Often, when people talk about 'difficulty parking' they're just dropping the silent '...directly outside my house' part. Some peeps are very territorial about parking spaces, which is why it's always quite an emotive subject.

Does any primary school in the area have designated parking? I would think it ridiculous for the school to use part of the site to provide a car park. The constant calls for more parking provision as a response to too many cars always astounds me. I never understand why Southwark insist on new flats providing off street parking. You build car parks and more people will drive. That's what happens. Who wants more cars, more congestion? If people have to park a couple of streets away and walk a couple of minutes, then that's what they'll have to do - or else they'll find an alternative mode of transport.

Does anyone know whether this is, or is not the case? It seems crazy that local residents should get no say in whether or not a drop kerb is granted permission. Surely the council can't just hand over control of a section of the public roadway, to a private household, without consultation?

I went past the soon-to-be sushi place on LL yesterday. It's not Tsunami as rumoured. They had a web address up which I've now completely forgotten. Anyone know what it's called (would like to Google it). Ta.

So it doesn't matter what a building looks like. We should allow anything to be built as long as it's safe and functional? What a depressing world you'd have us all live in.

Of course you care more for you child than the colour of render. That doesn't mean that we should not be concerned for the quality of design of a prominent new building. Personally I don't think there is any excuse for such poor and careless design. You can still work to a tight budget, yet be thoughtful about aesthetics.

A big box development is possible (though unlikely I'd have thought). Wouldn't call that 'a shopping centre' though. I would hope the good peeps of ED would fight such a thing were it proposed. The 'industrial estate' / warehouse model of shopping has got to be one of the most depressing things ever to have happened to retail.

That's going to be a big Evans in a pretty out the way location. I can't imagine it being all that viable.

I'm surprised to hear that there is stigma around Harris - I thought it was generally well regarded. Personally, I don't think the ethnic make up of a school is relevant, but I would prefer to send my daughters to a co-ed. Shame they don't merge the two.

It's a really basic form - block work boxes, rendered to hide their cheap construction. The coloured render (the only thing close to any adornment) actually makes the thing more ugly. Would be mildly better kept white.

Don't like the way they're building right up to the boundary on Whateley Road. The current building is set back a little.

Is Harris perceived by some as more 'down market' than other secondarys in the area then?
