens/
  2. My children are in Heber and love it. However catchment is very small though. You will need to consider this when moving. Might be easier to rent in catchment than buy.
  3. Balham glass and joinery. They did a great job. Looks like a door from london door company, but fraction of the price.
  4. Thanks for your comments, my little girl received a shiny pound coin and has a suitable gappy smile :) In my research on the going rate - I came across a child who received a packet of chicken flavoured crisps. The tooth fairy had no change and improvised.
  5. My daughter has lost her first tooth today! Can anyone help please? What's the current rate paid by the tooth fairy in East Dulwich? I was thinking a pound?

  7. Love the idea! Was having a similar converstaion with hubby about the need for one and also thought the forest hill wetherspoons should be returned to it's former glory. However would prefer it to be in ED! As well as mainsteam/indie/foregin language films... how about a kid screenings (maybe Disney classics or sound of music type movies - wholesome fun!) or mums/dads and babies screenings (with more adult movies for parents grieving the lost of their social lives since babies have come along. These sessions could be in the mornings to make more use of the space and for something to do with kids when the weather is dodgey or when parents need to chill out with popcorn or catch up on sleep:)-D
  8. That's good to know - so it's not impossible to return! Maybe I can sleep more easy at night now. Thanks everyone :)
  9. Thank you all for your help. Will speak with the head and go from there.
  10. Has any parent on the forum taken a child out of a local primary school and been able to return their child to the same school a few yrs later? We have the opportunity with my husbands work to live overseas for a few yrs.... and this would be a fantastic opportunity experience for us all. When we return our second child will be of primary school age. Do we go back on to a waiting list (for the first child) once we have given up their place? Is it a head teacher or a southwark education dept issue? On our return, if my second child gets a place at the school will my first child get a sibling place automatically? Sorry about all the questions.... schooling seemed so much easier when I was a child in the 70s. Kids seemed to come and go! Any advice would be most welcomed, I'm not sure where to start with all this.
  11. The programme 'Empty houses' on last week on claims it's going to be social housing - but not sure when! See link http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0197bf7/Britains_Empty_Homes_Series_3_Andy_Erlam/
